I must admit, I use this thread all the time and also go onto the forums a bit.
For me, this thread is easier because it's closer to the fire, because CfB posts regularly and a lot.
Also, this seems the place where most people more directly involved seem to post.
Well I post on both forums, because I think a forum with different sections and threads is better than ONE gigantic thread. But I hope that something official will come from a dev. Even if it's just something like a verification for a existing forum. I post over there, too, and I do not mean criticism on the forum or administration. Hell, I've only been around for a week!

nextcoin forum or not, we would need an official forum pretty soon when all other activities blowing up, definitely before the launch of the asset exchange. If we want a forum other than nextcoin, then the sooner we have one the better. But it can't be denied that nexcoin has been helping a great deal in spreading the idea of NXT. It has been a place for a lot of good discussion regarding NXT brand, logo, bounties etc. One solution could be to have no official forum but rather several privately hosted forum which are all linked to the NXT homepage.

I have an URGENT feature request. Currently ALL addresses are valid and sending money to an acct create it. This is all cool and stuff, but one typo and money is gone forever.
Without changing too much of the code, I think if we just brought up a warning that "you are about to send money to an account with zero balance. Are you sure?" or even better would be to display some basic statistics about the account that is being sent to, time acct has been open, number of transactions, etc.
This way before irrevocably sending money to the void, we can at least do a sanity check on the type of account that will be getting the funds.
I do not advise going to a large scale deployment without such a safeguard. I just lost a lot of precious NXT due to late night sleepytime typo

That is a valid concern. Bitcoin and co has checksums in place that validate an address before sending to it. Is such a thing even possible with only digit addresses?

In fact I think you didn't, because of network corruption rejected payment But the suggestion is valid. Maybe display the Alias of destination account, like some banks did a few years ago.

That is a valid concern. Bitcoin and co has checksums in place that validate an address before sending to it. Is such a thing even possible with only digit addresses? This is a client issue. But, yes, you can check if an account is already funded by doing: http://localhost:7874/nxt?requestType=getBalance&account=[ACCOUNT_NUMBER]
A non-funded account will return all zeros for all fields. Edit: oh, and my opinion is that this would indeed be a very good feature to add to future clients. I'll point the Android client developer over here to take a look.

I am having troubles sending NXT. I triple checked the acct number. Sending dialog takes several seconds, then says money was sentç After a while I see what I am pretty sure is my transaction in the unconfirmed transactions box as soon as the next block is generated, it disappears
However, my acct is not being debited and the receiving account is not getting the money
I restarted java and localhost.
with blockchain site being upgraded, not sure how to track this down. How can it say it was sent, appear in unconfirmed, then disappear from unconfirmed but not do anything?

Can someone help me? I made a transfer on the 27th worth 17,000 NXT from DGEX.com into my NXT account (13480670143410523480). Up until today it was saying that the withdrawal was pending on DGEX, but now it is saying it has been completed. I haven't seen it in my NXT account yet. The transaction wasn't on the blockchain explorer yesterday, and I can't check it right now because the explorer is down. This is my transaction:
2013-12-27 05:19:38 Withdrawal fee 0.00000000 2013-12-27 05:19:38 NXT Withdrawal COMPLETED -17000.00000000
Should I be worried?

Yup. Still a work-in-progress but functional. See: https://nextcoin.org/index.php/topic,797.0.html

In my experience, and from what I've heard from others, all transfers from DGEX arrived. Pity we can't check the blockchain at the moment, but based on what I know about DGEX, I'd say you'll get the 17000, but will need some patience. Could also be that there is a delay due to work on the chain atm.

hello what block are you on? yesterday I downloaded NRS 0.4.7e from https://nextcoin.org/index.php/topic,4.0.html I sent 100 NXT to myself, I can see it on blockchain but not when I look at on https://localhost:7875/on top is block 27461 4071545868996394636 29. prosinec 2013 10:41:35 I think yesterday when I was looking at block window, blocks where updating every minute but it looks like now its frozen? if I reload the page or open https://localhost:7875/ I still see the last one 27461 what could be the problem?

This message is on the chain explorer: "We are moving to a bigger server right now. Database will be down for 24h. " http://87.230.14.1/nxt/nxt.cgi?action=3000&acc=6635869272840226493&offset=1edit: 28031 2584657662098653454 30-12-2013 02:07:02 0 0 + 0 0 B 1 15056068292291193239 622 % double-edit: Have you tried closing and restarting the java app itself? That is what usually helps for me. What also is recommended in these cases is deleting blocks.nxt and transactions.nxt and restarting everything to download the entire chain from scratch. Hope that helps

that is just the database for the website. To my knowledge it would take some truly advanced tech to update the blockchain on all the nodes!
I was on block 28000+, so the mystery remains about the missing sends...
