Is there a plan to make setting up a masternode easy on your personal computer? I have heard that it is not suggested.
Edit: I must confess that I do like how SPRs masternodes are setup. Is Evan planning to implement a similar program in wallet? Or is there one already, I haven't updated my wallet in some time.

No. The plan is to keep it easy to set up on a server. There a number of reasons for this that Darkcoin has learned on its journey. I don't want my masternode coins to be on hot storage for example.

That is a legitimate question. Why are you hiding the answer? Why is it better to setup masternodes on a server? Does no one know?

Because you don't keep your coins there. They can hack the remote server and will not steal your coins.

Are you saying that someone can hack a masternode if it's in wallet?

We want the MasterNodes to be online with a stable internet access. I think they get dropped after ... I don't recall, but by an hour, if wallet doesn't ping, it is dropped off the network. A Masternode can be run at home, just like anywhere else, and now someone has managed to run one on a raspberry pi 2 model B. But if you don't have a stable IP address and your provider changes it, you drop off the network. But if you keep an eye on it, or if like me, your ip address changes very seldom (like only when there is an issue and it's reset) you could do it at home. I find that making sure my box is running properly (which it often isn't) and the electricity cost makes it not worth it. Servers only cost about 5-8 dollars a month and are way more stable than what I have at home.

Also, the bandwidth requirements of a masternode are not negligible (although improving with each release). This might put pressure on people with capped broadband. Ahh I'm back from holiday, super relaxed and its great to see so much progress in the last week.

Servers only cost about 5-8 dollars a month and are way more stable than what I have at home. Now Mr. Spread claims that a masternode can be run with an everchanging IP address. Does that seem feasible? Also how much data is needed to run a masternode? If you are running it on your own internet connection.
