That depends on what you're trying to do.  Do you want BTC profit or are you trying to look for your 'next Bitcoin'?  If it's the former, you can trade anything that's trending up that has decent volume and liquidity.  If it's the latter, then hold Monero and Litecoin.  IMO.

If you are thinking so far about to find the alternative for the bitcoin itself. AFAIK bitcoin fork coin just like bitcoin cash can become bitcoin alternatives but all of these tokens were started from the bitcoin and caused by the bitcoin problem with its scalability and then the more people try to make another improvement that planted in the new altcoin or blockchain.

The success of Bitcoin in recent years is undeniable, but will the success be repeated in 2018? Of course difficult to predict. Given the proliferation in 2017 that is almost over, the alternative is certainly now a good time to choose a potential crytoin investment in 2018.

I think it might be ETH, ETH is the smart contract. It actually affects the whole cryptocurrency market, so it's possible to go beyond bitcoin.

I'm completely overhelmed with so many possibilities, so I feel a little paralyzed in my decision.
But in the next days, I'll choose a direction. We'll see.

Yes, ETH may be the best option, because at the moment, people only recognize ETH in addition to bitcoin, but don't recognize other altcoin.

The best alternatives to bitcoin are Eth and Litecoin IMHO. I think you will see NEM and NEO have a strong 2018 as they both have a lot of great things to offer.
Looking forward to seeing cryptocurrency grow and become stronger in 2018.

Depends. If you want to make profit there are so many alternatives. Waves stratis iot ethereum etc are my favorites.
If you want faster transactions and a better blockchain etc. Waves is a good solution.

For bitcoin value, I can not put my finger because bitcoin is mostly likely going to rise beyond expectations but talking in terms of alternatives as per uses, I see litecoin playing that role because they both have the same script.

I don't like bitcoin cash but now it looks like the best BTC competitor due to fast transactions and low tx fees. But unfortunately it has the founder in opposite to the original BTC.

If you are talking in terms of price then I do not think that any of these would actually surpass the price of bitcoin. However it seems like that the marketcap may be breached by ripple or etherium in the very near future. Only time will tell for sure and when this will happen.

I think from above list Ether can be the alternate because Ethereum is an open software platform based on blockchain technology that enables developers to build and deploy decentralized applications. And now a days you can see many many ICO coming with Ethereum platform. And Ether can touch 1500$ in 2018. And you can add other coins I will also  prefer Ripple (XRP), Cardano, NEO.This all altcoins can perform well in 2018 as bitcoin performed in 2017.

It is true but in the work will feel boring if done in a monotonous manner. Therefore there are many options created altcoin so that we can make an alternative choice in this crypto world. it's the best bitcoin right now but it does not mean we're just inside it. Do trading and investment also in altcoin so we have a backup when things that are not in want to happen.

Litecoin sounds just like Bitcoin so that coin might be the one that can match against Bitcoin if given the chance to do so.
