I will make an "Other languages" board

But you need to promote nxt here also, in the Italian section

Why can't an address be created that you associate a password with like Bitcoin?
It's just a different approach.

Either you have wallet.dat file with private keys which you must hold in dark cold place, affraid of viruses, bad blocks and your mom cleaning room early morning. Or you have just long passphrase associated - in your brain olny! - with some good old times when grass was greener and light was brighter... oh, nevermind Smiley

Both ways have some weak points, both required to understand things, both give you good ability to lost everything you have.

And I not even speak about thermorectal cryptoanalysis! Cheesy

Ha, very nice!  I agree with you, both have weak points.  People can stress about a wallet file on their desktop that could be stolen, destroyed with the computer, etc..  I think there are ways to improve security with Nxt model, such as limiting unlock attempts per minute for a specific IP, or perhaps locking a specific Nxt address to an IP as an option for the user, so you could only login from a specific IP address, etc..  There is room for improvement and the good thing about Nxt is you won't get the online hosted wallet thefts like BTC is seeing.
Even if implemented, the bolded suggestions would be easily circumvented through custom code, since Nxt can be run entirely locally and doesn't rely on a centralized server/client model.  Especially after Nxt source code is released.

Unlike Bitcoin, Nxt presently relies solely on brainwallets as the means of user authentication.  There is no "cold storage" alternative offered.

Type anything like

NW948YN3V95YN0PWS93498934N376N095HG857028MEOAWMFYCNOQA789O837QY8

Save it and use as a cold storage passphrase.

I am reading about NXT a lot, but still can´t understand how the calculation and validation is working?

Is my PC actually doint anything if I am running the client? Wht does it mean if I process a block? What happens in the background? (I would also try to summarize it and add it to the FAQ if I would understand that) Smiley

Could someone please answer this?

Ur PC broadcasts transactions and blocks. And mine them. Read what Bitcoin client does, Nxt similar to it.

Does my client need to be running to "mint" new NXT coins?

Your server in cmd/terminal needs to be running and account needs to be unlocked in client (browser). Once you do that you can even close the browser but keep server running. I think?

Correct.

Unlock is the same as login. All you need is your pasphrase, which should be 30+ chars.

We should fund all the accounts of known passphrases with 1 NXT to prevent the use of it.

Good idea, but who will contribute such a huge number of NXT? Smiley

How about kill two birds with one stone?
Create a script to send 1 NXT (with 1 more NXT as the tx fee) to the addresses created by the dictionary from the unclaimed account every minute. The tx fee can help to increase a little bit incentive of mining. Smiley Moreover, this can be a good penalty to those unclaimed owners.

Maybe only the top 1000 of often used bad passphrases? Grin
