most people haven't even heard of this yet.. demand will *surely* go up.
Any coin with a rise this rapid will attract attention. Its happened so fast that nothing has been published yet.

Its been 2 hours already and my VTC deposit is not even in pending on cryptsy... is this normal?
Yeah it's not showing here either, even after 11 confirmations. I'm not worried though since I've just put them on Cryptsy to free up some space from my HDD and have got no intention to sell for now. This moron just selling his own coins on own exchange. Don't bother. When it's dumped, your deposites will be there.

I was about to buy VTC yesterday, but coinedup software discouraged me. Today its 100% up(+listing in Cryptsy). Is it too risky to get in now?
Looks like we will approach litecoin levels sooner than we first thought. I personally think we are headed to 0.1btc Boris thinks there is a chance of 1:1 with btc in the future. Vtc WILL go up, but there is a chance for a temporary dip as with all coins. So you can decide at what level you get in at, but definetly get in Definately 1 VTC will cost 0.5 to 0.8 BTC in the three to six months Never happening. in 3 months there will be something better out there momentum counts for a lot. And it will be hard to duplicate the smooth launch Vtc had by anyone else for sometime dude VTC is far from innovative. Asic prevention will only kick in in about two years, according to the chart on the OP (lol.) By then we will have moved on seomthing much better I fail to see why ppl arent dumping it. "Adaptive N-Factor" such BS branding. oh lawd Im not saying its some sort of innovative miracle. What I am saying is that it is the first of its kind to fill a hole in the market coupled with an amazingly smooth and solid rollout. Of course something different might come along, but thats the nature of the industry in general. What we are looking at is short and midterm value. Longterm is hard to predict. Bitcoin might/will itself be replaced in the longterm

The fact that everyone has caught onto Vertcoin so quickly is great as it ensures a much wider spread of the wealth. Litecoin was a slow burner, and as a result most of the wealth is held by a few. This combined with the ASIC resistance surely gives Vertcoin a value edge over Litecoin.

"Adaptive N-Factor" such BS branding. oh lawd Haha, you are only trolling here, because you were maybe mining branded shit called Ultra Coin instead of VTC? but Vert Coin is different story.. it is new era lite coin. It is just first coin with this adaptive n factor scrypt algo and it will be valued for it. Besides, it really has all other great features.. Kimoto Gravity Well which now just peforms briliantly.. before update, we had problems with diff UP and then holding there for days.. with KGW its just superb.. diff retargets very quickly.. also transactions are very fast! But most of all, VTC is not any marketing project. It was not premined, nor instamined. you can check oldest wallets.. no one there had tens of thousands coins.. and also, if you take a look at hypes that are every now and then at COPY PASTE PREMINED plain SCRYPT coins.. how can this be called hype? Not at all.. I was talking at IRC at dedicatedpool today, nobody there knows what VTC is still lot of new miners to come.. diff 75 will be soon 300 at least..

Like i said early on, the value of the coin is in the strength of the community. Value assigned to any of this is through belief of value. If the community believes (and are not just pump & dumpers), then this coin will surely go up..
Of all the Alt coin threads I've browsed, this one had the strongest community... and by that I don't mean the dev/founders who put effort around this coin.
It was individuals, volunteers that stepped up, in a distributed/decentralized way to get all this going... it's truly amazing to see it in action. And whatever happens.. to the price of this coin, I'm glad to have been part of it, even if peripherally.
Now, as opposed to popular belief that this was a smooth rollout, actually it wasn't. I was here at the beginning, and mined the first few blocks (on CPU).. went to the IRC channels when it was just being created. Website was not as nice as it is now.. miner software wasn't available, pool software wasn't available.. Someone was working on hacking together a cgminer.. I tried to mine with cudaminer and didn't work.. pool was up, down.. up down.. mods.. it was pretty crazy (but fun).
Yet all of this now just sprung up and built by this community... that's what makes this coin so different vs all the other thread/communities I've followed...
It definitely embodies the soul of the idea behind bitcoins... aside from just the innovation.
Go go VTC!

I'm mining hk.vertco.in I've been mining ~330khash for about an hour or so and don't see any confirmed or unconfirmed coin in my account in the pool web site, is this normal? Or does it sometimes take a while to see anything there?? Cheers.

Was it dumped at all? Price skyrocketed from 2 to 4, and then within few days to 50+... then kinda slowly, mostly because of China bans, fell to 20 ranges.. ok, but it is still 10x more than it was like while ago.. so it seems to me, on lite coin there was not really any big dump.. and this can replicate here as well.. Price still can rise pretty hardly.. Look at the hashrate.. its rising as hell..

On pool I was while ago there was only 1 block found in hour.. and that pool has 300 mhs+ even in pool mining luck is big part of game

If and when they do, we can expect another significant rise just like with Doge.

I suspect not.. people are still busy with CNY.. another reason why it should be still up from here.. Simple supply and demand driving this at this point.

I think the crappers are missing the point. N-factor *already* makes asics cringe. Why do you think our GPU's have such a hard time with this? a Generic Scrypt ASIC for LTC will not mine VTC well. Perhaps not even as close as GPU's mine VTC now due to the memory requirement. Memory is one of the highest cost aspects of ASIC. SHA256 requires very little, scrypt, *much* more, N-factor is magnitudes above that. In its current form, unless N-factor coins become more common even at a billion dollar Market cap, it may take a long time for someone to develop N-factor asics that are superior to AMD's next-gen chips.

dude VTC is far from innovative. Asic prevention will only kick in in about two years, according to the chart on the OP (lol.) By then we will have moved on seomthing much better I fail to see why ppl arent dumping it.
"Adaptive N-Factor" such BS branding. oh lawd
Wrooong. It's already ASIC proof against any scrypt asic that's why verts hashrate right now is just 50% of litecoins. Also the schedule isn't fixxed, the devs can always fork if asics WOULD come for a specific N before N changes which would render them useless and would be a huge money waste because they couldn't mine a day. It is and will be asic proof. We'll have moved to something much better? What do you think should be done better? If you have constructive cirtics to improve this coin just tell us your ideas. VTC is open to changes. Right now I see no problems with Vertcoin technically.

I would like to study time series of other coins ... when they came newly onto cryptsy. But the spikes or the age of the coin make it quite difficult.
Anyone got a good source for altcoin price charts?
* ideally, a start date and an end date for the chart can be chosen freely * with a freer time scale than 1D 1W 1M All * with a freely choosable Y-axis
Thx
