It honestly makes me chuckle that the darkroad devs don't seem to have any experience in implementing the bitcoinrpc interface. We've all seen what happens when inexperienced bitcoin developers try and run illicit websites.

BINGO!!! DPR got what he deserved for being barely competent. Karpeles passed his ineptitude on to his customers...

I've played with the bitcoin rpc jut to use an http system as wallet software instead of something written by a programmer I don't know. It takes very little clue to write PHP and RPC calls that work. A little more clue to make the hardened...

Darkroad is learning, and admitting that they're learning instead of coming up "we are experts" like DPR. I admit I'd probably do it myself, but I know how NOT difficult it is to defeat TOR... Ain't putting my balls in that sling... It's great for client obfuscation, but hidden services are NOT hidden.

I completely understand the skepticism. I believe you will be pleasantly surprised with our services. To address security concerns I am bringing in more than one, very expensive and competent security consultant to pentest. Only the very best in security is acceptable and I assure you we will only present a platform with every bug kinked out. After all, I'm risking my own time, money and most importantly freedom to provide this service.

Bad, bad day for Vertcoin and Megacoin. By the way, I wish they'd let us choose which non-mineables to keep. I want to throw out Ripple and Mastercoin but keep Counterparty and Nxt.

"“There is an irony here. Bitcoins exist to avoid institutions, and now we will have institutions.”"

Uhm, no... BitCoins exist to avoid manipulation, theft by official fiat, corruption, etc... "Institutions" were just the proxy for these bad things... "Institutions" are not necessarily evil or to be avoided. Just the dirty ones... There will still be a market for those who prefer to be less integrated. This is BitCoin's choice, offered to you... Treat it just like the money you already have, or do something better. For the people who wrote that article, it's just another fluctuating object to flip and flop as various value containment objects bounce around... One that will most likely move in the opposite direction of other investments kinda like Gold v Inflation. They only understand enough about it to speak in that context. At least it's a half-truth...

+1 for DRK

Thanks, Yup, that's how I'm mining, when I saw that, I knew I could put it up fast and ask questions later.  Is this something to just let run? or are you all doing something somewhere?  I don't see anyone talking on IRC?

Also, the phrase "We didn't have enough bitcoins, so we just printed more to pay all the bills," will never be seriously said. That's my favorite.

"We didn't have enough bitcoins, so we just printed more to pay all the bills" = inflation = theft by official fiat.
