amazing, just because they are Chinese means they shouldn't make money? lol. This is a small shop, not foxconn. Either way, i don't understand why people complain. Its obvious they are selling them with no problem at this price point. It's understandable some people's expectation of return will differ, but saying these wont ever ROI is kind of ridiculous, no?

I have no problem with them making money, in fact I expect them too.  All I'm saying is that the labour overhead is probably marginal comparative to overall costs.

I did not mean to disclude labour from my numbers, but I was partially writing some of it into the different fab steps (ie: the pcb fab estimate includes the labor/time of production). Bitmain simply assembles and tests the miners prior to shipping (2hours per unit would be generous i think)

I suspect they "test" some units for a couple weeks before shipping. For example, I bet they are "testing" the units that are going to ship on Feb 28th right now... 

This is pure speculation, but most hardware manufacturers learn that it is very beneficial pre-mine before difficulty goes up, and then sell to consumers after the hardware is past its max earning potential.

For me it doesn't bother me if these were pulled from a mine. I just got 2 more units at my door today. I buy it and they ship it, worth the perceived premium.

Hey guys,
I see people asking for the invoice everywhere, and all answers say "just look at your account"

Now I'm trying to find my invoices as well, but all I can see is at my account, under "my orders" the list of orders I've placed, and when I view them, all I see is the order overview with BTC payment amount, address, shipping ID, address, etc.

However, I'd like to get some kind of invoice which I can use as a company, something including VAT and stuff like that. Is that available as well?
(guess it's hard to show VAT on an order paid in BTC, but still asking to be sure)

At least some of the ones I've bought were almost certainly not used for mining because they had "that new electronics smell" for the first few days of mining. In fact I'd prefer they burned them in for a while, but they clearly didn't.

Do you think that companies that do large volume on corporate accounts pay the same rates as some random guy typing into UPS.com? As a reference, if I order some parts from Digikey, as long as I order before ~7pm I'll get them the next afternoon delivered FedEx from the US to Canada. They charge $8 for shipping if the under is under $200. If I were to ship the same size/weight of package, it would cost me ~$80. My low volume account gets a 30% discount down to ~$60, but that's still way higher than what they are getting charged.

I also suspect that Bitmain is paying more than $100 to ship each Ant across the world in two days. When my last batch of Ants came, the UPS guy even said that someone paid big bucks to ship the Ants.

Considering each Ant is making less than $20/day now, perhaps Bitmain can reduce the price of each Ant by offering slower shipping.

I have quite a few ants hashing away right now, boss. I would have ordered many more but 1.45BTC for a March delivery doesn't pass my ROI calculations. If people are buying March Ants at 1.45BTC, I can't really blame Bitmain for selling at that price.

Some of the Ants had dust covered heat sinks and fans, and others looked brand new, but all the Ants performed at 180 GH or greater and only 1 is not stable when overclocked.

I don't have a problem with used mining hardware as long as it performs according to spec and is delivered in a timely fashion.

Bitmain has done a great job thus far of delivering a quality product to miners at a fair price, and I wish them the best of luck in the future.

That's why I said probably. There is a discount, especially if you are shipping hundreds of units at once. I've had a UPS business account before, so I have some idea of the discounts available. My search was for shipping to the west coast of USA also. Some other destinations are probably more. A few may be less. I still very much doubt <$100.

I use an ($15 NCIX special) ASUS RT-N10P Wireless N150 Router 802.11B/G/N that has a very easy WIRELESS REPEATER setup from the web browser management page. I set it up to repeat my home wireless network and I have antminers hooked into it by ethernet. Solid router/wireless repeater. Has never gone down since last Christmas when I first set it up. If and when I get more than 4 Ants I just add a powered switch to it to get more than 4 ethernet ports.

Not sure about ever. I have a DIR-825 as my main house wireless router which is bullet proof. Never went down once in 5 years and I added as I said above an new ASUS RT-N10P set on wireless Repeater Mode in the basement for my farm. No issues.
