This is one attitude that always keep so many people away from reaching a stage of  financial freedom. Having money is very simple but the ability to control the velocity at which money flows in your hand is the most difficult thing so many people are fighting with. The means at which I use to prevent myself from spending on unimportant things is by keeping my credit card at home when no important financial transaction is not needed.

Just tell yourself that if you are buying that thing then you are going down with the investment and making your savings worth savings! There is thing called as finance management and if you try to do it then you will help yourself from spending on unwanted things. I know these kind of expenditures always happen with everyone, even I have spent huge amounts of money on the things which I never wanted to buy. So at the end when you will valuate those things and will ask yourself what if you have put that money somewhere else and gotten huge profits then it could have been something different really. So more or less morality plays the game.

I dont know if it is just me or others also experience it. I always set goals financially, set limits in spending and trying hard to save but most of the time no matter how i tell myself to refrain from spending in unnecessary things whenever i see something i really like even if i dont need it i cant resist buying it that cause me to regret later. Are you familiar with this situation?
It's also a problem for me that when I hold a lot of money but often can not manage all the money I hold, buy products that are only useful for a moment but not useful for the future, very unfortunate when buying items that are really not needed and how useless, controlling wasteful habits is difficult, however, it is not impossible to do so, to save expenses, to make sure what you need and how to buy it, only then can you keep your personal financial condition, the most accurate is not to save money cash a little makes me a little sparing often lazy to take money at the ATM and only when in need when taking money.
Of course for people here it is better to invest some money held for the future to improve personal finances sometimes necessary for more important things.

Dont apply for credit if you cant control spending in unnecessary things. Or if you already have,  leave it in your home if you are going to the mall or if you can avoid going to malls.  Have someone to remind you about spending habit so you wont go beyond the limit. Make a budget of your money and focus on it. Avoid friends who are happy go lucky.

almost the majority of people are experiencing problems like those that face it, even including myself, but now the habit is gradually lost from me.

Input from me may also work for you, "Buy something or something to suit your needs, and Do not Buy anything or anything to your liking".

Because if we always obey our wishes, there will never be satisfaction, even if everything you get.

Some people don't know what exactly their needs and wants so they mistakenly choosing wants versus needs which lead them to more debt and sometimes we spend more than what we earn. So better know your priorities and avoid over spending, make a list of your monthly dues. Yeah it's hard to save when you're not that determined but if you really do then you'll see it's all worth to save up for the future.

Me, as well do not know how to control myself in buying unnecessary things that I also regret later on after buying it and needing money later. No matter how many times I tell myself to do not waste money or to not spend money to not so important things, I always ended buying these things which I really regret later on. It is true that discipline is the only key for us to stop doing things like spending too much especially to things that are not so important and needed. If we only know how to discipline ourselves, surely we can control ourselves from doing such things and save money instead.

I think this attitude of having good discipline in ourselves is a key of controlling our emotion of spending on unimportant things. Because we can really assist ourselves if we really need that things that we are going to buy if it is very useful in our family or in our day to day living. And also having self control and good assessment are the best attitudes to maintained to stop buying unimportant things inorder to save our money for the most needed things in the future.

yes that's where the overflow of lust, the nature of human being so calm, I'm also familiar with the situation, so How do i keep myself from spending on unimportant things ? the one way is to restrain the lust and remember about something that has been planned and something that really be a top priority then I suggest that to live a simple life and maintain a lifestyle, which makes a person poor is he has a lifestyle that is more than he has, it is okay to sometimes buy the things we want it, will be an achievement of inner satisfaction. Simple life is the key

Focus on the important things only. The things that will take you closer to your goals each day. As you focus more on the important stuff, you will have less time to bother about the unimportant things. This will help you achieve more. And once you form this habit, you will never bother about the unimportant things.

Make money difficult, easy money, want to form good spending habits!

Reasonable planning in advance can avoid irreparable damage caused by bad decision making.

Spend your money on self-investment, by enriching yourself, improving your personal abilities, and making more money.

I feel I am buying less things I don't need by getting older, maybe getting more rationnal with experience in life or less materialistic. Hard to tell the reason.

Also following your expenses in detail (like in Excel) can help to minimize useless purchases.

This is also nice to keeps saving your money from spending unimportant things. Allow yourself to spend the very important things that you ca survive a day. Always think of saving money for the future without having a goal you cannot do this.

Sometimes I have such cases, but I try to restrain myself from such ill-considered purchases. I inspire myself that I do not really need those things that sometimes I so much want to buy. I convince myself that it is better to spend money on something more useful or to postpone to collect for a large-scale purchase. That is, I try to think in advance, and not give in to gusts.

The best way for me to stop from spending my money on unimportant things is by going out with just a fix amount of money in my pocket.
In that way I wouldn't spend my money in uncertain things or the things that I don't really need .
It really helps me to save money because even if I am tempted to buy something I couldn't do it at the moment because I don't have extra money in my pocket.

Are you familiar with this situation?

I would advise you to research how many people suffer because there is no money, how many people suffer because there is no food, how many people suffer because there is no water to drink, how many people are on the street because they are not home ... how will this help you? Look:

this is my country, see:

Is something very sad, every time you buy something unnecessary, think that you could use this money to save the life of someone who needs of money. every time you buy something unnecessary, think that you may also be in this situation if you do not have brains and spend your money irresponsibly

I like to enjoy every day of my life and dont care much about my future.

 Shocked

who live with you? If this person reads your post, they will run away

Well same as me I spend cryptos for unimportant things or converting my cryptos to fiats to buy unimportant things. Well we do have different strategies or ways on how are we going to control ourselves from spending on unimportant things. There's a wallet that's exclusive in our country wherein you can directly convert btc to fiats and withdraw it to atm bank machines or withdraw it from banks. So in order for me to avoid unnecessary withdrawals I do things that will empty my wallet such as:

• Putting it to paper wallet and store it somewhere safe in our home.
• Investing it to ICO's (A little bit risky)
• Making a new Bitcoin online wallet (not the wallet from my country) and storing some of my btc's there. Because if it's in my countries wallet i'm tempted to withdraw it.

Well just like what i've said we do have different styles/strategies on how are we going to control ourselves it's for us to find out where are we comfortable at.

Very interesting question.
I once made huge mistake and spend much more money than I could afford to spend.
After that bad experience, I use a smarter strategy.
First, I check my income and than I decide how much I can afford to spend each month.
For such strategy you must have good self-control.

Well, everybody out there must have felt this problem of spending on redundant things and regretting later. To prevent this, first of all do not react to FUDs, they can cost you hell lot of a money (by money I mean losses). Further, keep researching on any currency, that your gut says can fetch you profit. Trust your research, and never take a panicky decision in consideration with your investment. A decision based on an FUD or anything instant or panicky, might make you regret later. So, the best way to avoid spending on unimportant things is to invest your money. That'd reduce your expenditure and increase your revenue. Wink
