I don't think litecoin would hit the 0.025 BTC mark again for a VERY long time, it might stay somewhere in the 0.01x BTC range.

LTC has nothing really backing it..
even in gambling people rather use 0.00001btc than litecoin..

No fiat has anything backing it.  Not the dollar, euro, yen, or anything else.

So saying Litecoin has nothing backing it is like saying Litecoin is as good as the dollar.  Not sure if that would be a compliment at this point.

There is a chance LTC might be picked up in China a bit more as the brother of LTC developer Coblee is the owner or btcchina that has been having the massive BTC rally this month.

I heard on BTC-e chat that there were some large buys of LTC from Chinese IPs which sparked the rally a couple days ago. I think some people are speculating that a Chinese BTC exchange will pick up LTC as well. It wouldn't surprise me at all if it happens before Gox adopts LTC Tongue

Litecoin (any Alternative coin) has got more value than bitcoin will ever have. Just because anyone is willing to pay x amount does not give it value.

Another sticking point for the naysayers is that it's recently been discovered Coblee's brother owns BTCChina. Things that make you go "Hmm..."

Altcoins will never hold any meaningful value. Litecoin holds a little value because it came second, and because it's scrypt. Bitcoin defines everything in the market today, not the other way around. When people trade altcoins, they look on btc/alt ratio, not on any other ratio.

There are many scenarios in which an altcoin could become more valuable than Bitcoin, however none are very likely in the short term.

In longer time scales, the 6 month to 2 year head start Bitcoin has over the alts will not necessarily amount to much.  Once a merchant starts accepting Bitcoin, there is very little barrier to accepting other alts as well.   It'll be interesting to see how this whole crypto thing plays out over the next 5-20 years.

Multipool - Always mine the most profitable coin - Scrypt, X11 or SHA-256!

Folks will buy Litecoin at $20+ each even those here that wouldn't even buy if it went to $1, I remember buying Bitcoins at £10.00 each only to see it drop to around the £2 mark. I firmly believe litecoin is going to prove to be an amazing roller coaster ride whether you want to buy a ticket to that ride or not is entirely up to each individual, if you do though one bit of advice would be to - HOLD ON TIGHT !! Pankkake, you must forgot that Satoshi Nakamoto's team keep more than one million Bitcoins (similarly to the pre-mine ).  Roll Eyes
Litecoin will win the race

Something that sparked my curiosity from reading the last 10 pages, if you're against alts and convinced they're 'dead' and useless, WHY are you in the alt subforum?
I personally don't think altcoins are necessarily useless. None of them are interesting enough to be used as a currency for now, but some features are definitely innovative. So far, I've played with a few altcoins, but never held more than 1 BTC of them in a wallet (by that I mean that when I had litecoins, they were actually LTC-GLOBAL shares).

This is a Litecoin thread, not an "all alts" thread
Except many points have been made about litecoin just being another alt.

This crypto stuff is still so young that I expect LTC to hit $1000 sooner than $0.10. If companies can be hundreds of dollars per share while never having made profit, the promise of crypto currencies can attract that kind of faith easily. Just wait.

Companies have business plans, products, services, assets, etc - Litecoin has NONE of that and ZERO plans to get any of it.

There may be one more Bitcoin on the horizon, a coin with no real value, assets or plans which goes on to demand a high value, >$100, but if you think that coin is Litecoin, when the entire Eco-system and the mechanics of cryptos has clearly proven to be against all scrypts, then you have not taken a serious look at what's really happening.

For Bitcoin is a phenomenon, and not the first in line of many more other worthless coins which will go to $1,000, so one would be incredibly fortunate to be able to find the next Bitcoin, if by some rare chance there will be another alt-coin to reach such ridiculous highs.

As for Litecoin, be content if it ever sees $5, or even $3 ever again, let alone the $1,000 you're dreaming about, for the trend says - as Bitcoin surges higher, Litecoin will collapse and never rise again, and we all know that old economics saying:  "The trend is your friend."

So I suggest diversifying and look at the trend which says scrypts are dead and so diversify into SHA256 coins and I would strongly advise to buy a few thousand ixCoins.

Good luck!
