Thanks again for the offer of hosting from those outside the co-op, but we're limiting the hosting for this Group Buy to co-op members as they're part owners of the device & should have a first shot. We have serious offers of very inexpensive hosting with quite a bit of built-in security from within the co-op from firsttimeuser, BeepBeep2, and even kaz911 in the Netherlands with dual network connections if we agreed to the shipping delay to Europe to gain network redundancy.
No worries though, there's plenty of interest from outside the co-op for hosting opportunities for those with ultra cheap electricity/bandwidth. Averaging over 100 hits a day on ebay for miner hosting services.
I'm receiving a trickle of PM votes. I won't say how the voting is going on that side but voting ends on Monday night at 9PM HST.
That is awesome that firsttimeuser, BeepBeep2, and even kaz911 are willing to step forward and donate their locations to "amateur" hosting. I feel as though the community and your group buy co-op will be more than happy to hear of cheap hosting solutions for their invested miners in whatever locations they may be in. For those in the USA.. there is a centrally located hosting position that runs at a low rate and I plan to host at the rate everyone agrees on. I am not a buyer of your co-op but due offer my services to anyone. regards!

Voting ended for our first Cooperative vote and it was unanimous for amateur hosting! Neato. Ok, one more major vote before I'm done bugging you guys. We have 3 hosting offers from inside the Cooperative. I'll summarize highlights below and also point out potential negatives because it's my job to be pragmatic. BeepBeep2, Barberton,Ohio 6.86 cents per kWh in Ohio Freshman in college but studying Cisco Networking soon Will be working with 2 Network Engineers (will basically need to go hit reset button or have someone reset it for us, if necessary) Time Warner DHCP could cause occ. network outages (could be switched to static IP for small fee; could be worth looking into) Someone will be home at all times (85% of the time) " My father is a police officer in the area! " [Note: Now *that's* security. I know as a father I wouldn't want anyone messing with my son's stuff. ] == kaz911 UAE I mention this because there's no VAT taxes & that dual network connection is awesome! However, we'd have to be willing to accept the delay of having this flown to the Middle East but at least the odds of it going down for a while due to network outages is probably pretty low esp. with kaz911 there most of the time. " UAE home hosting - 50Mbit/10Mbit non-dedicated - US ping 140-200ms dependent on location. But I work from home - so almost 24 hour watch.
Both racks have 4 U space open right now. More to come as I am removing some old servers.
I'm an electronics engineer - well educated in PC hardware since 1983 - with PRO monitoring setup (Paessler PRTG setup). I used to run/own an ISP (First private Danish ISP ever) - and if someone has time to write a PRTG plugin - the hashrates etc could be presented in my PRTG user interface with graphs etc."== firsttimeuser Staten Island, NY He does not have an IT background but this won't be really necessary. He was the first person to offer hosting for the group. He also has the cheapest electricity costs and 24/7 security with video recording. philipma1957 is also willing to be a local backup. " Electricity cost me $20/month ALL INCLUDED I can host and watch(24/7) the Baby Jet for low fee... My job is 2(two) min away, next block. I can always leave the job for an hour at any time. Douring the day I am at home. My busy-sleeping hours: 2PM - 11PM Eastern Time. (i will never sleep for the baby jet ) " [Note: work schedule switching shortly] == There you have it! I think we have 3 strong choices and we're very fortunate. Gents please let me know if I missed any important details about your hosting offer. Cooperative members: Please PM me your vote for preferred choice of Miner Host privately or please bring up any concerns you may have publicly. If I don't hear from you I'll just assume you have no preference. If you're one of the potential miner hosts, you don't have to PM me. I'll pre-count you as voting for yourself, unless I hear otherwise. Voting is weighted. So: if you have 2 shares, you get 2 votes. I'll vote last, if necessary, and hold any tiebreaker votes. Voting closes Friday night at 9PM HST. Mahalo!

Bumpity bump n stuff.
2 more days to vote if you have an opinion. Cheers!
BTW, the latest news is that HashFast is just about guaranteed to be giving us chips! This was straight from cypherdoc ahead of John's announcement. We're gonna need homes for these chips. Let me know if you guys want to split costs on some rigs to get more HashRate from our purchase if this plan solidifies on their end. That or we could vote to sell the chips.
Let me know what you guys think about what to do with extra chips, if you don't mind.

Well, the votes are in: firsttimeuser wins! I didn't vote and didn't need to break any tiebreakers. philipma1957 is our local backup for further redundancy (thanks philip!).
Congrats man! I'll send you a PM later as a follow up as to what's next. We'll go over any hosting concerns you may still have. Thank you once again for offering to host our HashFast and thank you to BeepBeep2 & kaz911 for offering to host as well.
kaz911: please PM me if you'd like me to list your miner hosting services on these forums and/or ebay.
Also, we could use one more remote admin if anyone would like to step up. It's not that hard & I could def. teach you in a short period. I don't want you guys to be stuck in a lurch in case I'm indisposed and Dave's in the Amazon for a few days.

firsttimeuser has completed vetting with me & is now a vetted miner host!Congratulations! Management fees will not be applied to his shares and he gets a hosting fee for putting up with our Baby Jet! Someone has to change electronic diapers once in a while - AKA the magical reset button. We're lucky he's able to host our miner; it's an excellent set of circumstances for an amateur host yet he has limited capacity because he already had other miners on order. Now I need to work out a deal with philipma1957 for 1 or 2 of his PSUs before they eventually meet up; that way you don't have to ship 'em or drive twice!

I haven't been following for a while so not sure if this has been discussed, anyway:
we need some plan for those 4x extra chips that HF promissed as a miner protection plan. These chips have to be sent somewhere for assembly and hosting.
In case you don't know: HF is promising extra chips (up to 4 times the amount you get in your miners) to the customers who can't make ROI on the original purchase.

Congratulations firsttimeuser! Hope you will do a good job for us all! And thanks for DZ too Thanks milkbottlec. That makes two of us! I'm sure he'll be fine. Once it's set up, the only time he'll need to get involved is if the durn thing doesn't remote restart. trout: yup, I'm on the case. I'm already holding reservations for the first system builder / bare rig GBC that steps up. Update: Cara called me this morning on my cell phone. She apologized profusely about the delay in resolution to our order. She didn't make any excuses about the delay. She confirmed that our place in the Q is secure. Here's the official invoice I received today: http://i286.photobucket.com/albums/ll87/SurfSkateKauai/Order991-Complete.pngI copied John K. & firsttimeuser on the address change. Now all we have to do is wait. BTW, if you haven't heard, cypherdoc confirmed today that the Baby Jet can host *two* chips. It's also likely that they'll have to trigger the MPP. Hmm, how convenient. This 400-500GH/s unit could end up being 800-1000GH/s by year's end or so, at no additional charge.Update: We're on the official order chain as ordered on 8/18, Order 991: https://hashfast.com/order-chain/

Hey firsttimeuser, I can attempt to sell that for you if you want. Nice to have a 162 100% rating on ebay for these kinds of things. Those last 2 points were from Dave & kaz. The bad news is the last BFL 30GH/s pre-order that sold on ebay was a March 6 order for $968. Please let me know if you'd like me to list that for you at a 2.5% commission after ebay fees. I'll do my best to sell it for you if you want & if/when BFL gets that trading forum set up you should be able to transfer ownership pretty easily.

Couldn't lock the thread. I believe you have to be a mod to do that. Besides, I'm enjoying the free flow of info here and want to keep up the openness and transparency we've established for our co-op so far. BTW, I worked out a purchase agreement with philipma1957 for a hefty UPS & Battery backup for our Baby Jet. He gave me a really good deal on over $1K ofI expect to pay him next month before he and firsttimeuser meet up so that he can hand it off when they meet.

As part of the deal I will toss in fans as needed since I have more then 2 dozen spares in just about any possible size. I forgot to mention that i have a lot of fans. since the chip will pull a lot of power i believe it needs a water cooling solution. that i do not have but to have extra fans beyond the water cooling should help manage heat. this will be really true if we get a second chip in the extra hash plan. the fan selection is really large and will be for free as a bonus. to the eaton ups with extend battery pack
