People are in so much of a hurry for things to happen...TAG is only 10 weeks old, we didn't create it for the short term...

jk...

Keep up the good work, TAG team.  People will wait for things to happen, so go at whatever pace works for you.

tagbond are you going to increase POS reward? 1.5% annual seems too low. It should to be at 1.5% by month at least.

While 1.5% per month looks nice, 1.5% per annum is pretty high compared to any bank. They still have to fix the code though. (And I must add, Coin Control, it is in bitcoin-OMG and it is in litecoin.)

Fuse / tagbond / 24kilo,

I just realized something, when I wrote out those steps for you to try my version of BAMT, and I told you to download that updated scrypt binary, I left out one crucial step: deleting the old one. Likely if you followed my steps, there is a .bin.1 file sitting in /opt/miners/cgminernew (or /opt/miners/cgminer) which does you no good. You have to first delete the old binary and then download the new one. I have updated my original post (here) in case anyone runs across it.

However, I have tried and verified the newer BAMT 1.2 runs perfectly and doesn't need a lot of the updating steps of the older one. So, if you guys want to spend 10 minutes and try BAMT out with the PROPER updated scrypt binary, here you go:

BAMT 1.2, cgminer 3.7.2, updated Tahiti scrypt binary SUPER FAST SETUP:

0. If you are running windows and want a simple utility to burn image files to usb sticks: Win 32 Disk Imager

1. Download BAMT 1.2: http://www.goatpc.com/litecoinbamt1.2.zip

2. Unzip the file, a 1.9gb image file will be created. Use a disk imager (such as Win32 Disk Imager) to burn it to a 2gb or larger USB stick. I prefer USB3.0 as they run faster.

3. Pop it in your computer and boot with it, you should see the BAMT loading screen, let it use the defaults.

4. You need to edit the config file. Do this from the command prompt. Load the program menu (bottom left corner button), then goto Accessories, and Root Terminal. You can also SSH into the box if you want:
Username: user
Password: live

5. Edit the cgminer config: sudo nano /etc/bamt/cgminer.conf and make whatever changes you need to, including pools, GPU settings, etc. To save the file: CTRL+O and then CTRL+X.

6. Download the new Tahiti scrypt binary:
a. Go to the folder: cd /opt/miners/cgminernew
b. Delete the old binary: sudo rm -rf scrypt130511Tahitiglg2tc24000w256l4.bin
c. Download the new binary: sudo wget http://goatpc.com/scrypt130511Tahitiglg2tc24000w256l4.bin

7. Force cgminer to restart with your changes: sudo mine restart

At this point you should see it loading munin and launching your GPU's (munin....gpu0....gpu1...etc). As long as there were no apparent errors, you should be fine.

8. If it seems there were no errors, latch onto the cgminer window: sudo screen -dr cgminer

At this point you SHOULD see your stuff hashing.. if not, something has happened, and needs more tech support. Usually it's a typo in cgminer.conf

Beyond this point /etc/bamt/bamt.conf needs configuring, but that's pretty easy.

Let me know if this is helpful..

@versperwillow - did you install the latest 13.12 catalyst drivers as part of that mix?.. in any case, downloading now and will try it out on one of my rigs, none of which are running right now, they were generating too much heat..Wink

Of interesting note, I had to use 16x to 16x risers on 2 of the slots or Windows wouldn't recognize the cards, I don't know why, but it is what it is.  1x to 16x risers on the other 3.

2 PSU's... 1 1200W and 1 1000W

And of course 5x Sapphire Toxic R9 280x  Main Specs:  TC=8193, MEM=1800, Engine=1100

@Bobsurplus - We are selling TAG to merchants who want to give them as rewards, not really selling on the open exchange. As the demand grows from merchants and sites using TAG then we will buy more on the open exchanges or if we cannot get enough we have to mine it. Most others are probably waiting for the price to rise as the demand rises, but till then very little is being sold on the open market.

Tagbond will also be giving out TAG via the different websites we own as in incentive to get more members, so we are just another merchant as well..Wink

No, I didn't change anything driver related--as long as it hashes fast I'm a happy camper. It has revised drivers and detects the R9/R7 cards accurately now, compared to 1.1 so I'd say the drivers are fine. I think that was part of the reason for the 1.2 upgrade, to put newer drivers in and fix some bugs.

I'm also testing out SMOS Mining OS, I'll have a verdict tonight. Still prefer BAMT 1.2 myself.

@versperwillow - thanks for the bamt instructions...certainly makes it easier to get the machines running, but still I can only get 550 to 600 kH/s per card... so it has to be something to do with the mix of cards, logic board and drivers...I've tried pretty much everything else, and tweaking does not help...maybe something in the bios for all I know..Wink - shame to waste the extra 200 per card, but better than nothing I guess... will do till I get them all installed under windows, if I need to go that route..

Glad it was easier. If you ever want me to SSH in and take a look, I certainly don't mind. I know on the official BAMT support thread, when using gigabyte motherboards, there seems to be a wide variance of results. I'd love to be able to figure something out for you though.

Damn, if I was on the east coast I'd drive down from NY to buy you a beer and shake your hand.

Have a safe trip, mate!

I am a miner, so I need some reason to let my wallet works. With 1.5% per annum POS mining is not interesting.

Well, I'd also like it to be 1.5% per month. Dunno if that disrupts the whole thing or changes the perceived value or whatever economics, something is going to get affected.

The hoarders would prefer to hoard ... You can actually just use the QT wallet normally every day for a few hours a day or less and it will do POS mining when it gets the chance, you simply miss out the compounded interest if you don't open the wallet for a long time, but that is very small.

I don't know about everyone else, but if it was 1.5% a month, I would be more inclined to hoard all the coins I could get.  I think at 1.5% per year, it's a nice surprise when it mines a small bit of change, instead of something that I'm expecting all the time.

Now I wouldn't complain if it was 1.5% per month, but I would probably hoard more than I have.  Just my $.02

The idea is that people earn and sell/spend their rewards, so the 1.5% a year is just a bonus for people to open their wallets sometimes and contribute to the safety of the network. Any more and yes, it encourages hoarding and that's not what this coin is about...
