The dates stamped on the miners are not when they were manufactured, but the model of the boards.

indeed.

i had much less issues with the newer boards that were delivered first.

this time im using a cougar gx1050w, was dubious but its fine and i like its PCI-e cables. nice and chunky.

OC'd them to 375 but these older 2 seem like they are happy to go to 400.

we'll see how things look after 24 hrs

these slightly older ones may need their firmware updated...

i want another 3-4 but not really prepared to pay 1.45 for them any more.

China    02/08/2014    1:56 A.M.    Order Processed: Ready for UPS

My deliveries have now been pushed back one day.

Good to see the tracking information is fucking useless. 'now in transit' 2/10 10:52pm - 2/11 6:12 pm 'Departure'. Fucking jokers !

Apparently 'released by clearing agency/now in transit' means sitting there doing fuck all for almost 24 hours. Useless pricks.

I'm in the same boat you are, I found it kind of funny how now in transit doesnt really mean in transit yet, it means 24 hours later it will leave.

Yes.

I had planned to setup 2 in a commercial location I lease. But they are just too noisy. Even in their own room behind a closed door you can still hear them. I've set them up In my house and am going to have to move them to the garage.

Think of a small portable electric heater, with the fan speed turned up to almost maximum. Multiply that by the number of Ants you have.

Edit : they're not obscenely loud, but just don't expect to put them in you living room, study, or bedroom. You can still hear them behind a closed door.

Ok the ants are much much quieter than an Avalon. That sounds being outside a football stadium after the game.

The AntMiner has a variable-speed (PWM) fan. It is rather quiet if your room is around +20..+23'C, but does get very loud if the ambient temperature rises to around and above +25'C. It does produce heat (equivalent to a 360 watt heater?), so if you don't have any cooling available and you're planning to put it in anything less than a hall, I would seriously reconsider it if you are bothered by fan sound. You might want to look into more/additional silent fans (a 2nd fan) to keep the S1 cool and the primary fan speeds down.

Well... The one I got yesterday looked completely new - not a speck of dust on it. The second blade wasn't completely plugged in. 100% perfect order - but check the cables before powering it up :-)

Also had the quirk with 1 of the ants I got today. Symptom was when powered on, no lights, fan at full speed. One blade was not connected.

I don't know if you're interested in modifying the Antminer S1 to add 4 "quiet" fans which will cool the Ant down and slow down the stock fan in the process.

Also in my signature.

The YouTube video has the links to the parts/fans available on ebay.
