You can have masternode=0 on both wallets' / daemons' configs when you're syncing them, transferring the 1000 DRK, or just generally setting them up - because they are not a masternode yet!

But when you're finally ready to start up the MN (i.e. masternode start yourpassphrasehere), then you'll need to set masternode=1 on both of them (and relaunch the wallets / dameons so the .conf gets read, duh).

Maybe that's something that isn't mentioned clearly enough in the tutorials?

It's not specifically mentioned in the tutorials because it's wrong.

The wallet which holds the 1000DRK (no matter whether it's the local 'cold' wallet or a hot wallet) needs to have masternode=1 in its darkcoin.conf.

The other one (means in a hot/cold setup) does not need it.

Can someone help me please?

I get this error

"inbound port is not open. Please open it and try again. (19999 for testnet and 9999 for mainnet)"

when i use masternode start PASSPHRASE

You have to open PORT 9999 on the server

what command do I have to input?

Depends on your firewall setup. I like ufw, here's how easy it is:
Code:
sudo ufw allow ssh/tcp
sudo ufw allow 9999/tcp
sudo ufw logging on
sudo ufw enable
sudo ufw status

You should change the default ssh port

USERNAME is not in the sudoers file.  This incident will be reported"

I followed taos guide perfectly, and have already had one running no problem.

Can i not just add the :9999 in the .conf file somewhere?

Did you copy/paste the firewall.sh code correctly?

I haven't updated my MN to the latest version yet, but I have to manually (re)start my MN at least once every day. Could this be caused because I'm running an older (v10.14.x) version? Anyone?

Oh god yes, you're not even on Onyx.

Why are you wasting your time restarting old versions? Update to 10.15.16 and have done with it.

I can't get over how trading volume has dried up... since Mintpal closed shop

I would imagine every AMD miner in the world has been staring at his farm over the last couple of months wondering whether or not they should:
  • Switch Off
  • Sell Up
  • Continue in Denial
  • Take a Hose to my Farm
  • Convert to Nvidia

The Mint-Gox fiasco would have seen a few take one of the first couple of options... That wont explain all the loss of volume however...
