So, I'm trying to mine solo. On the cgminer end everything looks like it's working, but my wallet says "not mining stablecoins". Is this normal when using external miners or am I doing something wrong?

It sounds ok. The 'not mining stablecoins' pertains to in-app mining via CPU.

I just did some very rough calculations, and it looks like we will hit block 317000 on the afternoon of January 4.
Can someone confirm?

Hey guys, someone made some great points on SBC in the forums. Thought it'd be worth it to post it here:

Quote from: MatthewDC
Hello All,

I am fairly new to Crypto in general and SBC was the first coin that really stuck out to me. Mainly because I feel it is not over-inflated, it has a feature in the mixing service that has a lot of promise for the long-term trade, and it is not completely over-hyped or being pump and dumped by multi's.

The biggest issues I see in regards to the future of the currency and it's ability to gain market share are as follows:

1. The mixing service needs to show progress and Artos needs to offer consistent updates on it's status and keep active in the community. This will keep interest high and people looking forward to it's release. This also helps people feel as though the release is imminent and not a potshot as to whether or not it ever happens.

2. Artos himself is either a liability or the greatest strength of the currency. We know that the BTC source is fine and we know that the mixing service in theory sounds great, but Artos already abandoned the community once with no explanation and the mixing service atm is just a pipe dream for most involved. Anoncoin is theorizing a similar type system, is more stable, and seems to have more backing. Artos needs to be more active, more accessible, and more consistent in talking to the community through twitter, a blog, whatever the means may be. This will serve to ease the minds of those who are skeptical and keep them from jumping to Anoncoin which has the appearance of more stability.

3. The recent difficulty issues, the fork, the (in my mind) terrible communication during the process and tying that with what has happened with Artos in the past seems to be a deterrent for many. The talk is that he is shifty and possibly unreliable. This creates a lack of interest in even getting involved with the currency when other options exist.

These are just my 2 cents and the things I processed in my own head when deciding what currency to get involved with. Ultimately for me, I feel as though Artos is a normal guy with a life that gets in the way just like the rest of us, but I feel like he believes in and will support SBC as best as he humanly can. After reading through his posts and whatnot I feel confident that I can trust him. That being said, I also feel like SBC needs some kind of PR department or person to formulate public correspondence to make sure that it comes off better and more consistently (in an official capacity). Communication is the key to the success of any crypto.

Most importantly, from what I gather, we are waiting to hit 317,000 to fix the difficulty scaling correct? This to me is a good point at which we should start pushing for more frequent updates. Even if it is just thoughts, ideas, or statistics about SBC in relation to other coins, updates are useful. Start talking about hash rate goals, getting additional pools, or whatever, even offer rewards if we must, to help create additional interest.

Bottom line, I think StableCoin is a good long-term bet and I think anyone serious about crypto who reads into it and understands the mixing service will feel like its a bet worth taking. That is the strongest feature or interest building asset. I think right now, Artos and the history of StableCoin, along with the lack of official communication, updates, and the status of that service is the biggest detriment.

Just some thoughts. Thanks for reading.

- DC

Sort of what I've been saying all along, as well as others.

I've invested the better part of a month in mining SBC, virtually to the exclusion of other coins.  I have reached the point where I no longer feel justified in using GPU time on it, for the time being.

Over the next couple of weeks I am going to be making some moves and decisions as to where and how I spend my time.  If I don't see some improvement in all of what DC mentioned, then I will regretfully drop SBC.

Communication is vital to the survival of any commercial adventure, not just crypto-currencies.  We need periodic updates, pep-talks, and some professional level PR . . . and with the sketchy, stutter-start this coin had, we need it all in good time.

Think it's going to take a few more days. The network hash rate is hovering around 90Mh/s. I just threw another 4Mh/s at it to help get over the hump. If you can spare the miners, do it... let's get this thing rocking again. Smiley

Block time is hanging around 4 minutes. 980*(4/60) = around 2.7 days.

what happens first, block 317,000 or the mixing service? At this rate it may be the mixing service.

The difficulty readjusts correctly after that  block because as you might have noticed the diff algorithm is currently "broken"

He wasn't asking what would happen, he was asking which event would happen first, between block 317,000 or the release of the mixing service  Cheesy

Any of you interested in SBC, please take a look at this posting on the local forum and watch it for updates if it's something of interest.  Opportunity to support a project thats doing something similar to LocalBitCoins and option to get SBC integrated into it. Read caveats please as I'm just posting it to raise awareness.
