How do we market this? Is there a way to get this on CoinDesk and spread the word?

Can someone explain to me what a node is?  Are these actual miners?  Thanks

How can we improve this basic description of DigiByte multi-algorithm mining?

Quote
DigiByte uses five independent mining algorithms to process transactions over the network. Each algorithm accounts for about 20% of all blocks discovered on the network. This allows for greater decentralization as currently three of the five DigiByte algorithms are ASIC resistant and much better for GPU miners. The best GPU algorithms to mine on are Skein, Groestl and Qubit. It is still possible (but not recommended) to mine all five algorithms with a CPU.

SHA256 is heavily dominated by used Bitcoin ASICS as DigiByte provides an attractive market to miners who can no longer competitively mine Bitcoin with their used ASICS.  Scrypt is now becoming more dominated by ASICs, however it is still possible to GPU mine a few DigiBytes each day.

Please could members of the DigiByte community write individual brief statements about how they feel the first year of DGB went.  Also, please include your favourite moment and what you anticipate in the future.  These statements will go into the book.

I remember when the decision was made to go multi-algo. That was THE game changer in my opinion and marked a clear before and after point in the history of DigiByte signaling when DGB went from being just another alt-coin to being a viable long term cryptographic digital currency with a future.

I agree. The accessibility given by multi-algo miners is unbeatable.
The question is how multi-algo evolves over the years. As example, no algorithm is currently favoring CPU.

When Jared posted his question today i have been reading the OP again and something jumped out what i havent been reading before and really is intresting. (maybe just missed it?)

"Security: 5 DigiByte mining algorithms vs. 1 Bitcoin algorithm.
DigiByte mining is much more decentralized.
DigiByte mining algorithms can be changed out in the future to prevent centralization."

So in the near future,, when there comes a algorithm that fits better into the Digibyte multi-algo they can easily replace it,I wonder how they can do this,,Hardfork,Softfork?

I have very likely missed it but that's not very relevant in this moment. I was very surprised when digispeed was announced. I would have considered the occasion to add yescrypt.

Please could members of the DigiByte community write individual brief statements about how they feel the first year of DGB went.  Also, please include your favourite moment and what you anticipate in the future.  These statements will go into the book.

The first year of DGB had many changes and updates to keep up with the evolving nature of cryptocurrency, I think that's why many people became interested in the coin.

Favorite moment - when I discovered DGB in a pool that mined many different coins. At that point in time it was nice to find a scrypt-based coin with a shorter block time, because as a miner I could see rewards more often with my GPUs which were not the best available. Unlike LTC where it was taking many hours/days for a block to be found at the pools I was mining in.

And for an un-favorite moment, I'm going to mention the lower block payout and change to 1% block payout reduction per month. This was done to "reduce" the amount of coins going into circulation but in reality was only a short-term fix. Over time, the original reduction plan would have been reducing the reward faster and made coins more scarce, which would have fit more into the original vision of DGB in my opinion.

For the future I see more and more adoption of Bitcoin, but the limitations are going to allow a new coin (or coins) to take it's place. As long as the dev team keeps the DGB fresh and interesting, DGB could be the one to replace Bitcoin.

My current miner setup: Linux - Ubuntu 12.04, Two 1.3Mh/s Scrypt ASICs, Two Radeon HD 7850 GPU mining different algos (usually qubit or skein).

The used market asics, are they here because they are not competitive with most of the asics mining bitcoin anymore? I don't know because I think they would still be able to buy more DGB with the BTC they could mine even now. Many of these machines consume more $s in power than they can mine in any crypto currency. They are here to support the DigiByte network!  Small asic machines are available to almost everyone and they can be run on a hobbyist's budget and it is these very people that provide the heart of our decentralized network, they are currently propping DGB up with their own money. By doing this they are denying some of our precious DGB to the fat cats that currently throw, apparently as much as they need to, hashing power at our network to keep it in check. I don't know if we can get enough of these hobbyist miners on board to make it too costly for fatty to get most of it but I figured what the heck, die tryin. I think of these little asic miners that support our network as the 'Knights of DigiByte!'
