9/14   8:51 pm  <evan82>  I just solved one of the largest problems facing Bitcoin. Instant transactions. I know how to do it...
9/14   8:52 pm  <evan82>  It'll be compatible with Darksend too. So we'll have anonymous instant transactions.
9/14   8:52 pm  <evan82>  Oh and there will be no bloat, that is the problem with POS. I bet we can get a confirmation within 10-20 seconds in most cases.
9/14   8:52 pm  <evan82>  It also fixes the finney attack, which is another huge problem for bitcoin
9/14   8:56 pm  <eth2>      =) thats some good news
9/14   8:56 pm  <eth2>      lemme know when you need testers
9/14   8:57 pm  <evan82>  Yeah, I'm obviously pretty excited about it. I just had a eureka moment
9/14   8:58 pm  <evan82>  It's simple, elegant, instant and will cost a ton of money to subvert. Perfect Cheesy
9/14   8:59 pm  <eth2>      does that have any technical implication on how transactions are processed and blocks?
9/14   8:59 pm  <eth2>      from a pool standpoint
9/14   8:59 pm  <evan82>  nope.
9/14   8:59 pm  <evan82>  It's not even a hard fork
[...]
9/14   9:25 pm  <moli>       interesting.. https://bitcoin.stackexchange.com/questions/4942/what-is-a-finney-attack
9/14   9:27 pm  <evan82>  It could possibly stop a finney attack. It's funny you post that, it's what I'm thinking about righ now
9/14   9:27 pm  <evan82>  right*
9/14   9:28 pm  <evan82>  It can definitely stop all other double spends, but finney attacks require the client to reject blocks.

WHOWWWW
this is great !!
now we just need an official statement from Evan to make this Public for real !!!!

Yes, it's real and the solution is really cool  Smiley I'll be publishing a paper soon to explain all of the details.

If you're doing a white paper, maybe add in the master nodes mixing invention - The Evan Mix, or The Duffield Mix, or MasterJoin?

Edit

Maybe publish the white paper reasonably close to development work coming to an end?

Again - another re-hashing of the original post
I'm not buying it...

My search for the truth will continue today...

As previously stated.... There is no directive, that I am aware of, that states users cannot use TOR.

At work now.....
Preliminary results:

SEARCH: TOR: nothing
SEARCH: ONION: nothing

Will continue to assess the situation....

New info:

According to a peer here....The FED passed a Farm Bill sometime back in April of 2014 with a provision tucked inside that deemed TOR illegal.

IF THE ABOVE IS TRUE, that would mean that this would affect ALL ISP's in USA and not just Comcast.

I'll continue to look into this but if somebody wants to try to investigate further that would be great.
(currently at work so my time maybe limited :-)

It's not true.

http://corporate.comcast.com/comcast-voices/setting-the-record-straight-on-tor

Most likely speculation is that comcast warned someone for running an exit node - there is a very large difference.

Hi guys

I've made my first Darkcoin investment only about 2btc for now. I'm trying to learn more about the Darkcoin technology and it's all really confusing to me. It will probably take me a while to get even a slight grasp on this. My question is, am I able to earn interest with my coins? Thanks

Good for you kazz05 and thanks for your post. I see you've already been answered by:

so you probably have about 326 Darkcoins, right? to earn interest you'd need to run a masternode. masternodes are complicated to set up, and each masternode requires 1,000 Darkcoins. when you run a masternode you randomly get payments, on average about 0.66 Darkcoins per day. if you can't afford to buy 1,000 Darkcoins, it's possible to join a group of investors who split the payments according to their shares.

and

plus you've had the standard "warm welcome" from our gun toting Florida swamp dwelling "I hate everything that's not me" "shoot first ask questions later (and if you're a female don't even bother with the questions 'cause you're just a piece of shit)" nasty bro. He's quite knowledgeable about crypto in general, just not someone you want to take too seriously.

Here is the info if you are interested Smiley If you buy 1,000 darkcoins you can set up a masternode and have a continuous income like most people in this thread Wink

For fcks sake.  Whoever it was up thread who said that bitcoin payments were instant anyway was so full of shit.

I've been waiting 20 minutes for 1 confirmation of a BTC transaction.  Its like watching paint dry.

I believe Evan found a way to speed up the confirmations. That would make sense. He can use the masternode network after all
with all those servers online. We'll just have to wait and see.

To be fair, he didn't say that they were instant, just that for a small purchase it didn't matter because merchants could afford not to wait for confirmations due to the low risk of somebody trying a double spend attack on small amounts.

He is right that for most of the small things it doesn't make sense to wait, but it is undeniable that having instant transactions is way better than not having them! At this moment people don't do double spend attacks to avoid paying for coffee, but if somehow it became easier to do them (maybe a new wallet designed for that? I'm no expert, just a quick thought, the ease of attacking could come from many places) then it would break many things apart.

Well, the best news to hit the crypto scene in ages, and it seems the bears are already back in control. .007 down to .0065 this afternoon.

Pumps don't last as long as they used to.

It's all good though, when instant anonymous transactions go live there's only one direction for this vehicle!

You're right.  My mistake.  Half an hour on one of these BTC transactions and I'm still waiting for 1 confirmation though!

I've made quite a few DRK payments today and have noticed that 6 confirmations seems to be happening a bit quicker than it recently used to.  I wonder if more people have wallets open now days?

I can't wait to see Evan's white-paper.
