Do you have "only use Tor" enabled? It's towards the end of the settings.
Exactly where can I find that option? I only see the same as armedmilitia described: a use tor-network option that has two settings: "https" or "external tor (Orbot)". What should it be on?

Is there a way to NOT use Tor at all? I don't mind about the potential privacy risk involved. I never order child porn and terrorist attacks with Mycelium.

Seems like I misread the option. i see the same as you, and don't understand the options. Maybe there isn't an option not to use Tor, idk. I don't have orbot installed, and so have always had 'Use https' selected, which shows up in the top level options as "(only https)". Maybe "Use https" means "don't use Tor", but it's really not clear.

Cant it be that the propagation problems come from the stresstest on the bitcoin blockchain? Im not sure if it still goes on but yesterday they tested and everyone had problems sending something. So maybe its related to that too. Mycelium server side or in general. Just a guess.  Tongue

Edit: For Reference

Please ALWAYS contact me through bitcointalk pm before sending someone coins.

I don't think anyone from Mycelium comes to this thread anymore. They're just like BitPay and the rest. Once the business gets big they realize how toxic BCT is and they never come back. Try looking up problems and help here: https://github.com/mycelium-com/wallet/issues

Not true, my experience with the Mycelium devs is very different.

By the way, isn't Trasla from Mycelium?

Oh and what do you mean by 'once the business gets big', I wonder how big their business is, how much did you pay for your Mycelium wallet? I know I paid zilch for mine.

In theory, there's no difference between theory and practice. In practice, there is.

Hey, I was just trying to help. I had problems and found the answer in the github pages. If you don't want to use github don't go there.

When I say big I mean prestigious. Like they are trying to maintain a proper professional appearance. Coming to this shithole and arguing with trolls kind of takes away from that. lol

I had a worrying issue today and a trader colleague had a serious issue.

Someone sent me some coins to my HD account address but they were not appearing even after multiple refreshes. However, the transaction was clearly visible on block explorer sites. This was very unpleasant, and I tried to send a test transaction from my HD account to this mentioned address. It did not appear, but suddenly another address was generated for the HD account. Anyway, after a couple of minutes the initial transaction appeared.

My colleague told me that he received funds from someone, the funds were appearing to be on the way, and they suddenly disappeared from his transaction lists. Same thing happened to the sender, the funds were back in his wallet. Now, I can't be sure of this since I've heard this from my colleague, but he is very concerned. And I don't know what kind of wallet the sender was using. Edit: found out the sender was using Mycelium as well, and their transactions appear in block explorers. however for the sender it shows he still has the original amount, but he can't send anything else when he tries. This makes me conclude there is a serious issue with the Mycelium servers.

This sort of issue has never happened before. At the moment I have 581 keys in my HD account.

I need to switch to another wallet asap...

Had a similar issue today with transactions showing on the blockchain but not in MyCelium.

Closed it and restarted it and the transactions appeared as 'Receiving' but again disappeared after a couple of minutes. At present only one of the two are showing, not sure where the other one went, it shows on the blockchain but not in MC.

EDIT: Forgot to add. Both these transaction involve small amounts sent to me and the senders used an extremely small fee so the transactions have been unconfirmed now for about a day. I think this might have something to do with the 20 odd thousand unconfirmed transactions we are seeing.

This message was just posted by Mycelium on Twitter:-

"All the spam flood clogged our Tor server, so we're having to defrag the 160gig database it's on. Will take a while. Sorry"

I went into settings and stopped using Tor and was successfully able to make transactions. My past transactions that did not appear on the Blockchain, have disappeared and my balance is correct.

Twitter really does seem to be a very good place to get CS as no company wishes to give bad publicity in such a Public Forum.

I just tried finding that message. I checked https://twitter.com/myceliumcom but it wasn't there. Mostly that was retweets of stuff unrelated to Mycelium. Eventually I found it here: https://twitter.com/MyceliumCom/with_replies - mixed in with a lot of out-of-context replies to questions that I can't see without clicking - and the retweets are still there too. I have to scroll through pages of photos of people's feet and such like to find important announcements? Seems sub-optimal. There must be some better way of communicating important information directly affecting users of the wallet. Is the service back up now? Is it safe to use it? If not, is there an ETA for when it will be safe? Those are the questions I'd want to see addressed, maybe on a dedicated "service status" page so I don't have to get distracted by pictures of feet or Julia in short shorts.

Try looking up problems and help here: https://github.com/mycelium-com/wallet/issues

While github is a good resource, I don't think its issue tracker is the place for announcements about back-end server issues. The issue tracker is for tracking issues in the 'open-source' components of their wallet, which I don't think includes the back-end server databases.

I need to switch to another wallet asap...

Let us know if you find anything good for Android. I had high hopes for airbitz but it wanted access to so much stuff on my tablet that I ended up not installing it.

"Mycelium people" have a look at this thread once in a while. We try to monitor the usual places like here and reddit, but there are not many of us, we have a hell lot to do, and posts here might go unnoticed for a while. If there is an urgend matter, writing to info@mycelium.com or developers@mycelium.com is always better because that does not depend on us thinking about and finding the time to log in here.

That said, yes, there are currently problems with transactions not showing up in mycelium properly.
We are currently investigating, it seems like the current extreme volume of unconfirmed transactions causes problems with our mempool handling, so that transactions which are not yet confirmed do not always show up. The severity of this varies between our servers, so when you restart the app you might connect to a server who has more or less problems handling the mempool. Daniel is currently debugging this, and I will join him right after I finished typing this.

Sorry for the inconvenience.

Any update yet?

My wallet is seriously screwed up with transactions not showing resulting in balances being incorrect so unable to process any outgoing transactions due to the incorrect balances.

Update:
Servers currently get updated to better communicate about outgoing transactions with each other.
This should solve the problem of transactions not showing in the wallet.

App got changes to use dynamic fees based on the current network load, and to allow re-broadcasting of unconfirmed transactions.
Its being tested internally and ready for beta-testing hopefully pretty soon(tm).

How's this for an idea:

Have an 'alert' system, like bitcoin-core does. When your servers are having problems, make a notice pop up inside the Mycelium app itself.

If there's one place you know for sure your users are looking, it's at your app. So that's where important notices should go. That way we don't have to guess which of facebook, reddit, twitter, bitcointalk, the play store, etc. you might have posted the announcement on.

I have a more general question about the Mycelium Android Client.

As I understand things, the app generates a new receiving address for each transaction, but do you retain the address or is it recycled?
If, for example, someone was to send monthly payments to the same address, would it still end up in the right place?

I don't think it's really generating the new addresses. It's more like it is deriving the next address from your master key.

As for whether the Mycelium servers watch all the receiving addresses you've ever seen for new deposits, I have no idea. I guess they do, but we would need confirmation of that from someone with insider knowledge.

You can find out whether Mycelium monitors or scans old addresses by generating a list of your addresses, choosing an old one and sending some coin to it.  See if it shows up in your balance.

If not, refresh your wallet.
Highlight (select) the account, go to the menu and click reload account.  It will then have to generate every address in the chain, including the one you sent some new coins to.  Maybe it will see the coins...anybody care to try it?

I would, but I only have 50 private keys in my oldest HD wallet and so I doubt any of my receiving addresses count as 'old'.

I tried to reload all the addresses of my account HD, had a transaction not confirmed by two days, finished the updating is back in my wallet, but after a while reappears with the same date and will not be confirmed, if mark disappears again and then return.
Advise me to move now the bitcoin i have in mycelium or wait until the problem is solved?
