Of you spend half of the time you now spend on other coin forums and put in in development of Monero it could well be a successful project. Good luck and cheerio

Has it occurred to you that I can walk and chew gum at the same time?

Is smooth the monero developer?

Why did BTC crash ?

Another reasonably large scam involving stolen BTC could have set things off.

http://www.forbes.com/sites/thomasbrewster/2015/03/18/evolution-market-a-scam-says-site-pr/

so with the masternode network is there anyway in future to

a) do decentralized exchange

b) some kind of escrow that would let users trade real assets more safely

Damn - I had a post all tee'd up and ready, then had to ditch it upon reading your appeal for calm.

Could you please refrain from assisting my "better judgment" from getting its way in future  Wink

Guys could we please not respond to arielbit anymore? He has been given all the explanations he requested. MyFarm gave his community a nice exit opportunity. I offered him 20 DRK for his trouble as a sign of friendship and the offer is still open.

I am not sure he knows what he is doing here anymore, he may need some time to figure that out. In the meantime, I would very much like not to have to read him through others quoting him as I have him on ignore for now

My comments can now be considered "working from within" to counter the relentless spinning and cheerleading.

I for one don't care if you are "working from within" or not.  I don't care if you are DASH core dev or the head of the NSA or a dev for a different altcoin.  The basic rules are the same.  Follow the code:

Acceptable posts:

Asking questions to add to your knowledge of DASH or other relevant topics,
Announcing a relevant fact that the community should be made aware of,
Uncovering a bug or problem with the code or the community,
Posting a creative meme,
etc.

Unacceptable posts:

Posting incorrect information to muddy the waters,
Posting the same text ad naseum,
etc.

You get my point.  If you want to add something of value, welcome aboard.  If you want to troll, please stop.

I could likewise say that all the repetitive cheerleading that goes on by self interested parties (holders) is inappropriate and ethically dubious shilling.

No you couldn't.

In case you hadn't noticed, this is the Darkcoin thread, not the Monero thread. The implication is that it's forum for discussion amongst those with an active interest in the project, not shills for other ones. I think that's a generally accepted ethic across bitcointalk.

It's not very difficult to tell the difference between an adverse remark from a poster who's a genuine holder concerned about their investment and one from a poster who's got no financial interest whatsoever and who's only agenda is one of malignant disruption.

Thank you for the heads up as to that possibility. Question: has anyone involved with monero taken any action which would indicate a belief that buying and selling of open source projects without community involvement and buyin is appropriate?

That depends what you define as "the community".

We talk about coin holders as "the community" because they club together in forums and discuss a common interest. But they are not "the community" in the same sense that Apache web developers are the "the community" or that Linux code controbutors are "the community".

For example, I do not expect to have a say in whether Evan Duffield compromises this project or not - I'm an investor not a developer. I have my say in the market. Of course I'm going to voice my opinions about things in the forums but I want him (or the foundation) get on with taking day to day decisions about technical and commercial issues.

Hopefully those decisions will be taken with regard to the prevailing investor opinion - if not people will just dump their holdings. So far I'm happy.

Ditto

myfarm didn't gave it as an exit opportunity for dashcoin holders (although some people may look at it differently-like you), he is trying to make things right for you DRK people..or make a profit out of it..bitcointalk is not trouble for me and my friendship is not for sale.

I am not sure about a decentralized exchange per se, as that would involve other assets on the platform, but I really do think some sort of escrow mechanism with time locks could be a possibility in the future. That would be another way to apply the transaction locking mechanism from InstantX.

We have discussed in the past the possibility of using the transaction locks in exactly the opposite way they were originally conceived. Initially the cool thing was that you could set a transaction lock so quick ~4secs, but the transaction locks also have a parameter that allows you to set a lock for an extended period of time, lets say one week, and I think that has potential to be applied to some sort of escrow mechanism.

.....

Wow, the kettle calling the flower black.  I can't see how anyone could possibly take you as a serious developer if you're the developer.  Seems to me, you couldn't present yourself less trustworthy than you do.

Hey everyone, I'm part of the community now with my heroic 1 DRK purchase!

You clearly think we're all far beneath your intelligence level. When you've invested substantially more than a cup of coffee we may take you more seriously. For the moment your presence here continues to be of dubious intent and the purchase of 1 DRK doesn't change that at all.

LOL
