I have a question. This has been discussed many times, I'm sure.

A Masternode costs 1,000, Soon to be Dash.

I've read there's somewhere around 2,500 Masternodes.

2,500 x 1,000 = 2,500,000.

Does that mean that almost half of the tradeable Dash (5.217 Million) are not Tradeable?? (A Good Thing)

Or, is there something wrong with my Math?

Thanks

If the owner of a masternode wants to keep it running they cannot move the 1000 DASH. They can move the 1000 DASH at anytime but doing so will remove the masternode from the network.

So yes 2.5 million coins are tied up in masternodes as most people with masternodes will be long term holders who have invested in VPS's to host their masternodes.

plus, because it's offline, you get kicked out the masternode payment's cycle so you have to wait for the next round which is every ~5 days i think (someone correct me if wrong Smiley)

Perhaps they should Advertise.

Thanks! Couldn't agree more about the blockchain bloat issue. Somebody wrote something the other day that stuck with me--Bitcoin devs are basically doing nothing but hoping that Moore's Law outpaces the growth of the blockchain.

Isn't that a hell of a thing? The community is basically hoping that improvements in hardware will overcome their complete inability to implement an actual solution. That's a lot like me having a $700 a month electric bill, and instead of weatherizing my house, simply hoping that my salary continues to rise fast enough to make ends meet!

I agree!
But this is a problem with all 1.0 generation coins (including darkcoin) since they are all based on BTC code.

DRK is still POW, mining difficulty is still increasing, ASIC's are more expensive to produce for X11, is there any plans for blockchain pruning with DRK?
Will the TPS be able to effectively be increased with DRK?

If so, how de-centralised will it be?

Also, i firmly believe in recoding everything from ground up, since BTC was essentially flawed in design with no consideration for future scalability.

The one thing that BTC did was introduce a new technology and the concept of cryptocurrency, but thats why i believe that projects such as NXT and NEM will go places, DRK could very well become another pump and dump too, however i do agree that there is alot more active development with this project, i dont personally see many 1.0 coins succeeding, (DRK could be an exception) but we have all seen these coins have their day, look where LTC is going, Quark, primecoin and other such coins have also had their moment and now they are almost forgotten.

Dark has an initial answer for that with the proposed abbreviation Smiley

For example, If transactions go A->B->C->D those transactions could be abbreviated to A->D. The let's talk bitcoin chat goes over that in more detail I believe?

Bagholding Dashcoin "Darkcoin" isn't bad after all.  Tongue...

i have read a post here...BUMP! so true LOL PRICELESS!

Live Coverage from a multinational, multicultural, multilingual, multi-everything you can imagine, industry oriented trade show.

PACKED full of retailers, wholesalers, producers, distributers, whole industry circuit.

After a whole damn year of pushing crypto's, specifically Darkcoin because, well, no need to explain... everyone always looked side-ways! And in MOST cases I did not even mention Darkcoin, just Bitcoin!!

This time, I am absolutely ASTONISHED at the reception to Dash!

GP    - Hello mate, remember me from XYZ trade fair 6 months ago?
dude - Ah yeah!, Kind of, of yeah I do recognised you
GP   - Super! Hey, have you heard of Dash ?
dude - hmmm... Dash? not reeeeally... wot'iz'it?
GP   - Well, in a nutshell... its digital cash.
dude - Oh right, yeah, we use Paypal.
GP   - No no ... I mean, really, digital cash, not a payment processor, like real cash, no fee's no chargebacks, no banks, no nothing.
dude -  wot you on about mate? (he's english)
 GP  -  Well...

I then explain the fundamentals, and he's 100% hypnotised and eating my every word, like and evangelist preaching to his cult audience.

Never, in a full year, have I had such immediate response.

i would repost my short comic here for the people who are saying that darkcoin will simply rebrand to DASH..why the need for evan to buy github account? what would happen to DASH/DRK and dashcoin holders out there..go figure guys..
You are going to need to come up with something more unique than Dash, since Dashcoin already exists and other people will confuse it for this or simply call it dashcoin anyway!
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=678232.0

There are thousands of failed altcoin projects by now, the names are starting to be like old domain names. The development team acquired the rights to the name from a small abandoned crypto project "Dashcoin" although it was never intended to use the suffix "coin".

Thus we are now DASH, but thanks for watching our backs, it is all taken care of though.

day 1

person a: what is DASH?

dark guy: digital cash..etc. etc.

person a: what is digital cash?

dark guy: well.....it is a cryptocurrency like bitcoin and litecoin

person a: so it is a coin?

dark guy:...yyyyyyes..

day 2

person a: hey person b i heard there is a coin out there named DASH, it claims to be anonymous etc.

person b: so how much is this DASH coin? a piece?..

person a: 3 bucks..... (person b buys)

day 3

person b: hey person c i bought some DASHcoin it is 3 bucks a piece, bought 10..that's 30 bucks   Cheesy

person c: WHAT! fucking rip off...i bought 10 million dashcoins for 1$ at poloniex.com

LOL

It`s true that  they are out of market BUT if you need and want you can broke your running masternode just in one second and send the coins to exchange if you want but this will take down your masternode and the cycle of payments into the masternode.

Ya, I'm aware of some Prominent People Here, who offered Fractional Accounts with Setup.

I never had enough to do it Smiley

I'm here in my Kingdom with 266, and I'm Happy.

BTW the "s" in Dash should be a $ Symbol  Smiley

Thanks

Thanks Everyone! Here's Something else I've been Wondering for a Year?

How much Did some of you Pay for Your First Masternodes last Year?

I remember and I held Dark: It was like a ton of money back then to set one up.

Naturally it was worth it Now.

High and Low; I'm Curious -and Jealous.

I'd have to run the numbers to be exact but I'd say around $3200 so far and I only have 700DASH
Still with my 1st MN Partner :-D

ONLY 300DASH ta go !!!!

What's your buy price?  I got some more BTC today and wondering where we are going to go to.  Looks like the lows have been increasing all day and next low might only 0.017ish...

Yes. It looks like that on the short range charts.

However on the long range it looks like we've pierced the resistance from the big weekly volume pumps of May 13th and May 12th last year.

I don't know what to think now. It's a very steep rise on short range, but looks like a breakout on the long range. Pretty bullish spikes. You're probably right that it will consolidate a bit but for how long. Things appear to be on the move. Finex is already back above 18 so your underwater (an so am I !...on a little bit of 'play' money  Wink ) Masternode count's going up, not down so there's only 2-3 million coins in the entire tradeable supply right now.

1-day chart. January to March 2015

Today: (Sorry about that bottom triangle vertex. Using the Wisdom line drawing tool's a bit like threading a needle with boxing gloves. It's a bit on the tight side).

All time: (Spelling ? f*ck it - I ditched the PSD already   Smiley )
