The above listed methods are still good in growing one's altcoins, but i will like to explain some of those points.
Investments is like a circular - one who buys an ICO has just invested, another who trades, has also invested and if you decide to hold, it is another form of investment. You just have to be wise on whatever decision you decide to make. Just learn to hold the good one and those with high prospects. Also buy ICOs with care. Make all the necessary findings before buying any.

You've listed already what I thought. Investing in ICO is good in altcoin, it can make you profitable once the ICO is successful but of course, try to look at the ICO which can be a successful one. Trading altcoins is good also specially, if the altcoins you've bought are in its lowest price then pump it soon. For sure, you can be also gain a lot of money.
There are specific method when we will invest in altcoin but be sure that we must first know the token that we will put our capital in order for us not to regret when it is totally dump.

If you in invest in some ico out there you should investigate more of it because it may turn out to be scam, once you've invest in some legit ico, you will surely gain a profit in it.

If you're afraid to invest in ico then watch out for it yo be listed in any exchange then buy from those weak hands who were dumping their best bounty coins in very first week of the exchange. Once that dump's over, then the price will go up for as long as that coin is very promising.

Just hodl to it for about a year or two and you'll be surprise to see its value increases more than its ico price.

Of course the best method is to really buy more altcoins. But if your question is how to get much profit from it, then all the above you posted has that potential. As to what is the best methods no one can really tell you that because everything involves risk. Its how to manage that risk so that you will get to your goal.

* Others just prefer to hold and doesn't want to trade because they are not good at that.

* Others wanted to invest on ICO and wait for it to explode, but a lot of scammy ICO's right now so you have to do your homework and research.

* Others want to do trade because they have the experienced to back it up, but you don't want to be greedy because at the end of the day, you might lose everything. So it's really up to you pal, what's fits your goal.

Holding does not diversify ones portfolio but holding a good coin only increases ones profit as the price rises. Trading several coins increases one's altcoins in terms of diversity and profit. Investing in ICOs or IEOs are also a good choice to diversify ones portfolio but this must be done after performing an extensive research into the projects.

There is no better way to increase your altcoins than by buying more. That is not included in your list apparently. Investing in ICO is a bit obsolete and very risky. I would not recommend it. Trading is the next best way to increase your altcoins. But it needs a lot of preparation. Nevertheless, it is always worth learning. There is so much money in trading provided your skills will grow to an expert level. HODL is only applicable if we talk of the very few solid altcoins.

For growing altcoins, theres always that option of doing masternodes and/or POS (staking). IMO, there is only one 100% safe method of growing your altcoins. That is to do mining. If you want to be completely safe, then you can go for PoS mining. The only 100% safe method is to do mining (either PoW or PoS). From what I have noticed, many of the smaller PoW altcoins have low hash-rates and it is possible to earn good mining rewards even if you do solo mining. Well... this is true. Nowadays it is not very difficult to earn cryptocurrencies. There are a lot of different methods, such as airdrops, bounty campaigns, mining, trading.etc. But as you said, not all of these cryptocurrencies may be valuable. You have the lovely answer which you have made yourself. There is no special secrets I mean you have answered right that to increase the amount of altcoins in your portfolio you can buy altcoins, invest in ICO, participate in bounty campaigns and so on.
Generally, in my opinion it is better to have a few valuable altcoins instead of lots junk ones. I know there is an erroneous opinion that soon or late any altcoin will grow. It is not true, on the contrary the most part of altcoins (I mean not reliable) will become trash therefore make up your portfolio by reliable and valuable altcoins not to be a pity later.

I read the thread and most of the answer is trading! Yes it is true that trading is really a good method of growing your altcoins. But not all of the times you can win, there are risks in trading and there is not trader even he/she is professional that are not experiencing losses.

This is a princicple of trading however it's difficult to implement since you need to evaluate the price action and the previous chart from long to short term time frame. In order to do it properly, a user or a trader must have watched different video tutorials regarding how to use indicators and other chart tools. It is true. Holding is not something that can be said to be good for growing altcoin, when compared to trading I would also choose to trade even though it can be said that trading has a greater risk if we do not understand about how to trade in cryptocurrency but compared to holding uncertain whether the coins are we hold later will really have a large value or even fall.

all of the above op are the ways to increase your altcoin earning profit  . why do one when you can do them all three  ?  the more the better that what they say but doing more methods to earn is not going to be easy than doing one alone but hardwork is also part of the process  .

when you do hardwork it pays alot more at the end than sticking only on your comfort zone and earn smaller profits  . just gotta make sure that you start with good picks because once you pick badly , those methods arent going to be effective anymore .

Trading is really the way to increase our altcoins but it is also not the only way to increase because there are many other ways to increase our altcoins. It is a profession which require a lot of skills and learnings of different tricks after that we are able to earn money in trade. In my case, I grow up my Altcoins by sorting all the Altcoins I have which I have observed the price behavior over the span of time I have alloted for me to see if there will be even a single beat or glance of improvement when it comes to its price which I basically observe to test its potential of growing as well as surviving. Most of the Altcoins I have hold came from ICO projects which I have stored for a long period of time. Now, I trade those Altcoins or sell those I found unworthy for long term holding in exchange for potential Altcoins I have found to be worth it.
