Asking for upvote is against the reddiquette (the post could be moderated because of that)

This applies only to Reddit, I guess?

He is right:

Many burners are too lazy to install all the dependencies to sell their coins. Therefore, the web wallet may attract buyers slowly in long term, but bring a lot of sellers immediately.

Pretty much and besides, the web wallet would have already been priced in.

Expecting cheaper XCPs in the near future.

Yes, but at the current prices we are at 25% market cap of Mastercoin. A very attractive valuation.

that is the decisive point: either msc is massively overvalued or xcp massively undervalued, with respect to all other altcoins I have an opinion regarding that.

I was on the Worldcoin bandwagon in December. And I vividly remember being so hyped on new exchange additions and then Scharmbeck, and radio show appearances, one thing after another and the price went from over a dollar to 7 cents...

The difference here of course is that this is not a clone coin, this is something that has real value to add. I guess the thing I'm worried about most is that the web wallet comes out and *crickets*....  What will it take to outshine what Mastercoin is doing ? I watched the talk of decentralized _________ <== fill in the blank at Bitcoin Miami, Mastercoin, ethereum, and bitshares (invictus) were all there, nothing was mentioned about Counterparty. Strange. I'm still holding, just saying, it may indeed rely quite a bit on marketing even when you do have a useful protocol of great intrinsic value.

I thought there was going to be a greater focus on marketing once xcp is more user friendly? Makes sense intuitively to direct resources to ironing out technical issues, then focus on marketing, pr etc. when there is a more polished 'product'.

Indeed these are legitimate concerns. It is not enough to be great or even the best. I guess that is why people like me are HODLING!!! while others sell at .004-.007. No investment is guaranteed. For me, it is the competency of our devs that allow me to not sell and feel fairly confident about it. Anyway, we are early investors, it is our lot in life to have agita.

In my opinion, Counterparty will never have a flashy marketing campaign. The way the project has been run is to build the protocol and infrastructure in an open way in the same spirit as how Bitcoin evolved. As Matt Y has described, Counterparty is a grass roots product and it is up to you and me to make sure that there aren't only crickets to be heard when Counterwallet is launched.

How to guide for asset issuance ?

Code:
counterpartyd issuance [-h] --source SOURCE
                       [--transfer-destination TRANSFER_DESTINATION]
                       [--quantity QUANTITY] --asset ASSET
                       [--divisible] [--callable]
                       [--call-date CALL_DATE]
                       [--call-price CALL_PRICE] --description
                       DESCRIPTION
Example:

Code:
counterpartyd issuance  --source 1xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx --quantity 1000 --asset HALFCAB --divisible  --description Very good asset

Is anyone able to get this working?

It worked the first time a while back before they disclose the 5 XCP fee, and then the 5 xcp was removed from our address after the fee was implemented (retroactively apparently). But now he master branch has lost the issuance functionality (along with other degradations in usability).

Why go backwards?

That being said; That makes me think its one of the reasons bitcoin has been and will continue to be a success. It has these bouts of pessimistic market reception that reels in the price setting it up for another explosion, and it has always landed far higher than it started after each bubble bursts since as far back as 2011 maybe further.

http://mastercointalk.org/index.php?topic=231.0

so not sure if anyone in mastercoin can do this since we are working on the DEx stuff to get it out this week. But I ran across this virtual hackathon and coinbase is paying out 18k to 3 winners...

I thought perhaps if there anyone out there already familiar with android apps /html5 and nodejs probably could make a quick android app that authenticates with coinbase, pulls down the users btc addresses, runs those addresses against the blockscan json api, adds them up and shows the balance of XCP and other assets

and pulls down the contacts list, and emails them to download the app

If you add in MSC (use masterchain.info json api) we can award you some of the general innovation bounty money at the end of the month as well.

Counterpartyd version 6.6 allows dividend payments to be made in bitcoin: https://www.counterparty.co/pay-dividends-with-bitcoin/

Very cool.

yes but can someone explain how this is done?    these metaprotocols don't control btc,  the best one could do is provide the issuer admin a snapshop of btc addresses and % ownership.

If counterparty can command bitcoind to send bitcoin transaction fees I'm not sure why it can't command it to send any arbitrary amount, it actually seems rather trivial.

Edit: the whole point of rpc is to allow third party apps not juset access to read the block chain but to perform any action that bitcoind can perform; externally. Why can't counterparty use that ability and then add specifics concerning the bitcoin to the xcp database

Probably not on the protocol level, but we could do it on counterpartd level, such as having a command in counterpartyd gets the amount of asset that each address holds, and send btc proportionally to that with sendmany to minimize fee
