@tagbond, I'll still buy it, I don't care if it uses Windows (actually, I prefer Windows.) It will not be doing anything but mining anyway.

My toxics are getting 750KH with the 1080/1500/TC 8192 settings on Windows 7. I didn't feel like going any further with messing around with them, but they are solid at those speeds at about 68-70 degrees. I'm guessing you would have yours cool enough to have a colony of penguins on . I'm interested in trying the 1800 memclock setting you posted in that link Dabs, but that's one hell of an overclock. I think in a month or two you'll find someone that pushes them to 850kh. I remember when I got my 7950s and people were amazed I got 600kh on them. A few months later I found the settings to get them to 640kh while undervolting them. Give it time, and someone will have these 280Xs mastered.

And on if there's a temperature gremlin nearby. One thing is for sure, I'm prepared for summer. I tried 1800 on my MSI's, didn't do anything, on one of them it slowed it down. I'm near my power limit on that particular system, so that might be part of it. I've heard great things about the TOXIC series, so I'm looking forward to trying them out. I was lucky, I just happened to be near a screen when I saw the amazon window refresh and show several in stock. 1-click buy-it-now snagged the quantity I desired, and about 2 seconds later they were all gone.

The only thing I read that worries me about the toxics is that they run a little more power hungry. I accounted for that with my PSU, but I'll be keeping an eye out for when people undervolt them and get better results than the stock settings. So just a heads up with trying to pack a bunch of them into a tight window of wattage. -Fuse

Would like to see KH before/after undervolting, so if you find any good links post them up. I don't mind saving wattage if I don't lose a lot of KH

Isn't this pool close to breaching 51%? Someone might need to warn them to stop taking in extra miners. http://tag.botpool.net

Isn't this pool close to breaching 51%? Someone might need to warn them to stop taking in extra miners. http://tag.botpool.net They've hit 500MH+ before. From what I'm told, 51% doesn't matter unless someone decides to do something malicious with it. So as long as the pool OP is legit, and the pool is secure, we're ok... from what I'm told. Tagmining.com JackpotI wanted to say congrats to this weeks jackpot winners on Tagmining.Com. I gave away 120TAG this week, split between 3 miners. Remember that Sunday at midnight starts the new week's count, so you've got some time to get an account created and point a miner at the pool for next Saturday's jackpot drawing. Toxic GPU infoAlso, for those of you that are running Toxic cards, Vesperwillow is recording some interesting numbers on settings, speed and wattage in the post here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=324938.msg4188368#msg4188368So thanks to Vesperwillow for taking the time to test these cards out! -Fuse

Just got 24 Tagcoins, thank you very much Never thought I can win. I started with just one 7850 and was buying others during couple week. BTW, it was not easy

I've finished preliminary testing. It does very well in my mining rack, I like it. We'll see how long it lasts, I hope it's a workhorse like the MSI series has been.
800kh is achievable without so much as a sweat, 750-760kh is also not an issue and uses stock clocks. Lots of flexibility.
Looks like the manufacturers have re-thought their coolers for the R9 series, and they perform "properly" (as I deem it) in open case designs. Mixed results in closed-case. Much better than the stock 79xx coolers.

Someone here has 550 MH/s. The so called 51% attack, requires someone to actually attack the network. In practice, he'd need maybe 70+% and a sustained effort, and everyone would notice because there will be a fork.
That's also on the assumption that you know how to attack it.
It is more profitable to just mine normally even if you have 90% of the network.
Case in point, Fuse, do you know what to do? Not in theory, but to actually carry out an attack.

Not at all... which is why I opened registration back up even though we were running as the top pool and growing last week. Besides, it would be absolutely pointless to attack the very coin I have spent so much time backing and working on a pool for. I'm guessing it's the same for the botpool op.

Exactly. The only reason to attack the network is to attempt a major double spend.
Well, another reason is to manipulate the price so they can buy TAG at a very low price. Why bother tho, they can just mine it normally.
There's nothing that merits a double spend now. Not yet.
51% attacks don't make financial sense. It's all theory. That goes for all coins, including bitcoin.

Part of a coin's safety, longevity and value, is how safe it is from such attacks. All the more reason for more folks to mine tag

Speaking of which, how would I go about running either my own pool, or running something like p2pool? I'd like to see how it's done, if Fuse doesn't mind. Doesn't mean I'd set one up though ... but 1% or 2% of 50~100 MH/S looks good. I'd probably add my own miner too, since 1% of 100 MH/s is only 1 MH/s and a 4 GPU rig is more than double that already.

Dabs, sorry for the late reply. I've been sick the last few days, and I haven't been as active as I usually am. Getting a regular MPOS stratum pool up and running is relatively easy to do if you follow the MPOS instructions to a t. The only thing you need to remember is that Tagcoin is a POS coin as well, so you need to make sure you get the POS branch of the stratum-litecoin-mining git project. Other than that, it's just a lot of configuration. If you aren't running on high-powered servers, dedicated or otherwise, remember to shut off the live stats. I learned the hard way that they take a toll on your CPU usage, especially if you start pulling a lot of pool workers(not accounts, but workers). As far as P2Pool goes, I've never tried. I would guess it would be as easy as setting up the wallet, pointing the p2pool service at the wallet, and testing it out. I'll take a look and see how hard it would be. I'll report back with what I find. -Fuse Edit- Dabs, take a look at https://github.com/forrestv/p2pool. Pretty straight forward on the setup, assuming you some general knowledge in the services used. If you decide to go down that road, and need some help, let me know.

Just letting everyone know...
I will be posting 25TAG to the TagBond Exchange every day... starting today - 31 December 2013... at a price that matches or beats the Crypsty price at the time of posting... I am trying to push some volume through the exchange in hopes that we can start the momentum moving for the exchange to help encourage Mark and the team to make the exchange a top-priority.
I just posted 25TAG to the TagBond Exchange at BTC.00095 each... that is better than the current Crypsty price... get them while you can!

That's a neat idea, I may do the same thing to match - but will be putting it through tagcash.com (or tagbond.com via the tagbank, it's the same thing). The bter style exchange will be up till we sort out any bugs, but perhaps we can test it out the new one by trading TAG on there as well, or instead... the other thing is that on the tagcash side, you will be able to buy TAG using any other crypto we have listed, IF someone wants to trade it..

I've created a TagCoin Faucet over at http://tag.faucet.pimplounge.com/I would love to see the community grow and I only hope that people keep donating to the Faucet.. because without donations, it's useless.

Mark, I have been depositing my TAG through the 'TagBank', then syncing across to the exchange to list as trading seems to be disabled in the TagBank or least I am not able to sell TAG for BTC, it seems that I can sell TAG for PHP though. So I have been listing my TAG through the TAG exchange. Here is today's listing of 25TAG to the TagBond Exchange at BTC.00096 each... current Crypsty price at time of listing was BTC.00096750
