I'd like to thank eduffield and the other developers for this critically important evolution in virtual currency. DarkCoin is what bitcoin should have been. Some might call it "Bitcoin 2.0" but would do better by saying: "DarkCoin is digital cash." - Child Harold - February 28, 2014 https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=421615.msg5424980#msg5424980

Pretty easy to see what's going on through the blockchain, looks like there is a lot of early coins (day 1 and 2) moving around in large amounts which are being dumped. My guess is we had a big early miner (not the devs, I have a theory which addresses are theirs and their coins haven't moved other than small amounts) that is now getting rid of things, not as much movement today though so it seems o be calming. I bet these guys got worried when they saw that scammer from c-cex.
Anyway, everyone has had a chance to get in very cheaply so the distribution should be much better now since it, take it as a positive and let's recover the community.
How many coins did you see them moving? And will Darksend make this impossible to see in the future? I didn't count to be honest but the few I looked into had addresses with 100k balances that were emptied, so maybe half a million or so. It is ironic that DarkSend will end being able to do this kind of analysis. By the way, the blockchain is fantastic entertainment if you ever get bored (Bitcoin especially)

someone dumped from 0.0015 all the way to 0.0005 .... that many .. and still dumping until now 0.0008 at cryptsy now
It's not really huge volume, if coinmarketcap.com is accurate. It's not great to see but it's only 1.5% moving in the past 24 hrs. Margin pricing can make it seem worse than it is. Source Pair Volume (24h) Price Volume (%) Poloniex DRK/BTC $ 28,136 $ 0.51 56.08 % Cryptsy DRK/BTC $ 18,225 $ 0.47 36.33 % MintPal DRK/BTC $ 2,099 $ 0.57 4.18 % C-CEX DRK/BTC $ 1,575 $ 0.47 3.14 % Crypto Rush DRK/BTC $ 133 $ 0.57 0.27 % Total/Avg $ 50,168 $ 0.50

By the way, this is the negative with cpu coins, probably some guy with a medium sized botnet, glad we've moved onto gpus.
i have to admit, i have trouble reading the blockchain (its not fancy like blockchain.info for bitcoin) , could you point me to some transactions? Here's an interesting one from today... http://explorer.darkcoin.io/address/cSJE2bvvhHJPejB44arA4AVkRbCZiyRuzfI could be wrong btw, take it with a grain of salt of course.

Half a million? UGH. We could still have a long way to go I think about that has been dumped already... The dumps have been as high as 40k each.

For those who are anticipating the price to go up once the dump is finished, this is a great opportunity to buy low.

I think this is normal. Prices rarely ever just continue on an upward trend in-perpetuity. There are son many examples of coins that have opened strong, dove, recovered, dove, recovered. Doge hit cryptsy and sank to like .00000052 btc. Jamaica bobsled giveaway happened and it shot up to 250 or so. I remember when anc got listed on cryptsy after trading on a shaddy coin exchange and it held strong before tanking badly. It recovered after a month or two. Look at the run litecoin had around november. That was like a 2-3 dollar crypto then wham. This period reminds me of the very early days of any coin. On launch, miners come in, mine it to pieces, sell quickly and bounce. If it's good crypto, you get a great bargain, and by bargain, like ten to thirty fold. On the other hand, it could be garbage and then you are stuck with MIM (not fair, don't know MIM, just crypto-profiling). What I'm trying to say is now is a great time to reload, get some more at a great price if you believe in it. By no means break the bank, or anything, I'm an internet weirdo for christ-sake not a financial advisor(though I do have my series 7.....not applicable to crypto....). If you're anxious, turn off the cpu or go touch yourself to some porn. Darksend isn't even live yet. Remember, for most people , it's all fun and games until you have to put some money on the line and risk a little to make a little. I'm not saying this is a guarentee but I feel strongly about it, from what I have seen and heard from the dev and the community. We are growing slowly by the day and this is great, regardless of the short term price. For real-world analogy, Tesla had cars spontaneously combusting, ruining their stock price to 120s in late nov. Where is it today? Damn near all time highs. This hacking isn't even dark's fault. the market will even out. Time is needed. In the interim, relax and enjoy the ride. It will happen fast, the take-off of this coin. I'm just trying to figure what I can do to help.

Tesla never had the cars spontaneously combust. Out of every documented case, every single one of them was due to driver error, aka hitting something. Oh and dude. Holy Wall of Text!

COINMINE UPDATE #3 The coinmine pool has 2930 MHASH out of total 5169 MHASH on network which is 56.68% Here is a list of all the alternative pools, transfer your miners to any one of these , ideally spread out as much as possible. THIS IS CRUCIAL It hasn't gone down yet, network hashrate has gone down only.

Miners stopped mining due to very high difficulty & very low price. They probably mined other more profitable coins by now.
