It's probably early to say that Bitcoin will leave the market in 2018. He already has a very strong brand and a serious history. A lot of whales have financed their investments in bitcoin. I think he will not leave until 2019

I am sure ethereum will be the best alternative for this year, because it has excellent potential and can affect the cryptocurrency market, and ethereum is also more stable compared to other coins.

I think that bitcoin will not have alternatives as such, if viewed from the point of view of the coin itself, and if it is a matter of capitalization, then perhaps something will appear over time that will be able to overtake it

why should there be an alternative for bitcoin so far no one can rival at the peak there is no approaching to BTC I still consider BTC is the king
It depends on what you are looking, if you are looking for an alternative medium of payment with faster confirmation then you could look at litecoin or dogecoin, if you are looking for a better investment that gives you more profits but it is a safe investment Ethereum could be the best choice and if you are looking for great returns maybe some of new icos could be a better pick.

The best alternative and best altcoins after Bitcoins are Litecoin, Ripple and Ethereum. You can find huge profit by investing in  these coins as these both are having good potential and has good future.

For investors, the biggest challenge is to find the right investment vehicle to place their funds. The biggest rising crypto-star of 2017 was Ripple’s XRP, according to data from CoinMarketCap. It started 2017 worth a measly $0.0065 per coin, but was valued at $2.47 by the end of the year –a Herculean 37,000% increase. Ethereum and Litecoin also performed exceptionally well in 2017. Litecoin and Ethereum are arguably bigger names and will set you back more, but if Bitcoin’s rise and rise is anything to go by, they could still be far from their ceiling and also represent good alternatives to consider. However, know that the value of digital currencies are subject to major fluctuations – far more pronounced than physical monies – and high-profile cryptocurrencies have been known to completely crash in the past.

Alternative for what? Alternative for store of value? I don't see a better option.
Alternative to fast transactions? We got a lot of fast and reliable coins. Even Doge can do that.
Alternative for investment? Pick major altcoins such as Ethereum, Neo, Waves, Vechain etc.

What do you think which will be the best alternative of bitcoin in 2018? Ethereum, Litecoin, Ripple, Verge or Zcash?
Ripple? No, It's not the best alternative to bitcoin. Verge? No too. ETH and Litecoin can be considered as an alternative for bitcoin.
Litecoin is the best option!
It's also my choice.

Ethereum remains a strong alternative to BTC. The acceptance of ETH is growing by the day, especially the use of ETH for most ICOs is driving the utilization of the coin on daily basis. And the fact that it is cheaper than BTC too is an asset. You can also consider the fact that Ethereum is going from POW to POS, which will be more healthy for the coin in the long run (more environment friendly).

Btc is around to stay with secondary layers and coins such as Ark. BTC will soon be able to offer similar functions to all other altcoins (to a degree) I'm watching Ark. Also consider sunbathing other than block chain. Research the dag coins.

IMHO , Cardano is challenging Ethereum and Bitcoin

Cardano is a blockchain platform launched by Blockchain Development Output Hong Kong (IOHK), led by former co-founder BitShares and Ethereum Charles Hoskinson. The platform is aimed at launching smart-contracts, decentralized applications and blockchains.

Bitcoin will end up at least 60% of crypto by end of 2018. Alt bubble is over. There are almost no alts with fundamentals.
Bitcoin will not end anything the ones that are going to destroy useless altcoins are going to be the investors, most of them are only on those altcoins to obtain profits when they discover they not only are not going to get profits but that they will lose most of their money then things are going to get ugly some good alts will still survive and thrive but they will be the minority.

I think that Ethereum because the most ICO's are based on it. I believe that ETH will grow and will cost more than $3k in this year.

I think Bitcoin Cash is a great alternative to Bitcoin. I think Bitcoin Cash will see more jobs in the future. Bitcoin millionaire like Roger Ver should give more support.

But with such high increases in the price in the last year it is almost impossible to repeat that performance for those altcoins, the market cap of Ripple for example is so big already that is unlikely it is going to outperform bitcoin by any wide margin, in fact we are seeing the coins at the top move in a very similar manner over the last weeks.

There are three best alternative for Bitcoin. I am talking about Ethereum, Litecoin and Ripple. Maybe in 2018 Bitcoin Cash will show a good result. But it is unclear. So my advice is to buy Ethereum.
