@stoner: pm me as much info as you can, and maybe take your issue to the Nxt forum: www.nxtforum.orgWe probably can't help, so don't get excited, 'cos Nxt is pretty secure, but someone might be up to try This thread is ancient, btw, latest stuff is on: NXT Official Thread

Anyone have any experience creating their own cryptocurrency using the NXT monetary system? We are considering creating a cryptocurrency tied to our IOS app in development (see: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1319773.0) and are looking for a simple way to do so.

Yes, and it is very, very simple. Check out the wiki: http://nxtwiki.org/wiki/Monetary_SystemAnd your tech guys will need an API reference to play with: http://nxtwiki.org/wiki/The_Nxt_APINxt-related set-up costs will consist only of the fee for new currency creation, which will vary from 40 to 25,000 NXT, depending on what length your currency code is: 25000 NXT for three-letter codes, 1000 NXT for four-letter codes and 40 NXT for five-letter codes. If you need more info, come for a chat on www.nxtforum.org, good luck with your project.

It depends on a lot of things. We are heading in the right direction now no doubt but thats is hard to predict. I personally think we will go above 10.5 million before first half, but anything bad can also happen.

Does the NXT AE or Monetary System support exchanging between the different Monetary System currencies themselves on Nxt? For example, if I burn some HYPER over to Nxt (and then have some HYPER on Nxt with the Monetary System), and then make some currencies for my MMO ( https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1374470) will the Monetary System HYPER on Nxt be tradeable with the other MMO currencies I make with Monetary System on Nxt? I have looked over the wiki but couldn't find an answer. Please let me know! If it is not possible would someone be willing to work with me to fork Nxt? (This is mainly to use for HYPER and my MMO, not to be a direct competitor with Nxt).

But you can create for example nxtHYPER, and nxtHYPER2, and then trade eachother via NXT as the middleman currency. In the future they could be traded directly without NXT as a middleman, but currency only via NXT. But you can create an API easily to make this process automated. nxtHYPER -> nxt -> nxtHYPER2 It only needs an api call and it can be automated. And then if you want to switch it back for example nxtHYPER -> NXT -> HYPER, where the NXT->HYPER transaction can be done via an exchange API call. Everything is possible with NXT.

EDIT: please let me know, Using NXT as middleman currency is an interesting idea.

Of course, it's demand and supply, if people start to buy nxtHYPER, it's price will go up. However since its a representation of HYPER, you might want to peg it to HYPER's real value, otherwise it would be a speculative crap. Instead of burning the HYPER, you should buy NXT with it, and use that money to maintain the peg to NXT<>HYPER exchange rate. That is the only transparent way to do it. And anything else will be set by the supply & demand market. Of course there may be minor slippages of price, but thats inevitable. The same way as superBTC is an NXT token pegged to BTC price ,representing BTC in NXT platform.

Are there any gateways out there that will automate the exchange for users between "real" HYPER and nxtHYPER? Now it's getting complicated I know ha ha. But I can see how this all fits together and maybe work. I would need help with the API though, and how to set it all up so it is seamless for players of our MMO to trade their in-game currencies (based on Monetary System) with nxtHYPER and also if we did do it, we would create nxtGP as well.

https://shapeshift.io/#You are lucky becaue they just accept HYPER, and you can use their api calls to process this transaction. https://shapeshift.io/api

I didn't even know that. I thought it could only ShapeShift to Nxt itself. EDIT: oh of course I see, so it Shapeshifts HYPER to Nxt and then the Nxt API "shapeshifts" the Nxt into NxtHYPER. Is that correct?

No, shapeshift is only for HYPER <> NXT The transaction link would look like this HYPER <-------shapeshift.io------> NXT <--------NXT internal api call--------> nxtHYPER For internal NXT api calls you need to have the NXT blockchain on your PC. And consult some of the NXT developers about this, I`m not a very tech person: https://nxtforum.org/nxt-helpdesk/
