There's not much of price action going on. Everybpody's just sitting on their coins and that is not exactly a perfect condition for daytrading.

Crypto is bleeding money, and not that much fresh money are flowing in.. I dont know what to believe longer actually.

DRK is a great coin with a great dev but hardly any good news seem to be able to get this train to start moving again :/

What we need is the tabloid press to get their knickers in a twist over possible nefarious use of DRK. It was the media exposure about money laundering, weapons and drugs that partly helped raise awareness of BTC in the early days.

Once Evan opensources and we get a stable release the push for adoption can begin in earnest.
I dont see why the price should move much at this juncture as most of the people who believe in DRK have already gone in to the full extent that they are willing to at this point, most of the volume right now is daytraders and bots trying to squeeze profit from the markets.
It is only with realworld adoption and commercial usage of DRK that will see sustained increases in demand.

Precisely.  But a little publicity along the way wouldn't do any harm.  Positive or negative.

If you are not daytrading you shouldn’t worry about the price on a day to day basis. The publication of the review and Evan's reply was a necessary validation, it means Darkcoin is vetted as an original and interesting crypto project to follow. We are past the purely speculative phase and we made it.  Cryptocurrencies wont dissapear all of a sudden it is part of a major technical and social revolution and Darkcoin will be part of that.

The continuity of the project is the most important thing, we now have a work methodology that works, dev team, testers, bug tracking, quality control, investors, foundation, masternodes, supporters, community, brand recognition. We only had the developer and an idea in January, look where we are now. That same structure can produce any crypto related feature the market needs independent of how the market conditions change that is a warranty for the future. If Darkcoin is able to deliver its host of anonymity services it can do anything else too, we will continue to systematically add functionality and promote adoption until Darkcoin becomes a big player in crypto, thats it.

At this point you may love or hate Darkcoin what is clear is Darkcoin is here to stay. How many of the current coins do you see alive in mid 2015? Darkcoin is most definitely one of them.

Why don't we crowdfund the development? It shouldn't be a great burden for such a big community as ours. That should accelerate the development process and add some motivation to the devs.

The only thing that leaves a bad taste in my mouth about the dev team is that not all of them are big bag holders. They do what they do because the believe in the future of the coin.  We are talking a serious number of voluntary hours donated to the cause.

I don't think crowdfunding the team would work though.  Or at least I'm not sure how it would work.

Except if you are a day-trader expecting 20% down this Week-end, stop telling the worst phrase ever : "When DRK is open-source, reviewed and RC5 released, DRK will soar"

Let's study what is the immediate effect on different kinds of people :

- Noob's point of view : "It won't rise until centuries, I want to be rich in a month time, let's find another copycoin with better timeframe"
- Twitter guru : "sell, no point to talk of DRK to my 3000 followers, they are doing nothing bankable until 2015, I cant earn money with a panic buy"
- Day-Trader : "I can buy for less in a week, sell 10K DRK on Mintpal
- Technical Analyst : Sell, the first pump is over, the trend is blablabla
- Experimented trader : "good coin, but sell because of all the things above"
- Honnest DRK holder : "Wow, it is the best coin, I buy more at these cheap prices. Let's borrow some money or use kids savings"

Then again
- Honnest DRK holder: "Why I am becoming poorer ? Why did I buy at 0.02 ? Why ddin't I sell at 0.1 ?...Kids won't go to college..."
- Day-trader : "I was right, I have 15K DRK with only 1K a few months ago."
- (Ancient) noob : "I made 50 % more with the other coin, and there is no news here since !!! I fully support the other coin now (becoming honnest other coin holder) "
- Twitter guru : DRK is still alive ?
- Experimented trader : "good coin, but sell again because of all the things above"

Everytime people write "As soon as...", "Hold until review, RC5, open-source,whatever", "2015", "long term", they are just making smart people flee from DRK, especially the few who can make a difference in price.

Please ban these words :
- I use DRK everyday for basic privacy reason, no need to say "In 2015..."
- By the way, it won't soar when open-source, reviewed and RC5 released, stop lying to noobs. They are loosing confidence and will support other coins.

I think it would work. The problem is to make people to donate. By setting up a fund we could put a dev or two on a payroll. Having received the salary for their work they'd feel obliged to deliver on a deadline the community sets for them.

X11-asic is coming, not a good sign for DRK. Sad Sad

People have been mining X11 with FPGA's for awhile now.  ASIC's will just open it up for more people.

ASIC's have been discussed in this thread.  From what I remember it was determined to be just a natural progression in the evolution of the coin.  Similar to the way bitcoin mining evolved.

Why? That's fantastic news if true.

I would love to have a small USB ASIC that can mine X11 more efficiently than a whole rack of GPUs...

(if true) the fact that a manufacturer is willing to fund, research and develop ASICs for a specific coin tells you how valuable they think this coin is.

I don't think the dev team owe us hard deadlines, paid or not.  We just want a solid release and a heads up when it will be released.
