NXT does have fundamental value. It is the first crypto that pays dividends. Please do not underestimate this.
I do not. Nothing fundamental, no warranties, but something brand new and great potential. There're risks altogether. That's my point of view.

And does not require pre-installed java.
Devs can add Java installer to client installer file. So there'll be more of "Next" button.

ZeroTheGreat,

Have you read Fundamental Analysis? Have you followed Berkshire Hathaway?
I mean fundamental value using Buffet's definition of lifetime future cashflows. Are you saying that NXT has no forging payouts?

If NXT has forging payouts, then it has future cashflow. The only issue and maybe this is what you are saying that since the payout is in NXT, that all future cashflows are potentially without value? I admit, I haven't worked out the conversion from lifetime future NXT to lifetime future cash, but since we are mapping NXT to fiat and we all know what fiat is actually worth, I think there is most definitely a non-zero mapping of lifetime future NXT from forging to fiat.

I am talking about math here. Not opinions. What is your math that says that there is no fundamental value to NXT forging?

Why do you seem to be angry? I am simply stating the facts. Nxt at the moment is a very small community, volunteers works with others a lot here and at nextcoin forum. If you feel like you have done your part, then fine. We will leave it at that.

Your first words to me were.

I read aldrin's post and I don't even know what to say. You shouldn't just sell but also contribute to NXT's cause. I have not seen you much.

You know nothing about me, and yet your first comment was basically

"wow, I'm speechless, I just read aldrin's post - where does that guy get off - all he's doing is selling his NXT and he wants a medal! GET ACTIVE ASSHOLE, like me (utopianfuture). NXT wont survive unless you're visible, like me (utopianfuture)"

You're the angry one! I feel great!!

edit: and I'm active, and will be in the future, so you're original assumption is false, and your tone was rude (but I'm not angry)

...I'm running 2 nodes, I'm reading A LOT of NXT forum threads trying to learn how to setup nodes on Ubuntu VPS's - that's a huge leap for me requiring many hours.

please get with me, I can help with your VPS issue.  I am running 8 very high performance VPSs and I could use your hallmark if your account balance is very high.  Im not an original stakeholder with millions and milllions of n NXT and my VPSs would really shine if they had a very heavily weighted hallmark

When the Nxt account is unlocked and hang mining, I hope to have functional limitations sending funds to prevent malicious hackers transferred to others

Are you saying that NXT has no forging payouts?
Not at all. I'm saying we have some risks. So far good managing. I don't like expressions like "fundamental, fair, all people, 100%" and so on. World's pretty complex, everyone targeting his own goals, it's time to time very hard to calculate properly what will happen. But for sure I'd always remember: all things are relative. Value comes in front of many other things, it's very dynamic.

Two minutes ago I valued a chatting over all avaliable, now I'm starting to valuing more than any other some rest, cos system changed, my body programmed for some sleep for survive. Good night.

Ok, I will need to look into that some more, but I'm interested to help you. C-F-B actually setup my original VPS, and since the ddos attack I took the hallmark off as I thought that was the best advice.

I've also changed accounts to strengthen my password, so I'd have to redo the hallmark (which c-f-b did for me). I do have security concerns about unlocking a large account though (is that visible to other nodes?) I know hallmark is separate from unlocked/forging account, but before I get too heavily into things I want to know the security landscape a bit better.

I posted this yesterday but nobody answered so far.

Unfortunately, this is way too technical for me. I actually jumped into NXT because a friend recommended it, and when I read about it it sounded like it was the sort of alt coin that would be good for people who didn't know a whole lot about coding or programming, like you install and run it and you're good to go. Unfortunately, NXT has been the squirliest thing I've ever dealt with. I can see my account on the block chain and it shows that since I purchased the value has gone up fivefold, so I'm kind of excited about that, but I can't access anything.

Do you happen to know if the 4.8 release will come with an install wizard? It would be so much easier if it could be installed in one step and just done right from the beginning without me having to modify this or modify that.

am glad just a terminology thing. I can't help what Buffet called his methodology. I am using it to specifically mean the securities analysts meaning.

It is pretty simple to get the client going: https://nextcoin.org/index.php/topic,4.0.html

Where are you stuck?

I agree that it should be absolutely straightforward and instantly set up for those who don't want to fiddle though (it will happen).

wiser,

NXT is not even in beta release yet! It is alpha and not ready for the masses, yet.
Jan 3rd is the beta release date.
I doubt that will be ready for mass market consumption.
Being an early adopter has its costs. You are not missing out on a lot of forging revenue, so you could just wait for a double clickable end user installer. Not sure how long the wait will be

I have heard there are about 10 million unclaimed NXT. I have a plan that would make for great PR for the NXT founders.

All they have to do is vote to distributed a non-founder dividend from the future sales of these 10 million NXT. By setting specific prices with smaller and smaller volumes at higher and higher prices, the total donation of the founders will be many millions of dollars.

BCnext gave all the founders winning lottery tickets.

If all the founders voted to not grab any of the unclaimed NXT (worth millions of dollars), our opponents will somehow have to claim that the horrible greedy NXT founders VOTED to donate money they could have easily kept for themselves. Actions speak louder than words.

Let the cycle of generosity continue!

I know all the non-founders will like this idea of a dividend that only non-founders will get.
I sure hope the founders see the wisdom in doing what BCnext did and spread the wealth.

The PR value from this will be very powerful

James

I really like James' idea with this one. It would create a good buzz!

If a tree got "active" in the forrest, and utopianfuture wasn't around to see it, did the tree really get active?

I still don't see what your point is. I'm active dude! You need to be 'visible' because you want to be a player, but you don't have a huge stake, so you need to build public connections and community kudos. I totally respect that strategy. Please respect mine!

"hiding behind the annonimity" - good one 'utopianfuture'. What's your name? Oh, that's right, you're hiding behind the anonymity too, like about 99% of the freaks on this forum.

I'm done!

newcn,

If you want to just purchase NXT via ripple, you don't need to use peercover's site. I work with them, I am not actually part of peercover.

In ripple you can type in any currency combination in the dropdown, so type in "NXT/XRP" and select peercover as the issuer.

There is no need to go to peercover site until you want to withdraw.

James

@jl777

Thank you for your help, I've bought 17 nxt inside ripple, and now I want withdraw for testing purpose,
I went to peercover website, click "withdraw" and "nxt", input nxt accountid/my login email/amount, then click withdraw, but, how does your system know that 17 nxt belongs to my account? so, I still need to relate my existing ripple wallet to my peercover account, right? but, I can't find an option to do that(only create new wallet options)!
