I think that is exactly how any altcoin behaves in manipulation-free times.
This doesn't automatically grant you a BAM!
The slow decay can go on for an indefinitely long time until some internal or external change (bad or good news from either the developers or other big players through trolling or praising articles/forum posts/etc, organized/engineered pump&dump cycles, and so on) triggers a frenzy (panic sale or panic buy, rapid movements with big volumes).
Darkcoin can't possibly end up like that any time soon because it will be far from boring or forgotten for long but decays like this can go on until the last exchange removes the coin and the last sad guy/girl deletes the last wallet.dat in existence and thus the coin officially dead. This is the realistic future of almost every altcoins in the not so far future, especially of true shitcoins.

The thing that many people don't take into account is the those "left behind" by the pump are the very people that are required to get the price to a higher level.

Those people have quite a lot of power.

For example, they can simply just refuse to buy until the price comes down. (They seem to be doing a bit of that right at the moment). So someone's got to sell to get the price down to a low enough level to pick them up. Those traders will be rewarded for doing so in Bitcoin gains (or DRK gains if they buy back in). It isn't just a case of holding and not selling - the market's got to be dynamic.

Apart from that, I think that the idea of blindly "holding for 6 months" is just batshit crazy. As a general principle, if you want an almost guaranteed way to loose everything you ever had in crypto then thats the way to do it. Unless it's Bitcoin itself you're holding then your going up against massive odds. Individual cryptocoins are not designed to last. They form part of a wider ecosystem which itself is evolving. Value flows seamlessly from one "coin" to the next, they all learn from each other, adopt each others ideas, create new ones and evolve as a system. The idea that 1 single coin "has it all" is just one that manifests itself in the first 1000 pages of Bitcointalk [ANN] threads until that particular coin starts to approach the end of its shelf-life.

I'm not saying that it 'can't' happen and I'm also not saying that DRK isn't a great investment at the moment with a very promising roadmap and development team. I'm saying that things need to be looked at from all angles and one of them is statistics and the crypto-economy as a whole. From the "inside DRK" perspective, the future is infinite. From the global perspective, it is not.

Having said all that, I'm still holding quite a bit of DRK and hope to see it grow. But my holdings have an anchored bit and a "flappy" bit that flaps about in the wind. The anchored bit stays untraded as long as things look good from a development perspective. The "flappy" bit gets traded in order to contribute the "market dynamics" I mentioned earlier. If I loose my *ss in the wind then at least I've still got the anchored bit.

(In case anyone's wondering, the proportions are currently 33% anchored, 67% flappy)

I don't know where we find a short-term bottom (unless this .0168 was it), however I do know that on the logarithmic chart volume and price so far this week are eerily similar to volume and price from April 26-May 2....and look at what happened after May 2.

"Big guys" (smart money) aren't dumping here just like they weren't dumping then. This is all the result of panicky little guys who are overtrading and likely losing their BTC little by little.

Fully agree, I remember the may 2nd. I almost sold all my coins when it hit 0,0025. But before I managed to get it to an exchange it picked up. I vowed not to make these shortterm faulty decisions ever again. And indeed now is  not very different to pre 2nd of may, slow decline, little volume, looks like no-one is interested in the coin anymore. And then BAM!

Dude. I'm not trying to cause any trouble, but google Stock Bubble Pattern and then look at the 12h chart on bitcoinwisdom. If you think the drop to 0.01 was bad its going to get allot worse.

This doesn't mean I don't think DRK will break through 0.1 by the end of summer, I'm just saying its likely that its going to 0.005 first.

I guess we will have to wait and see. I think it is hard for me to take your opinion to heart because you are a trader and looking to maximize short term profits. Also you are a backer and investor in XC coin and I find that to be very bad judgement. I guess some traditional trading people are more about the charts and analytics and less about the technology, community and fundamentals of the coin.  Like I said I really appreciate the input but I dont think you are right. I just think a lot of people in cryptos have a short attention span and they cant sit tight for a month and let the product be developed that is their loss and our gain.

I think it might be different this time than what the chart suggests because there are more incentives for holding this coin. Not as many people will sell in this particular market, and the supply is fairly scarce.

I'm a trader (small-time fledgling hobbyist mind you!). I'm not wild about sitting for a month hoping that my money grows with DRK when I could more actively trade it in that time. I'm not technically knowledgeable enough regarding these technologies and their likelihood of success, nor can I be certain of the motivations and intentions of the people involved, to jump on board a project such as this, and just devote my loyalty to it... nor to any other similar projects for that matter. I'm also not the sort that takes other peoples' word for anything I can't know or understand for myself. I actually sold half my DRK when the market went to sleep because I saw other more active opportunities. I could now take that money and buy more DRKS than I had before.

I trade for BTC profits, bottom line. That being said I still admire the goals and features of projects such as this. To the true believers that are convinced this is the one project that will succeed where so many others will then fail... hey more power to you, maybe you're right!

Look. The evidence speaks for itself. This is a clear cut case of the end of a bubble. Will you even look past your own emotional attachment and just google stock bubble pattern and then compare it to the 12h charts? The evidence is irrefutable.

You can use all the fancy terms you want--MACD, Bollinger Bands, Candlestick Charts, etc., but if the world really worked that way, playing stocks would be like buying winning lotto tickets every day.

Such analysis may be right sometimes, but I personally don't put much faith in it. If the fundamentals are sound, go for it. If not, then take pause.

The feature that is supposed to drive the price up isn't working at the moment and won't be working for at least a week or more. Instead of people making money running MN's they are losing money. Fundamentally, that sucks.

I loved that fact that many refrained from crapping in the XC thread when they were going down all the way till recent recovery. I guess things are simply not going to change until one of the coins dies. We will have to deal with dick eating faggots like mike coming here to crap while there is little "general" darkcoin talk.
