Just a heads up concerning the #2 version proposed…. Their are over 120 words that don't even talk about Darkcoin and that start off the article after the first line about Darkcoin, I stopped counting….
Ahhh so that was what made you feel uncomfortable. I get it Wink
Good point. why not consolidate first two paragraphs of #2 into one paragraph and staple it onto the beginning of #1

The block chain is the main innovation of Bitcoin. It is the first distributed timestamping system.

Nice darkcoin read on Altcoin Herald:

https://altcoinherald.com/darkcoin-continues-innovate-open-source/

Quote
The introduction of an open source platform can be beneficial to the coin in a number of ways.
First, it gives third party service providers the ability to ‘plug in’ to the coin. By doing so, DarkCoin devs are making it easier for third party providers to build products and services that use Darkcoin as a primary or an option for completing transactions online.

Secondly, it opens up the Darkcoin eco-system to programmers that aren’t officially on the dev team to improve the usability of the coin. With this, the overall quality of the coin gets better.

Thirdly, users and community supporters have more control regarding the future of the coin. If you’ve ever dealt with a ‘closed source’ project, you already know that when work stops on the project, there’s little that can be done to ‘re-invigorate’ the project and continue with development plans.

nice one

Cool, it makes me really happy to see the word get out there so fast, very positive!

Please note this is all for the technical press release. Both versions that you're considering are for the press release described in red below. The press release described in blue has already gone out.

Quote
There are TWO press releases here. The first one, immediately following this, is intended for a generatlized, mainstream audience and will be distributed by PRWeb to many news agencies, blogs, etc. around the world. It needs to be easily digestible by everyday users who may not know much about crypto.

The second one is intended for a somewhat more limited distribution. While we will send it to Wired, Forbes, etc., we will also be sending it to (and it will be more likely to be picked up by) various blogs and websites in the crypto community. Consequently, it can be a little more technical and/or precise.

I didn't see the first press release intended for mainstream adoption, I hope it was reviewed!

********* Amber Alert ***********

Major developments. Circle just launched their Bitcoin banking services. Huge breakthrough in "Bitcoin for granny" type access for general public. BTC price is recovering from yesterday's nosedive. To me it looks like this really is the bottom for BTC, it's been tested and tested and held.

BTC developments are reaching a critical mass IMO - there's such a huge wave of adoption on now that I think we must be building up to the next phase. It's only going to take one spark to light the tinder pile of infrastructure services, retail adoption, confidence consolidation and media proliferation that's accumulated over the last 10 months.

To me the spark could just as easily be a crisis in Fiat as a breakthrough in crypto. In particular, a currency problem in a small country. There are plenty more Cyprus's to come and Bitcoin is way more accessible & attractive than it was in April 2013 when it had it's initial big run up. F*ck gold and silver - they're a complete waste of space, dead in the water investments. OK for big investors like the chinese government but when it comes to needing something in a hurry, getting a hunk of metal delivered to your door is about as useful as a chocolate teapot.

It's that time again, here are two drafts for the press release for open source. Kudos to Tungfa, David, Minotaur, Vertoe, & others for this.

This is for the more technical audience. The short release for mainstream audience is already out and done.

Please tell us which version you think we should go with, and if you spot any fixes we need to make or things that you feel strongly should be reworded. This is planned to go live fairly soon so we don't plan on doing any major rewrites at this stage.

[Edit: rigors -> rigours]
[Edit: we know https://darkco.in/instant-tx doesn't currently work]

Darkcoin Solves Bitcoin Privacy Challenges; Releases Open Source Code

Darkcoin is designed to ensure financial privacy by making it virtually impossible to trace a transaction back to its source. This is accomplished with a key piece of technology called Darksend, which works by mixing up the digital fingerprints of the user's coins. Darksend’s technology is based on the Masternode Network, currently 900+ Servers spread around the world (Decentralized) and maintained by DRK supporters anyone that wants to operate one in return from earning fees paid by the network.

Darksend was developed as a closed-source technology while the kinks software was being developed and tested were worked out and bugs were squashed. Following last Monday's release of the newest version of Darkcoin, called RC5, the developers of Darkcoin are pleased to announce that the much anticipated privacy capabilities of the confident that their software is ready to meet the rigours of mainstream use and independent vetting by the entire cryptography community through an open source release of all the source code has opened the Darksend source code. Darkcoin is now the first fully open-source Bitcoin based cryptocurrency with financial privacy built directly into the software.

Open-sourcing of a financial software such as Darkcoin is vitally important. It allows people to be confident that their financial privacy is protected and leads to increased confidence in the quality and performance of the software. Furthermore, the anyone can now community can go through the code and build upon it improve it, as has been done over the years with Bitcoin.

The core developer of Darkcoin, Evan Duffield has also announced that the privacy functionality of Darkcoin has moved out of the beta stages of developmentending the and is ready to drop the "release candidate" label. Darkcoin is now considered ready for mainstream, real-world use.

For businesses that maybe concerned about the level of customers and employees personal financial data that can be obtained from blockchains, Darkcoin offers an optional way for them to avoid any legal pitfalls now or in the future.

Future updates to Darkcoin are expected every few months, and will include such things as an Instant Transaction system, described in a recent whitepaper here: [https://darkco.in/instatn-tx], which will allow Darkcoin to compete with credit cards in terms of transaction speed. The release of Instant Transaction technology will also make Darkcoin the fastest-confirming cryptocurrency in the industry. This will, for example, enable merchants to process transactions in seconds, and it could also remove the risks of people leaving funds on exchanges as they will be able to move funds in and out within minutes.

Hi coins,

I'm kind of busy right now so I didn't go over your full draft yet but this line doesn't seem to make sense and there seems to be redundancy in other places, cheers:

Following last Monday's release of the newest version of Darkcoin, called RC5, the developers of Darkcoin are pleased to announce that the much anticipated privacy capabilities of the software is ready to meet the rigours of mainstream use and independent vetting by the entire cryptography community through an open source release of all the source code

Have you seen this one?

Darkcoin Solves Bitcoin Privacy Challenges; Releases Open Source Code

Darkcoin is designed to ensure financial privacy by protecting the privacy of a transaction source. This is accomplished using technology called Darksend, which works by mixing up the digital fingerprints of the user's coins. Darksend’s technology is based on Darkcoin's Decentralised Network, currently comprised of over 900 servers around the world.

First developed as a closed-source technology and following last Monday's release of the newest version of Darkcoin, the developers of Darkcoin are confident that their software is ready for mainstream use and have open-sourced the Darksend code. Darkcoin is now the first transparent open-source cryptocurrency with financial privacy built directly into the software.

Open-sourcing of a financial product such as Darkcoin is essential. It allows confidence in financial privacy and ensures trust in the quality and performance of the software. This also ensures that the community can review and update the software code if needed, a need that has been demonstrated over the years with Bitcoin.

Core developer of Darkcoin, Evan Duffield has also announced that Darkcoin has moved out of the beta stages of development and is now ready for use by business professionals around the world.
Future updates to Darkcoin are expected every few months, and will include such things as an Instant Transaction system, described here: [https://darkco.in/instatn-tx], which will allow Darkcoin to provide a superior and more secure alternative to credit cards, both in terms of security and transaction speed. The release of Instant Transaction technology will also make Darkcoin the fastest-confirming cryptocurrency in the world.

The Darkcoin client and more information can be obtained at our website:

It probably still needs work too, like ''based on'' referring to the master node network seems awkward. Maybe more something like operates through… something like that imo

Good news about open source also mean (I hope):
Even if american government will arrest Evan Duffield and other devs (or force them to stop the project) - Darkcoin won’t die and will be supported by other devs all around the world. Smiley
Evan, by the way Edward Snowden thinks Russia is not bad place to stay... Smiley
