Good job my friend. My strategy is to simply not look at the price for 3 months and then to see what my coins are worth. Always going to be a profit with DarkCoin and prevents heart attacks.

5) Darkcoin is special because there are going to be multiple known hard forks, by design.  This isn't like most coins where the coin is released and all work on it stops, and hard forks are only a dreaded consequence of a big flaw.  Given this crucial feature, which IMO makes Darkcoin what it is more than anything else, it makes sense IMO to build some kind of "centralized" service that will alert users to problems, updates, etc. without them having to rely on searching forum threads and the like.

Darkcoin screwed up, big time.  It gets a free pass on this one -- chalk it up to a rookie mistake -- but next time, faith will have been lost.

Darkcoin has had like 10 or more forks that I can remember, changing the diff / blocks, introducing DarkSend, changing DWG/2/3, two forks now with the masternode payments etc.

Those who'll lose faith are probably not familiar with the development plan:

- RC2 (magic numbers changed to darkcoin, DGW3) : May 14th
- RC2 (masternode payments) : May 25th
- RC3 (10 DRK limit removal and denominated change) + anonymity upgrade
- After this, I'll find someone to vet the code
- RC4 (Bugs, security issues)
- Testing, then opensource

The development plan is not the problem.  As I said, hard forks are a feature of Darkcoin, not a bug.  

But everybody needs to be on the same page when they happen.  Mining pools and exchanges should all be on-board.  If unplanned forks happen, pool operators and exchanges need to be notified ASAP of the correct fork; ideally, all pool operators will be in the same IRC channel, since mining is what creates the forks in the first place.  Also ideally, large pool operators and large exchanges will have direct contact with Evan and other key folks.  Email, IRC, text message, cell phone, something.

And the network needs to be protected against people who purposely don't update their wallets in an effort to sabotage the coin.

The DRK market is a slaughterhouse right now (ever since mintpal nad cryptsy resumed trading after the fork) with a constantly increasing flow rate of blood.
But nobody (except the butchers) know when and where it ends. And it's probably a good time to pick up some slacks from these slaughters if you haven't bought in before but you want a piece.
But there is this problem with buying in at a bottom: you might never know where the true bottom is. But it's still better to buy in at the middle of a dipping than buying in at an all time high.
So, to sum it up: It's your business when and how much you buy. It must be your decision.

I'm in this for the money and I have been making a lot.  I'll buy and sell drk for profit.  Not because I think it has any chance of ever being used as an actual currency anywhere.  Anyone that thinks it will is seriously mistaken.  But it is an excellent opportunity to make money.  I'm not talking about making a few DRK.  I'm talking about tens of btc.

You can't think superficially about this. It is actually very good for miners. The reward for miners was already bottomed at 4.5 the change will only take it to 4. That is only a 10% reduction but on the other hand will promote holding from the master nodes and take coins out of circulation appreciating much more than 10% thus providing miners with a better return.  Plus, Darkcoin has such a long way to go price wise that it would be short-sighted to stop mining such a strong coin.

Hello, If anyone is having issues from the forks today and not syncing correctly to the latest blocks.. Do this, fixed my issue

1. Download the latest wallet v0.9.4.11-unk-beta
2. Go to your Darkcoin appdata folder > C:\Users\savage\AppData\Roaming\DarkCoin
3. Delete chainstate, blocks, and database (if that folder exists) and peers.dat
4. Then open up cmd, then go to your darkcoin-qt.exe directory, like mine is C:\Users\savage\Downloads
5. type darkcoin-qt.exe -rescan  It will resync and re-download all the blocks and update chainstate, and now I'm at the current block value.

I had to use "-reindex", other than that this worked fine now I've done step 3. Finally confident that I'm on the correct chain.

Alternative step 4 and 5:

Write a .bat file that says "darkcoin-qt.exe -reindex", place it in the same folder as your darkcoin wallet (darkcoin-qt.exe), then just doubleclick and it'll feed the same commands to cmd.
