The campaign manager did the right thing to put the campaign on hold and do his own inquiry of the situation, though, I have the feelings wetsuit and TheQuin completely abandoned their contact channels long before the campaign manager took the decision to pause the campaign.
The most obvious thing to assume is both those people being aware of the mess and wanting to completely dettacht themselves from all of it.

But it is obvious law enforcements give priority to mixers than exit scams, so even if the USA and the Union European decided to prosecute people behind Freebitcoin, it could take a very long time before we see some good news.

I didn't know that if you hit the deposit button, that window was popping up. Now I checked it myself and as I see, that window appears on withdraw button too and it's not only about Bitcoin, the same thing happens to FUN token deposit/withdrawal button too. That's been my theory since the very beginning when the problems started happening, but most of those who discussed this topic thought it wasn't true. Professionals who could solve a problem in a few days cannot overnight become amateurs who need months to do so.

 From what I have seen and experienced I'm B.C. Game. Which they were having some withdrawal issues and scammed accusations but came back to clear their withdrawal issues and clear their reputation again to good one and stay here for some months or year (s). And the things of withdrawal problem and scam accusations repeated itself again and finally now they have left the forum. So if freebitco comes backs after all these years. The potential trust will not be there again.

I just took a look at the social posts about Funtoken on Coinmarketcap, it seems the project continues to develop, or at least launch games for people to play, even though the value of the token has decreased about 76% since it has announce by Binance they were going to cut support and close all markets related to the token.

What is even the point of releasing games when the whole economy and liquity of the token is getting crushed in such spectacular way?

There is two possible reason.

1 - They intentionally did it so the players cannot access their account anymore.
2 - They are unable to fix it. If they are using their own hosted email server, it is probably failing to send emails. The easiest solution would be switch to Resend. I had a problem with one site where everything was fine, but the email was rejecting by gmail. So, I had to switch to resend and they have free packages as well. However, for company like Freebitco.in, they will need a paid subscription since they will send a lot of email.
