It's getting ridiculous here. People are now investing just because of the hype or just from watching the scores given by Icobench, ICOratings etc.
You're doing it wrong. You should look at the team and the experience they have, whether this project exists already (e.g we have Monaco, TenX, Centra, MoxyOne and many others) and none of them actually delivered 100% what they promised etc. so unless you really see the potentials on the project, you really shouldn't invest. Ignore the moon bullshit they are trying to feed you.
This is valid for both bounty hunters (because they are wasting their time) and ICO participants (wasting money).

It is true. The new marketing tactics for most ICO projects nowadays is to conduct airdrop to create hype for the project. And this creates a false hype and fomo. Most of the ICOs had been in the red and not making extravagant profits like in the past. So everyone has to be more selective nowadays

Exactly, we should invest wisely, select the best not because of the hype. We must not be fooled by those ICO projects with false promising profit. Be careful, so you won't regret at the end.

Before handing over even a single penny; one must ensure that the receiver deserves. Most of the people here would be the persons who may have saved certain surplus funds with them earned by their hard work. So do not invest in some project because someone is doing so or some persons are advising to invest there. First of all study the project; read white paper; check the past experience of the team behind the project their goals for the current project. In case the team is unknown or new to the market and the project is also new then think twice before investing. If the project is already running; then check check results and what are the expansion plans.

Investing any crypto currency required a high experience and knowledge in order for you to succeed. Don't just buy alt coins cause saw that it is low price. You need to study everything first before making a decision. always check the volume and it's 24hours to help you make a decision in choosing some altcoins.

Invest wisely and invest on your own risk!
Most of the people are investing on cryotocurrency due to make quick profit not based on the technology or the future usage so they don't invest on the potential coins either.

Yes, I've seen so many new investors here in the forum that's only looking for hype ICO's which eventually end up being a scam. There's a lot of things you also need to consider in choosing the right ICO specially the concept and how they're going to make it such as transparent steps like partnership with other companies, etc. That's why I made a thread where I share my criteria or steps on how I choose ICO where in i'm going to invest. You can check it here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=3196383.msg33152916#msg33152916 Because i want to help new investors to start with the right way because soon they're going to be the face of the new cryptocurrency.

That is why, before investing, I recommend that all newcomers have at least some time to look at the market, to study successful projects, as well as unsuccessful ones. Understand what is the difference between them. If you start investing with at least a minimum of knowledge, you will have a better chance of making a profit, rather than losing money.

You really nailed it. People just want quick money and invest in ICO without proper research about the project and the team. Recently we hardly see any project completed the promises. Monetha ICO was ended in minutes and today Monetha is releasing their product App let see they delivered or not what they promised.

Hype is one of the biggest indicators for short term success, it won't help identify a project that will succeed long term but if a project isn't hyped you're mostly better off not buying at ICO and waiting till it hits an exchange at a discount.

Hype is simply the result of how well marketing teams do their job. We as investors need to do our part by making sure that they are worth our time and money.

I agree. The presence of loud advertising and famous personalities will not protect your investment. First of all, I draw on the presence of a smart contract, and then I look at the team's experience and the availability of a work product.

True. If people did a research about the team and the concept, It will reduce the number of scaams too. Best example is Denaro. That scam project used free stock images for team members. That all have discovered after the scam done. Most of investments are only based on friend's guides, Forum Talks, and guesses. Not researches. I wonder how much money are wasting daily on these scams and fail projects.

True, and a lot of people just blindly invest because john mcafee tweeted about them, even though he has already been outed as a paid shill. One thing that is quite rare is a public figure who is part of the development, this shows it is not a scam project - although it is still not guaranteed to succeed.

It's just a natural course of events that happened before to all disruptive technologies. Many people don't even have an idea what they are investing into. They heard that you can invest 500$ and make it 50k overnight and that's why they are here. In a few months only the smart investors will stay in crypto.

I agree that one should invest only in the project this person considers to be strong enough. However, the same doesn't hold for traders. They shouldn't care what they trade, team, project's idea and other things like that don't matter. What does matter is high marketcap and trading volume, regular fluctuations, some decent age of the coin confirming it. I think the main problem is rich newbies who spend a lot and then panic they'll lose it and stuff. I really don't understand who else can sell coins when the news are like 'facebook will ban crypto ads'...

Yeah I totally agree with your opinion because that is what happening these days most especially to newcomers. I am a newbie in this crypto world but I am too choosy about selecting the right one to invest. I have to make sure I won't regret my decissions. That is why we should be picky and doing our own due diligence is a must.

Yes it is, you're right. But anyway, everyone is responsible for their own actions, the bad thing is that many people just catch good and promising ads and no one thinks before that. But it has always been in that way and will continue to be so in my opinion.

I often think about this and sometimes I like to ask myself, does the rating site provide value or an objective review? Because I really doubt it, I better get stuck myself rather than get stuck by someone else's suggestion and make someone else lose.
