I've got to pay £102 to DHL. When it was shipped by UPS I only had to pay £39.

Bitmain Go back to UPS for Europe and the UK if you can. DHL is a rip off with Customs Charges.

You should be lucky if you only pay a reduced price. This is quite risky for Bitmain.
In fact I assume you have to pay full customs tax if someone at customs wants to see the invoice / proof of payment.

In my current case my order is stuck at customs (shipped with UPS) because customs picked that order (2 of my 3 orders passed without problems, 1 is stuck now) to check it. Although the correct amount was on the invoice (not the reduced one) they need a proof of purchase ;-)
Since I could send them the confirmation email + Transaction Details I do not expect problems. But I would have them if they did not declare the correct value...

Same issue here ... received one Ant last week and paid UPS 30.00 GBP (Bitmain had declared the value at 140 USD on the paperwork), and today I paid UPS 113 GBP, with a declared value of 840 USD on the paperwork!

Although it kind of sucks the customs charges shouldn't be too much of a surprise. We (the customers) are supposed to be paying them. So while Bitmain was kind enough to be skirting the edges of what is (il)legal the first few times they are well within legal territory now. It could open up a can of worms if packages get inspected and it is determined that declared values are systematically lowered.

So again it is a bummer, but can't really blame them. Smiley

Addendum: I had to pay about 170 EUR extra on my last one.

Yes you put a Smiley, ok.

You paid 170Eur extra. ok

You've ordered one to play. ok

And what about an order of 25 pieces and you didn't calculate with this cost, and no refund if they goes back to China. (Because you didn't know about this invoice change.)

Would you put a Smiley here?

Edit:

I'm lucky, I've ordered only 7 this time. I got 1500$ plus because I didn't knew about this change. The profit on the 7 miners.

Yesterday I was on to put an order to 25 pieces but thank God i decided to wait until the price goes to 1.4btc and I know about this new situation. Now i have to think about this order.

So it's funny if you play with one and pay 100 eur more? Maybe yes.

But not when you order more.

Side note: I have 35 running this moment. Every piece passed customs with no problem. I payed tha vat and tax and that's all.

So the higher declared value is set in stone now? Would be nice to get a confirmation, as it makes the offier, at least for me, rather less attractive.

Kind of yes, because it would still be my own fault for betting on getting away with not paying customs fees. Or maybe more of a " Undecided" situation in that case.

You should better be thankful that bitmain reduced the price for customs in the past so that you only had to pay a piece of the normal costs.

Everyone here importing hardware should be aware that he might have to provide a proof of payment even if it is paid with BTC. And it is no magic required to recalculate that into USD....

It is quite naive to buy larger amounts ignoring the fact that full customs taxes need to be paid..

Customs stopped one of my bigger orders and I could solve it without a problem.

I don't think so.

There was a habit how they send they units.

They sent 1000-s of them on this way. I didn't wanted more just to say: Hey guys! From tomorrow the shipping will be....

I think you know what I mean
