Since the last guy corrupted the hell out of his wallet, I've updated these instructions (in red).
For wallet incompatibility message.
Note: Never modify any files in the darkcoin directory with QT or the daemon running!
on windows on the search bar type in:
%appdata%
A folder will pop up. Go to Roaming and then Darkcoin.
Before beginning, make sure QT/daemon is not running!
Inside the darkcoin folder, you'll see a "wallet.dat" file.
Rename it to "wallet.dat.old" and then start the new QT. This will generate a new wallet. Copy the first address to a notepad and close the wallet.
Back in the Darkcoin folder, rename the "wallet.dat" file to wallet.dat.new and rename the "wallet.dat.old" to "wallet.dat"
Open QT again. Send your entire balance to the new address and let it get one confirmation. After that, close QT, rename "wallet.dat" to "wallet.dat.old" and "wallet.dat.new" to "wallet.dat".
Open QT again. Now your entire balance should be in the new wallet format.

I would also propose the possibility of using an exchange as a stopover for coins while new wallet.dat is negotiated if someone really didn't know what they were doing.

Maybe I have to say that I updated wallet soo many times, but this time I didn't close wallet while was doing renaming. Just fast routinely sent. followed simple guide without thinking. Its Linux.Time to start usin g it. Usually I just close old QT, move out wallet.dat, and start new QT and move new wallet.dat too, put old one back. delete old QT.

Scary thing is it really could happen to anyone. I really wasn't speaking directly about you, just thinking about people needing to in the future. I'm glad Propulsion was able to help you, cheers!

I don't have it, it just says I have that much in my Mintpal account balance.
I can help you, just give your username/password. I'll liberate your mind... Hmm seriously, how long we can withdraw the fund there? 3 options: If you don't take them, they'll go to Moolah --> take them. If mintpal can find the user to which they belong.... --> leave them. Find in a forum/thread if there is someone that loose this amount (without saying it) and pm him (execpt if it's shoajxt - Keep them) I'm still waiting on my coins from Mintpal 1,577.08211476 DRK Withdrawal Status 216235e6357e78aebacd1246040d0111c2d4e29a808cb999b2959718be1ff38c Still nothing . I'm hoping they come in soon, getting very worried now.

Actually got my DRK from mintpal. Totally thought it was lost forever. The BTC is still stuck, but just tiny amounts. Nice. I'm still waiting. Large amount I've just searched yours in the debug.log and nothing is coming back matt. mn1:~/.darkcoin$ grep orphan debug.log | grep Da3d60a2114b5e This doesn't really mean much other than to confirm the transaction either hasn't hit the network and/or hasn't yet been orphaned like the previous posters tx. I'd give MP a bit more time, chances are they are manually reviewing withdrawals and/or they need to update their darkcoin software. Walter That wasn't matt's ID, it's mine. But thanks for checking. Ah, sorry for the mix up! Hope it gets sorted for your DentIt. Walter The coins just arrived, with the same transaction ID that was provided by MintPal hours ago. All is well. Glad to hear it man. Gives me some more hope, but I know I'm not safe till the coins arrive! ....

Is the Onix update the only one that is required for the system to operate for the foreseeable future ? (Going dark for a couple of months now)

Evan has said he's now concentrating on InstaTX - he works fast. You might be OK for a month. Enjoy your off-grid time! What are you being sent down for?

I just deleted a wallet.dat containing over 10,000 DRK.
Scary, though technically a wallet.dat doesn't contain any DRK, it's the whole darkcoin network that contains them. Your wallet just saves your private keys to your addresses. BACK EVERYTHING UP ALL THE TIME! Yes! BACKUP! It's very very important to have several copies your wallet.dat, always on different medias. I am never confortable unless I dump my private keys and put them on paper wallets (always being careful with eventual change adresses) I am thinking about engraving my private keys on a granite slab.

On a fresh wallet, it takes a couple minutes to load due to the generation of addresses (1000). After the new wallet is generated, there isn't a lag other than the connecting to peers and loading blockchain.

I have the same issue. I think it is because of the insane amount of transactions. My wallet size is 28Mb's. https://darkcointalk.org/threads/linux-qt-wallet-unresponsive.2620/

Depending on how old the wallet.dat file is, you're probably better off sending all the funds from that old wallet to an address in the new wallet, or if you are partial to your old address, dumping the private key from it and importing it into a fresh wallet.

Do this: ~/Downloads/darkcoin/src $ ./darkcoind listtransactions "*" 10000 | grep -c "txid" That will tell you how many TX's you have. Mine is at 2641 total transactions.

1st for me you still have 60000 version of wallet. 2nd dumpprikey from this wallet 3rd create NEW 60001 version wallet 4th your old wallet is so big because you mined using it on p2pool right? just go through ut ignoring the tilt time. I have no issues with new ver of darkcoin with 60001ver wallet.
