I know we just finished up the holidays and kicked off a new year, but to echo many of the comments before, what is the state of Stablecoin? Is coin mixing in alpha, beta, still a scribble on a cocktail napkin? Even if everything is behind, no news is worse than bad news.

In the blockexplorer, is value out the number of coins from the block miners get?
If so, why are there values like 5257.15637534?

Everything above the 25 SBC (+ fees) are actual transactions. 25 SBC is generated every block and that goes to the miner.

You'll see the first line in a block is something like 'Generation: 25 + 0.2 total fees'

For anyone that missed it on here, there is a 48 hour donation push for a LocalBitCoins equivalent project to build SBC into something that's already being developed for Quark and Earthcoin. Full details, basis and risks in linked post on SBC forum above.

So far it's received 3 donations and at almost 24 hours into the 48 hours not sure we're showing the developer there is a big SBC community out there! He works from donations, so hoping if we can show there are plenty of people interested with donations, even if small ones, it shows there would be an interest from the community in having SBC on the platform. May not be for everyone but at least I thought I'd raise it's profile.  Normal disclaimers apply.

It looks like when Europe comes online the hashrate increases. avg block time is now 300 seconds.

I've recompiled from git source and deleted the block chain on two separate servers, so it's downloading from scratch.

On one with 8 peers connected:
- 2 have a starting height of 3164xx (correct chain?), 6 have a starting height of 3349xx
- 2 have a subversion of /SBC:1.4.0/, 5 have a subversion of /SBC:1.3.0/, 1 has a subversion of /Satoshi:0.6.3/

On the other with 5 peers connected:
- 3 have a starting height of 3164xx, 2 have a starting height of 3349xx
- 1 has a subversion of /SBC:1.5.0/, 2 have a subversion of /SBC:1.4.0/, 1 has a subversion of /SBC:1.3.0/, 1 has a subversion of /Satoshi:0.6.3/

So it looks like there's ONE peer out of all those that is running 1.5 that will act properly post 317k? And a bunch of others still mining on the old chain. Doesn't look so good.

I'm reasonably confident that the 1.5 client I've freshly compiled will be able to handle whatever happens after block 317k, even with conflicting information from peers.

It's the others running old, older, and really really old clients (Satoshi:0.6.3 ?)  that I'm concerned about. I was only mining for about 30 minutes on the wrong chain; some of these people would have been mining for nothing, probably blissfully unaware, since the fork a couple of weeks ago.

Clients need additional code to automatically detect forks and notify the operator.

This could actually be a feature that sits alongside the mixing service. @artos can sign (with his private key) a checkpoint-like message that's included in newer releases to inform older clients about upcoming, planned forks. Every client that supports the mixing service will have the public key that can be used to determine whether a received checkpoint message is authentic. So, when clients advertise their version information, they might include (encrypted) information about a known, upcoming fork.

Dunno, just an idea.

EDIT: Actually, I read through the Bitcoin protocol docs and found the 'alert' message (see: https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Protocol_specification#alert) that can be propagated across the network by @artos. It appears he needs to change the Bitcoin ECDSA pubkey that's set in the source code to his own ECDSA pubkey to make use of it. It's intended to be used to send messages about upcoming forks and it appears it will even communicate these messages to the GUI client's status bar. Cool feature that shows some insight from the BTC developers.

Yes, making use of this would be a good idea, but even better if the client could detect a fork before the developer takes action.

BTW, I have a few old -qt clients for various obscure/dead altcoins which alert me about mandatory Litecoin upgrades every time I start them.

Hello, I have been PM'd by oncebitcoinedtwiceshy to explain a bit the situation. I am currently working on the Earthcoin and Quark only exchange. During the last weeks I've received lots of PM's by alt-coin developers for working on a site for their alt-coin. A lot of them have tryed campaigns like oncebitcoinedtwiceshy is doing for SBC. Some of them didn't get any donation (FZ, Nxt) so I am not working on them. SBC is a coin that I personally contacted the developer (artos) to try to get some support but never got a reply.

To show I am not a scammer, I have just sent all the received donations to the SBC development fund (shQpTvLDsgCURkfqyBuCjL79aqYwti2FEJ) and they will be released when project is finished. WIll update soon when I have more news.

Gus, I wanted to reply in public as well as the PM. Thank you very much for responding to my request so that we could clarify the other postings recently around various other coins and this project. We all know development projects are risky and hard to fix dates on.

The fact that you've replied yourself on this thread as suggested by me and provided details of the transfer of donated funds across into Artos's SBC Development Fund is a very good sign and will go a good way to building your reputation and goodwill within the community. I'm sure Artos will be in touch and will be able to release anything as required if this goes to completion.  I will ensure that the main posting on this in the local SBC forum is updated to reflect the situation so that it is clear.

As mentioned earlier, I encourage you to keep posting updates to this thread indicating any progress updates, help you may need, demos, screenshots or whatever. Even small regular updates of the status will keep the community on-board.

Once again, thanks for responding and I'm sure you understand why we wanted to get this clarified for all involved. This can only be a good position to be in going forward as actions always speak louder than words.
