Also check out this article - the rise of anonymity is going to be huge...DarkCoin is at the front of the pack...

The crowd funding + anonymity is the same as what we talked about a week or so ago about supporting Snowden or Assange

I was contacted by MintPal, asking if we were interested in adding more markets, trades with other coins. I said sure we would be interested in any or all coins.

The next message asked for money to do it, I told them to nevermind, it was their loss.

They got upset and said they were taking DRK off their exchange.

They really had no volume, not its not a huge loss. Just sux that people are like that.

Hey, I took a stab at breaking down Darksend in layman's terms. It's pretty hard to do given how smart Evan's innovation is, but here are two options:

1) First approach, didn't try to get into specifics too much

[We don't have to include this first part for those who understand the basics of crypto but might be useful for those who just heard about Bitcoin on the news etc.]
Darkcoin is a cryptocurrency like Bitcoin. What makes it different is privacy through the implementation of a new technology called Darksend.

Darksend is a new approach that makes the blockchain, the list of transactions between users, private. On Bitcoin, the blockchain is public, meaning that any user’s transactions can be identified by any other user. This could be used, for example, to trace a user’s payment activities. Darksend anonymizes transactions by a process called “denominating”. When a user denominates a transaction, their payment is camouflaged in a pool of identically-sized payments created by other users. Coins are then sent from that anonymized pool to the final users. This means that another user can’t see where individual payments are coming and going from, because the only transactions that they will see are transfers into or out of the pool.

2) This is longer but touches on some of the specifics of how stuff is actually done

By denominating, multiple payers all agree to send an identical amount (e.g. 10 DRK) into the pool. Sending the same amount means that all of the transactions appear identical. The pool then acts as an anonymous middleman, sending the desired payment to each recipient. Any difference between the denominated amount (10 DRK) and the actual desired payment (e.g. 5 DRK) is returned to the payer anonymously via another pool. This means that another user would never be able to identify the payer, recipient, or transaction amount, because all transactions pass through the middleman of a pool.

Happy to hear any suggestions/corrections from folks!

Going to put a run of these together if there's enough interest. If I get 15 orders I can get these to US residents for $23usd (payable in BTC or DRK, can use Moolah for Escrow), non-us residents we just need to figure out a shipping surcharge.

Sizes are up to 4xl

If you want in, shoot me a PM or email me at my handle name @ cointrepid.com

EDIT: Design updated to include website text

EDIT2: International shipping now priced, EU is an extra $10, Canada an extra $5

EDIT3: We've reached minimum, last call for group buy price. Extras may be resold later.

Ok, it seems maybe there is another account that is impersonating them.

@MintPalExchanqe    vs     @MintPalExchange

Its odd because the firstone actually has more followers than the second, which seems to be the correct one.

I am contacting them directly

MintPal @MintPalExchange
Just a reminder, we never DM to ask for payment to list coins. There are accounts trying to impersonate us. Remember, use the voting page.

Anyhow I just got into dark, mining on official pool hoping to see some coins soon.

Tips welcome

While Evan gets the technical side sorted, we as a community need to get things moving on the marketing side BEFORE the first stable release and public audit. This way the website looks sexy, all the information about the coin is in one place, and we look like an established community/business.

When the media and journalists start investigating they will more likely give us the attention we deserve if everything looks organised and professional.
Calm down, stealth. It's all under control. We have pros who are working diligently behind the scenes on this for us.

You're not necessarily hearing much about it at the moment. But rest assured, it is happening.

Just so everyone knows - that wasn't the real mintpal, they run a quality site even though we don't have much volume there right now.

I'd like to thank eduffield and the other developers for this critically important evolution in virtual currency. DarkCoin is what bitcoin should have been. Some might call it "Bitcoin 2.0" but would do better by saying: "DarkCoin is digital cash." - Child Harold - February 28, 2014

I just love this, and wish I could join with you all, but I took the last of my cash to buy dark, and I'm not going to spend it until it's worth something, but it's an awesome idea!

Put me in for 2 x XL. I know what I'm giving for birthday presents next month Tongue

It would be awesome if we got some coins minted soon, too. Did we ever decide on a final design? I've have a company that I regularly use to make commemorative coins that I could get a quote from, if nothing else.
