VTC just started to grow when the BTC panic hit. The VTC name still isn't that big so it's not going to have much buy support while this whole panic is going. For just an example, say 100 people are buying and 100 people are selling crypto, BTC price tanks due to flaw in bitcoin ( https://bitcoinfoundation.org/blog/?p=422) so now people are nervous and it's 150 people selling and 50 buying. The new VTC coin doesn't have much of those 50 remaining buyers because its too new and unpredictable in a currently heavily unstable market. It seems though as explained by Boris previously that some big players are taking advantage of this lack of buy support and lowering the price slowly and steadily to hoard a massive amount of coins probably waiting for this BTC crisis to be done with. It is way to soon to make assumptions about this coins demise with the current state of the market. Though most of the above is my speculation if anyone cares to toss in their opinion. Regardless of anything above, I've settled on this coin because I love the idea behind this coin and what it wants to accomplish along with the outstanding community support. I'll continue mining this coin regardless on how long it takes to succeed because I think the idea behind this coin is the one I want to settle on. Everyone has different views on crypto including just trying to make some money by mining what is most profitable and I don't think there is anything wrong with that because it's a market with money to be made like stocks but every now and then a coin comes out that might actually continue the original idea of crypto to create a solid, fair, and secure virtual currency that can be used for goods and services which I believe is Vertcoin.

Increasing memory requirement does not deter ASIC as centralized banking capitalist has infinite resources so memory demand only shift to memory demands. Cost deterance or pure hardware resources does not promote miners and miners are pure machines.
one way of decetralize by human and not decentralize geographically is using 2FF.
To decentralize by human the technique can copy from 2FF authentication. If crypto network randomly request miners for 2FF we can ensure human are real and decentralized. This method needed a protocol and miner clients changed.
This will shift demands of resource of memory to human and possibly create jobs.

I've been pro on this coin since the beginning, when it was worth nothing.. so I'll continue supporting it. I think it has a great community and a good future.
It did cross my mind that donating to charities will cause some amount of sell off .. but all in all, it was for a good cause, and I'm glad throwing my lot into charities for VTC.
Devs did not premine or instamine. Fair distribution, great community.. other coins have been pump and dump..
And I will admit that I mined max/panda for a few days to get in on the pump and dump.. but I always come back to VTC.. that's the only long term mine, and what I hold..

Thats a nice way to promote vertcoin and i see your financial commitment to the coin reflects what you have wrote. But the reality is, vertcoin separates itself from the rest by its anti-asic algorithm, nothing more nothing less. This in it self gives it great potential as script/asics are right around the corner. The community should grow exponentially when this happens. My concern is not in the quality of the alt-coin itself but the very fact that it is still a gen 1 crypto-currency that is based off the bitcoin protocol. I truly believe that these first generation crypto-currencies will be made redundant within the next 6 - 12 months as more efficient gen 2 crypto-currencies begin to flourish.

Oh, unless you set that manually right? I just use the same wallet with a different value after the +, seems to work fine.
The + just sets _minimum_ difficulty. It won't prevent, if you use the same wallet address for multiple rigs, vardiff adjusting too high for each rig individually which will increase stales.

When I use P2Pool, I found there are a lot of messages in the vertminer "Stratum from pool 0 requested work restart", is it right?
Yes you'll see a lot of that - it happens whenever statum tells the miner that their current work is no longer valid - ie. a block has been found. Because blocks are found on the sharechain of p2pool very often, it's normal to see that a lot when p2pool mining.

Saludos!

Please explain why the price has gone from $9 too $1.95 in such a short period of time. Someone obviously dumped a truck load.
It's just capitalism. A lot of somebodies dumped coins. There is a large portion of the altcoin mining community that is just out there to make some daily cash -- pay off their rigs, beer money, whatever. They run the mining calculators every day or three, mine whatever is most profitable (or use a switching pool), and cash out immediately. Vertcoin had some small insulation against that due to the different mining client and effort it takes to set up and tune, but now they've all ran the numbers and found that mining and dumping Vertcoin is most profitable so they made the switch. I don't expect Vertcoin to ever again be significantly above other coins in terms of profit/day mining. When the difficulty goes up, assuming Vert is established at that point, then you'll see a corresponding jump in value. If Vert were to suddenly go vertical overnight you'd see a slew of miners switch over to it and the price would come back down. I do believe in the coin though, and personally am *mostly* holding. Still gotta pay the bills. It will be a long while before the value really matures.

Did you build the binary from git source? you shouldn't have to set execute on it manually. "make" should do it after following the process described in readme. Feel free to list out the steps you took if you are still unable to make it work.

Hey everyone,
I'm the owner of Reddit's vertcoin tip bot. This morning at 5am, the tip bot was hacked and 3,000 Vertcoin were stolen. Only my personal supply was affected. I still do not know how this hack was even possible. The address that stole them was VhhUTJ5ysbXfakyeSeShQKnC78YAbao6vE. Reddit's Vertcoin tip bot will be taken down for a while, if not indefinetely. I am sorry for any inconveniences, but I can't deal with another hack like this. If you somehow hacked me by accident, please return the Vertcoins, I don't have a job, so something like this is completely horrible to me.
If you would like to donate, my address is: VkJBwmxk8FJ9T4CbSv4dWUGaN8d16rtYGU
Thanks
