I don't think Freebitcoin was a Ponzi scheme from the very beginning, or even if they had planned to become one. I lean towards the possibilty of them taking bad choices with the money of their depositors and not taking options which would have helped them to remain liquid in the long term.
I don't think their faucet was the actual problem which pushed them to take this direction, if anything I would blame the implementation of their FUN token, they were promising too much and tried to hold to those promises, in detriment of their liquidity in tokens and also in Bitcoin.
In the worst case scenario, were were asking for investors in their bankroll as part of their efforts to avoid default, but it did not work out and decided simply to take all the money which was left and run away, which is the worst outcome for a long-standing platform like this one.

So, it looks like this is really it this time. I remember defending FreeBitco.in 2-3 years ago when almost everyone was saying they were finished, but now with my withdrawal pending for like forever



well, I'm not defending them anymore. It's a shame really, they used to be legends. Too bad they didn't have the guts to quit with some decency — announcing their exit beforehand and giving their customers a chance to withdraw funds without any complications. It's a shame.

1 year and 2 months ago they stopped to give me my WOF daily. After a couple of tickets with no result, i withdrew all my btc from there, leaving 100.000+ FUN tokens staking further. That was a mistake, best decision at that point should have been to withdraw the FUN tokens as soon as possible.

As a team who's running 20 faucets, and been doing it since 2017 we can share a few more important details.

The longer you've been running your faucets especially since the 201X years (FreeBitco.in started around 2013) - then the higher your risk is.

It's very interesting. Running 20 faucets is a serious thing, they are 20 domains and 20 separate websites and all of them need a support who in the best case knows some technical aspects of each available cryptocurrency.
By the way, since you mention that the longer you run the faucet business, the higher your risk is, why do you still run the faucet business? I read your article from freebitcoin.in and I think that it's not that risky long-term if you keep things under control and follow the advices that you listed.

Well, at least this cannot be ruled out. Figuratively speaking, they might deliberately process withdrawals for a small group of new users, who would then rush here to say that everything’s fine. However, this approach is still pointless, because if they try to create the illusion that everything is fine in this way, it will ultimately drive away the remaining users even more.

There aren't too many features available at Freebitco. Still, a new issue arises when the Freebitco team solves an old issue. Some other users had also reported in the past that their WOF spins were working, while it wasn't working for most of the users. Anyway, I won't consider these minor changes as a positive step as long as they don't start to process the withdrawals again.

We run 20 different sites but we use Intercom to aggregate all inquires into 1 platform, so this way it's easier to provide support for all users from all sites.

When they shut down FreeDoge.co.in they had full transparency with their users because they believe in their business FreeBitco.in, so they told everyone "We continue with FreeBitco.in, only this side project is closing" and that was fair enough.

Today however it has changed completely.

Back then 0.00001 BTC would be worthless and nowadays it's worth over a $1

You're right, and the more the time goes by they would realize they simply cannot pay everyone, this is the harsh truth behind it.
This is why we changed our faucets from hourly to daily rolls and introduced several other changes.
Users criticized us back in early 2024, but they can appreciate towards 2026 that we're still live.
Practically, looking into things now many users are happy with this.

Is this info still valid? Because all this WOF spin is useless even if they distributed double the rewards if you can withdraw your balance.

Gambling part of the casino was always profitable no doubt with that. The largest culprit I believe was the use of user deposited funds.
Many people deposited their bitcoins for the sake of interest provided by them. The interest was not unrealistic for a casino to provide for the bankroll investment but I believe freebitco.in used the deposited bitcoins to invest on other places.
The problem started to show when the price of bitcoin went bull and passed the 100K mark. Many people decided its time to book some profit on their bitcoins. When many people withdrew, they didn't have enough of them in bitcoin. Other sectors, alts or fiat based investment didn't rose to the same degree as bitcoin did. The fall is a one thing and the irresponsible scam behavior from the operator also suggest the operator decided the funds would be enough for him to live all his life in luxury and should not bother running for a small commission from the bankroll but run away with the whole bankroll.
