As one of my first Darkcoin Foundation initiatives and in the spirit of RC5 (it sure is great to have anon coins at the ready to use whenever you want!) I want to announce the: Minotaur Labyrinth - Darkcoin Giveaway Contest. with a prize of 26DRK . Participants must be newcomers to Darkcoin, no known trolls, no known supporters or brand new accounts. All you have to do is answer two questions here in the forum: Why should someone invest in Darkcoin? How Darksend works? I will take known supporters opinion as to which is the best answer and pick a winner. Feel free to be creative but your answer must make sense, lets have some fun. Important: It is not officially open yet, at this point I would like some feedback from known supporters, what do you think of the idea and do you have any rule suggestions? If the idea has good acceptance we will officially open the contest in a couple of hours. You will know for how long it will be running and when the winner would be picked. Let me know what you guys think, is this something you would like to do? We could do more contests like this later for other things too. Edit: how about post a screenshot of your 1.1 dark anonymised and tells us what you think and get 1.1 drk payment. ie. double your money. bump Difficult to rule out known/supporter/trolls from puppet accounts. Hmm. Also for them to try it out would require at least 1.1 drk? Although i suppose people could try it on testnet. Nice idea but gets complicated. OK, my intention was to give away 26DRK to newcomers to help introduce new people to DRK and have them try Darksend. What do you suggest would be the best way to do that? Any ideas? Give it to redheads who take a selfie holding up a sign saying, "I love Darkcoin, and thelonecrouton is awesome!"

If they post a screenshot/review of successful denomination then give them a second 1.1 (double their money as reward for their work)

hey guys...
I am thinking about creating a mascot for darkcoin... sort of an animal like creature.
What are animals who are commonly associated with darkness or hiding, etc?
Bat.
Mole. (creates tunnels, etc..)
what other creatures can you think of?
Cat! A black cat would be both cute and awesome.

I'll come back here in 14 days when we hit 50-100K and remind you guys once again what a sad bunch of bagholders you guys are.
And who exactly are you going to sell to 50-100K? Some poor suckers who that are going to get bag hold those coins down to nothing? Because we both know, the chances of any of those coins surviving long term is like nothing. All I see in those coins are repeats of CINNI, CLOAK, SUPER, VOOT, etc. If he's publicly announcing a target, you can trust his group will start selling way before that number.

Cat! A black cat would be both cute and awesome. Specifically a black panther cat (and I note someone above already mentioned panther) would give Darkcoin a brilliant mascot. They're very dark, sophisticated in their ability to be stealthy and very hard to locate or see. And when they run they're very fast. They represent many qualities and attributes we're wanting to communicate about Darkcoin.

How about sending 1.1 drk to 23 journalists to try out dark? Would that not be more beneficial? Lump sum competition is good too though. hmm. Will ponder.

OK, I like the way you are thinking, we just need to figure out the mechanics. I am up for both either giving 1.1 DRK before denom and another 1.1DRK after. Or sending them to journalists. But how are we going to get the journalist to create the wallet and send and address? I guess the first one is easier. EDIT: What I liked about the winner takes all is that is just more fun.

I think a bounty of 1000+ DRK to try to trace an 8 round transfer would be awesome publicity.
This would be genius...and if nobody wins, donate it to the development fund. The problem is managing to raise such a large amount of money =( I would be willing to escrow a nice amount if I get to keep my money after the contest ends if nobody wins. I think this way is easier because we can get people to put a sum on escrow and know they get to keep their money if nobody wins in a month or something like that. I would like for chaeplin to set up the contest, if he agrees. What do you guys think?

While the idea of creating a mascot is great, I do not think it should go toward "darkness" and "hiding" -- Darkcoin is Private e-Cash for the future that enables our privacy and as such is POSITIVE! (hiding implies something negative, no?) Just my 2 cents. Shrug them off at your will.

Judging by their frequency of appearance here; trolls. We should make the trolls our Mascott. "If it weren't good, we wouldn't be here." How about some sexy picture of trolls in thongs for jerks to complain about? It's hilarious. Definitely worth some artistic research:
