So the rationale behind changing the name is to further adoption... To what, compete against Bitcoin? Darkcoin has lowered itself to Litecoin 2.0. What a shame.

How does furthering adoption of a payment platform is related to Litecoin in any way?  Litecoin adds 0 value, they dont have any differentiators, go check their Github.

DASH has an original value proposition and is looking to differentiate itself from the regular altcoin. DASH is no altcoin, it is just a younger original crypto payment platform proposal. You can invest in it or not, but LTC has nothing to do with this.

One of the BIG selling points of colour TV was that it was...."colour". Entire brands based their whole existence on the fact that they had a colour TV.

Well, think of 'anonymity' is to cryptocurrency as 'colour' is to TV. When you haven't got it - hey, it's a big deal. But once you've got it you need some vision to see - where is this going ?

Darkcoin was a great name - make no mistake about it. But it was the 'colour TV' of crypto. The first big feature on top of bitcoin. Once thats under the belt, the players that will stay afloat in this market are those that have the breadth of vision to see that as a staging post.

The real golden nugget that DASH posseses isn't colour TV, it's a dual layer, service oriented network that delivered anonymity and will now start delivering the rest of the roadmap. Thats what's going to propel this baby forward. People can call it whatever they like, and throw as much mud as they like, but nature is nature and nature has always needed harmonic, co-operative action to deliver anything at all.

I think 'Duff's AssCash' has a nice ring to it, and is perfectly descriptive.

The last few weeks have brought something quite important as well. The spread on Bitfinex is smaller, there is more volume. Is is becoming the preferred exchange, as it should be. Dash is a top coin, it should be traded high volume / minor spread at a professional platform, that is happening almost over-night

If we reach a point where investors will finally give up chasing anon niche coins that just aren't going anywhere it could be a very good news for DRK DASH. For example there could be many disappointed investors and traders who had high hopes of the Monero pump, but now it just seems to cool off back to its everlasting slow decline. And not to mention other coins who have lost the steam of their first speculation/hype pump and have settled down to their real low market cap valuation. Question is, how long will people keep on playing those games?

You're digging yourself a hole here. If Darkcoin's "instantx" is as good as it is claimed to be, then Bitcoin will adopt it. If not then it's not as good as claimed to be. Bitcoin might not adopt anonymity schemes, but it sure as hell will adopt something that confirms transactions faster without compromising security. Also, Monero is both transparent and anonymous, so saying anon niche is a little bit too shallow(Since it fills two areas, not one).

Are you forgetting Darkcoin's pump to $15 and fall back down to $3? Or the atrocious, "instamined" beginning distribution? Or sub-par anonymity when compared to the other anon schemes(such as Ring Signatures: Monero, ZK-Snarks: Zerocoin/cash), and much more?.

Good try, and fast response. Problem is, bitcoin can't and won't adopt any features masternodes enable. Or they might, but only when faced with extreme threat but at that point it's already too late.

Also something worthwhile to note, every other thread out there talks about DRK DASH and no one gives a shit, but when some other coins are mentioned here I can count seconds when someone will try to retaliate. Being the leader comes with the burden of everyone else trying to piggyback on you.

And wrt "sub-par" anonymity - that must be some sort of confusion on your part. Those other schemes you're mentioning, rely on encryption to make the blockchain unreadable to adversaries. They are hiding everything in the blockchain and hope their algorithms won't ever get broken. Because once they do, everything down to the genesis block will be revealed. DRK DASH has a totally different approach, where it can adjust when/if new threats are revealed.

Furthermore, the anon space in crypto is quickly becoming saturated, so being a one-trick pony (no pun intended) is quickly becoming insufficient.

Always sorry to see someone go.   Of the may be 2000 or so people that own dark/dash I am expecting close to 50% to jump.  Attrition.  

It's my hope now that instead of being counter culture... We are providing real world solutions for everyday culture... With 100 of thousands of DASH holders.

I'm agree with rebranding, but changing Darkcoin to DASH is the most stupid idea I ever think about.

BTW: I'm kind of curious to hear your theory on why a linear coin distribution would be preferable to a logarithmic one, because I can see no good reason for this (and I don't know of any coin where it has worked so far), but that's something for a different thread I guess.
