Can someone please explain the difference between Darkcoin and Anoncoin?
What I understood [most probably wrong] is that Darkcoin 'shuffles' the coins in a transaction, while Anoncoin 'hides' that IP or communication in a transaction via the use of tor?

That's correct. AnonCoin is just "designed" to be used over Tor etc, which you can just as easily do with BitCoin or DarkCoin anyway. As far as AnonCoin having anything implemented to actually improve your anonymity, as far as I'm aware - nope! They just tell you to use Tor, which you can do with any other coin.

When I use pool.darkcoin.io I have 0.5% rejected.
But in any p2p pool I have 5-6% rejected.
Should I use any extra settings for p2p?

Close enough to be the same problem.  Try lowering your intensity.  On this algorithm, you don't want intensity as high as you can get it, you need to experiment to see the best spot.  The pool is helpful that way, because it will not only show you % rejected, but also actual hash rate (what they're really getting from you vs. the wallet)

We're not even a blip on the radar yet, but I think that's good.  It's funny eduffield said he wanted to have the same kind of growth Bitcoin had, and though it's expedited, it's really amazing how closely we're following their footprints.  On an expedited timeline, yes, but similar growth pattern.

Oh, it's not that, but every junky alt coin out there has it's town crier trying to manipulate the coin's price for the moment, and it just seems to cheapen the work that went into this coin.  Though we're really happy to have your enthusiasm  Nobody serious here is looking for a quick buck but want to see this coin actually achieve that golden pedestal of real usability by a significant proportion of the population.

Hope you stick around though, we do need enthusiasm and we do try to make people aware that we exist, just in a more business like fashion

if you are talking about your fan speed you can fix that with --temp-hysteresis 5 otherwise you may have your intensity too high
