Existing product and business is always good to look into especially when it come to investments. ICO investments much more riskier. Here we really need to have strict restrictions and choose the project accordingly. Review sites would be helpful in selecting the first rounds.

I would take ETH any day of the week, the only thing is do we need to HODL the GIFcoin tokens in a GIFcoin online wallet to receive dividend or will they automatically send ETH to addresses by searching up peoples addresses with their own smart contract?

I remember for a long time there were rumors that it would be paid exactly by coins of the GIF, then every year the number of coins would increase and, as a consequence, the amount of the payment. But this is not beneficial for developers.
