i think what is important is to have a decent amount of content to be watched and keep adding new and interesting content as much as possible.
obviously if you want it to succeed they need to constantly add content and make the platform better. remains to be seen if they manage to do that.

all this subtitles idea is lame, I think even the project is highly in speculation mode. Not a fail safe program
Just try to watch a movie using a different language than your own. After that think about how lame are subtitles. Not everyone is native English speaker nor all contents are English. The prime example would be any anime show from Japan. As a Westerner, you need subtitles but there are already dedicated groups providing these subs. Subtitles are definitely needed and not a lame idea at all. I am also a fan of the idea we discussed here earlier that the community gets an incentive to help providing good subtitles.

Why? I dont see any problems here. Its a bit speculative because we dont see much progress yet but there is much to be established in the background. I think the subtitle idea is very good. There are already many people of subgroups (mostly anime) out there which have a lot of experience and can work as a good translator. Why not take advantage of that instead of buying in expensive translated subtitles? There will be mistakes, some sentence that doesnt make fully sense, grammar and vocabulary errors but the overall translation of those hobby translators is pretty good. To be honest I found fan made subtitles pretty good, instead when I watch movies with subtitles in my language on Netflix I find a lot of errors lol

Every project in itself is speculative, especially in the early stages, where something has not yet been realized in values or platform. As for the subtitles, it would really be a great way to include the Community in the Platform, as well as gains by nomination, participation in translations and qualifications for this

Subtitles can be figured out along the way, maybe they will partner up with somebody or have their own translation team, but quality content is either there or it's not.

maybe is better if they will apply different prices based on the country where they operate, based on fact that even 1$ can be a lot in certain countries
This is certain. For different countries there should be different prices. Since a person will prefer a pirated film than pay a large price for it. If I am not mistaken they also said this before that they will make prices regarding the region in which people are living. But that is nearly a standard these days. In Europe you pay often much more for stuff then in the USA. But you cannot make it cheap because other countries would buy the account with VPN or so to get the lower price. Other platforms has done this too, iam sure there is a good way to stir around this. First, he who save on films, he will save on vpn, and so it will be low-speed access and the video will be in poor quality. Secondly, a person will watch the movie in a foreign language for him and with foreign subtitles. maybe is better if they will apply different prices based on the country where they operate, based on fact that even 1$ can be a lot in certain countries
This is certain. For different countries there should be different prices. Since a person will prefer a pirated film than pay a large price for it. that's the challenge that all service providers must face. which is why , in my opinion, a subscription service is better, than paying by film. As for the subscription, many people are very negative about this form of payment. It is better if there is an alternative for the user: either subscription or payment for the film.

I don't think its lame, because not everybody have to know english, or if i like see a spanish series(like la casa de papel, a must watch) what should i do besides subtitles? So we need somebody to translate it fast and cheap. there comes the bounty idea.

I would have not got every a word if it wasn't for subtitles.

Let's change the example to %3 Jokes aside, subtitles is critical for such a service.

Without it, many people can only guess the flow through body language alone and sometimes could lead to misinterpretation.

The anime community is very big and they should focus on them.

Maybe they will change the price based on video quality which makes sense to me, country with poor connections->poor->quality->cheap
Yes that not unrealistic, SD and HD quality, for sd quality also the server coasts will reduce. Payment depending of quality- it seems for me as amateurish. I think must be fixed payment per month or for a larger discounted term for premium access with all the features. They will not have a fixed payment per month as you can read here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2871239.msg29576757#msg29576757Thanks for this info, but for me it's still little bit fuzzily - how this model for paid content will be implemented in practice, I suppose the basic functions will be free? I think they should offer some free and paid movies at the same time. Freebies are a powerful tool to attract new users. i think so they will offer many free content and paid content will be on demand, there will not be a monthly subscription, bounty for subtitles would be a good idea... It will be interesting when the community will jointly translate films and write subtitles for them. I want to see this in my life!

I'm not sure that the community will be doing this, that to translate a movie or impose a subtitle will take a lot of free time and besides this is not everyone can do. For them it will be necessary to create their own staff of specialists in this field!

Besides other languages as i mentioned before not everybody have to know pronunciation every word, try watching a movie/series about for example redneck americans without subtitles. (good luck with that also)

An important part must be tv series, I see that all streaming platoforms are going heavier on tv series. There will be crowdfunding also for that or only film productions?
