It's good he's agreed to look at the code, but posting rockets over it is a bit much as he's one of the biggest Darkcoin skeptics. Just read his posts in that thread.

He's also complained about his name being used to promote Darkcoin, so splashing his name around lots might not be for the best.

It would appear to me, the highly speculative money is flowing out of NXT after the ramp up and some of that hot money is flowing momentarily into drk. This implies to me that price volatility is likely to be high whilst the tech is being sorted out.

Yes. That's basically what I'm saying.

What newbs often call "whales manipulating markets" is known by experienced traders as "volume analysis".

Also, there is a myth that only whales with lots of money are capable of "manipulating markets". In fact if you look at the trading history for the last few hours of DRK, it's full of nonsense decimal trades such as 0.25 DRK, 0.53804 DRK, and 0.54396 DRK.

These are manipulative trades which are constantly pushing the price to one end or the other of the order book spread (the gap between the lowest ask and the highest bid).

At one point, they actually had the effect of attracting a  >1000 buy order as some nervous trader got worried that it was about to take off. But these are changed days from when the price was at 0.0005 and that order was quickly removed once it dropped back below the 18 level.

During the last 3 weeks of pumping, the market has priced in everything that can possibly happen in terms of fundamentals of this coin. There is nothing that Evan can do - no master node nothing, no Darksend perfection, no RC3 that can push the price up from here for a while until the last rise gets "baked in". That may require it going back to "mikey" levels prior to any future revaluations IMO. (Or some compromise between here and mikey levels).

That's one trader wanting the price to go down followed by another wanting it to go up, each of them pushing the price to respective sides of the spread gap for as little money as poss.

Neither is prepared to put any value into their trade.

This is changed days from when people were throwing 10's of Bitcoins onto the asks just to grab anything they could get. Not only that, we are at the tail end of a 4 hour chart correction which would normally be very bullish. I would normally buy in at that point, but the order book is about as lively as a dead sheep right now so I'm not prepared to convert realised BTC for unrealised and neither, buy the looks of it are many others.

He is a respected member of the community and knows his stuff* regarding privacy. I've read (some of) his posts and I've learned quite a bit. Now... he has certain preferences regarding bitcoin vs altcoins and he has a certain philosophy that he has expressed as to why bitcoin-based clones are redundant, scummy, evil or whatever. Apparently any bitcoin-based coin doesn't interest him hence the zerocash and bytecoin mentions (which are near-DOA themselves due to their problems and ...security assumptions).

He kind'a took the wrong turn in the coinjoin thread when he trashed drk and then complained that this is only technological stuff etc etc (which, in a way, it wasn't as the not-so-veiled criticism was there) in which others shouldn't post fanboy messages etc etc, but he rectified it to some extent by taking that discussion elsewhere.

* Some of the points he made though, like Darkcoin = centralized due to closed source, was like "what the..." It's not like this is an inherent property - rather a short term situation until the code is final. Almost personal-level criticism I've read about the darkcoin developers has also been uncalled for in some of his past posts. If Satoshi was around he'd tell him to cool down and that this is the nature of opensource. If someone wants to build something on top of Bitcoin he can. If he wants to build something in parallel to Bitcoin, he can also. Why the need to go to extremes to protect Bitcoin against altcoins? Satoshi would probably say "if Bitcoin is somehow vulnerable to altcoins, maybe it's because it doesn't do as good of a job" and I doubt he would get very emotional about it. No matter how one looks at that, once again DRK shows why it's the Platinum (=potent catalyst + rare / great store of value), by catalyzing the whole altcoin field towards the pursuit of privacy and anonymity. Even Bitcoin must now catch-up, with things like Dark Wallet.

Aye. Being respected is what makes him king. And he has demonstrated that he will wield that power with little regard to the facts, because in his eyes we are sleazy money making scummy villainous altcoin people that used his coinjoin work. To him, crushing darkcoin or trying to, is the "right" thing or at least inconsequential to the success of bitcoin via the holy grail of coinjoin, which he invented. He sees no need for darkcoin.
