All this talk of mining makes me want to see what I can do with my computer.

AMD FX 9590 Eight Core 4.7ghz 16GB RAM

R9 290X

Any nice people out there want to give advice on what I could do with this cpu and gpu? Could I actually get a worthwhile amount? Also just want to add hash I think it's called?

I have a couple of mining rigs and after exhausting time spent on tweaking I can get about 5.4MHS out of each 290x bf4. I've seen some posts where people are claiming to get theirs up to 6mh but I can't make it happen with the given software at the moment. I have almost the same cpu but 3.4 ghz quad and only get 129kh/s per core so not much an increase and I've noticed if I mine with cpu with all cores minjng the gpu hashtates falls off substantially way more than the cpu could make up for. I have a smaller rig with HD7850's and I hVe gotten those up to 2.04 MHS now these speeds are stable speeds u can go alittle higher but will crash the miner after several hours so I have mine set where it's minimal effort on my part. Both of my rigs have been mining away for over a month with no intervention from me besides having to restart my router. I also have a old asic pointed @ xpool.ca which I also earn drk with, which is great because it was basically junk before.

He has already written the code. The MN payments will increase every 30 days. The poll is to gauge what the community thinks is a good level to stop increasing, but is in no way official.

Just to clarify our discussion we had.
I have no problem with masternodes getting payed more.
But miners need to stay at all costs.

i will dump instantly if devan agrees

What's this all about ? Mintpal is closed. How can it be rising ?

Is this the other side of the "coin" of my failing BTC holdings ?

Is there a silver lining to BTC's demise in the form of DRK ?

Camosoul, I looked back, and noticed I said safety lessons, not training!  LOL

Thanks for the derivative lesson, Ignition!  It's often a vocabulary problem with me, but I did know "that" was done, LOL.

Oh  - lol

And let me again push my agenda

Mining for the masses as been around since day one

https://darkcointalk.org/threads/a-how-to-with-the-qt-wallet-part-three.1723/
(some of that is out of date but it is still relevant)

I started this push back in July but is only now taking on steam

Next Monday a Bounty is going to be revealed - It's not official yet - but we're working on it....

Said Bounty is NOT being orchestrated by the DEV(s)

Details shall be posted - later :-P
(if all goes well)

Well, my wallet is mining on my desktop again to support the network, LOL.  How many cores does it default to?  'cause I just started it with setgenerate true  Tongue

Ah !!!!

I've just had a Eureka moment.

Mintpal is launching with FIAT markets. That's going to open the floodgates for Fiat directly into the Altcoin markets and will clearly mitigate the stranglehold that Bitcoin has (in terms of being needed as an intermediary to buy alts).

Is this what's behind the BTC dump ?

All of them.
Please be careful and monitor the temperature of your PC. I don't recommend mining with your ordinary work pc. You could damage it if it doesn't have proper ventilation.
(better run only 1 core at all times)
I just tested on my work pc (4 core AMD (Vishera) with 3.6 GH) it shows a hashrate of about 40 kh/s and needs about 95 Watt (just the CPU, but obviously the whole PC needs more) if I am not mistaken.

So, we have to find out the total net hashrate of the darkcoin network, to calculate how much help those 40 kh/s would be. Or if I only used 1 core, the 10 kh/s.

What is the total net hashrate at the moment?
coinwarz says 84 GH/s... so I would contribute about a 2 millionth part of the nethashrate (or 0.00005 %) when I run my PC with all cores actively mining.
That's not recommendable, but good to know.

I'd like to thank eduffield and the other developers for this critically important evolution in virtual currency. DarkCoin is what bitcoin should have been. Some might call it "Bitcoin 2.0" but would do better by saying: "DarkCoin is digital cash." - Child Harold - February 28, 2014

Attn: DRK Minister of Propoganda (I mean Information).  We need to convert Kate Carruthers to the Dark side.  From the article:

http://money.cnn.com/2014/10/03/technology/security/chase-hack/index.html

---------------------------------
You're exposed everywhere anyway. That's the argument of Kate Carruthers, who spent more than a decade doing IT for major Australian, New Zealand and U.S. banks.

"If people knew how these systems are handled and how clunky they are, they wouldn't use banks," she said. "But the reality is, they have to. They don't have a choice."
--------------------------------

New tag line:  "Now, you have a choice!"  or some such.

I've been arguing with my elders (including my husband) for years that buying online isn't any less safe than buying in a store.  "but you expose your credit card to the internet!"  I tell them that their credit card is going through the internet from the store's cash register as well, but somehow that's different, LOL.

Hey, I know I shouldn't be even buying things with fiat at all, but I gotta live in this world too (unlike my husband).  Christmas is coming up, I HATE going to the mall!  I buy online when I think of the perfect thing, it's so convenient!  Someday, I will be able to do that with DRK, that's kind of an exciting thought!  So yah, I use my card all over the place (debit) and I'm totally aware of the risks (unlike "normal" people) and I'm always checking my account online to be sure nothing is happening to my account.  Still it's very insecure and a stupid system.

I put my previous unused payment towards this project instead.

Deal.

We would need some kind of valuation system, that we could update over time, and that would have only the most important features as criteria.
So, not a static info image, but more like a website that updates all the time (showing new competitors, and getting rid of obvious failures over time) with the ability to share the graph as screenshot with the click of a button thru all the various social media ...

What would important criteria be:

1) transaction time (obviously measured in seconds)
2) anonymity (difficult to measure and compare.... hm, ...)
etc..

what other criteria would make sense?

EDIT: 3) energy efficiency of blockchain securing / mining.

Every criteria would give a coin a few percentage points, and the total sum of points would make the top coin appear on the left, followed by the remeinaing top 9 (if we were to make a top 10)...

EDIT: 4) total net hashrate of the network at the moment. Ok, but how do TH/s of sha256 compare to MH/s of X11 or scrypt? ...difficult comparisons ahead, phew... maybe Joule/Watt/s ?

EDIT: 5) Distribution of total moneysupply over how many addresses? Not very reliable or meaningful... but makes nice pie charts.

Er.... I'm skipping forwards.... Are you going to make a video for us georgem?  AWESOME!

The goal is to create a website first. A website with a kind of table/chart that updates all the time. Showing the rankings measured with those criteria we first need to specify.
I think I have an awesome domain name ... (will share soon. )
