I think because lots people can't setup the wallet and can't wrap their head around how GRC actually works. Lots of complicated concepts, config file editing in obscure windows directories, we still haven't mobile wallet, which is a big deal. Most people these day's don't even use pcs, they just use their iPhones and iPads. We are still growing at a steady rate, but we could do much much better me thinks.
You are right, but I have a good feeling about additional dev power. One way or the other, we will get support for mobile devices and all-in-one solutions that grandma will be able to use

If you are a newcomer to Gridcoin I suggest giving it a try. It also shows you exactly why you earn how much and how much you earned exactly with each individual project.

We have a nice advertisement banner running on boincstats.com again. Last time we advertised for a month we jumped from 500 to ~1400 active researchers. I am looking forward to see the number rising so fast again

No, it is very alive. 1300+ solo researchers ( http://www.gridresearchcorp.com/gridcoin/?result&t=CPID_Leaderboard) and an additional 100 on the pool ( http://pool.gridcoin.co/) BOINC is also still running, it has been around since much longer than Gridcoin actually. What is the problem with BOINC, do you not get any Work Units?

Hello everyone!
Here comes a probably stupid question:
Does the wallet needs to run on the same machine as boinc does?
Boinc runs on a win8.1 system and i would like to run the wallet on a separate ubuntu machine.
Any problems to expect?
Thanks and regards, djoser.

yes. just add the same project you are crunching to boinc on your ubuntu maschine where your wallet is runing and click no new tasks for that project.

Make sure you have connections to peers. If so, just wait...sometimes it takes several hours to sync, after an initial install. Patience is key here, even if it looks as the wallet doing nothing. Cheers, djoser. BTW: What the frog is going on with GRC/BTC price today??? Any obvious news i missed?

It will be a lot quicker to sync if you use the snapshot... http://download.gridcoin.us/download/downloadstake/signed/snapshot.zip provided on the official Gridcoin site. Once download just extract to the appropriate directory and it should sync the remaining blocks relatively quickly.

Can someone explain me the economics of GRIDCOIN?
I do understand that miners use their calculating power to help scientific researches and then are rewarded with GRC.
However I don't understand how does it work on the customer side, if a lab need some computational power does he needs to pay the miners? Or he can use the miners for free?

If a scientist or a commercial entity wants to get computational power from Gridcoin they will have to setup their own Boinc project, which then has to be vetted by the Gridcoin community and voted on for acceptance into the whitelist: http://gridcoin.us/Guides/whitelist.htmCan someone explain me the economics of GRIDCOIN?

Thanks for your answer traderman but that does not explain what is the purpose of the coin? When some projects are in the whitelist and use the computational power, do they have to use Gridcoins ? Sorry but it is still confuse for me even if this project seems really interesting.
