This is a not a problem, it's easy to recompile with new OpenSSL (1.0.1g 7 Apr 2014), anyway SSL HeartBleed fix not so important because bitcoin based coin doesn't use OpenSSL vulnerable functions.

I recompile the Windows version with this fix, Windows installer and release notes you can find here:
https://github.com/testzcrypto/Animecoin/releases/tag/0.8.3.2

Let's me know if everybody need the Mac version.

All rest "X11 algo, with PoW and PoS" this is something which community should decide.
Personally I don't see the reason to change algo to X11.

Thank you! Downloaded ^^

There are several different types of Bitcoin clients. The most secure are full nodes like Bitcoin Core, but full nodes are more resource-heavy, and they must do a lengthy initial syncing process. As a result, lightweight clients with somewhat less security are commonly used.
Advertised sites are not endorsed by the Bitcoin Forum. They may be unsafe, untrustworthy, or illegal in your jurisdiction.

Any dev activity for this coin?

No, everything works as expected. What do you think should be implemented?

This for example : https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=423339.msg6560809#msg6560809

would be great

Thank you, that clarifies a lot.
I do have a small issue though, here the ANI wallet consumes an unusual amount of cpu while it syncs though, and takes longer to sync compared to most wallets as well. I have the same problem with another abandoned wallet, RBBT. All other wallets I have used, which may very well be 20 I have no such problem, so I assume that ANI (and RBBT) had some bug that was fixed by all non-abandoned altcoins, I wonder if someone capable can track it down

If the community would allow me, I am willing to fork the latest stable version of Quark to Animecoin's specifications, along with a few hard-coded checkpoints. Even though my reputation is not yet firmly established in the community, I only have 1 account (this one) and is theoretically more invested in keeping my good name than a newbie account that may be one of many. I am sure that Theymos can verify that by checking my IP address. My post history may also be perused if it will help quell any fears on my integrity.

Having said that, I am not willing to take the helm as Animecoin's lead developer. While I do believe that a community takeover is required based on Ani-chan's inactivity, I am much more comfortable serving as a "spare developer" rather than as the lead one. To be perfectly honest, good time management is not one of my strong suits and that is enough of a deterrent in this case.

Anyway, if the community wants me to fork Animecoin via Quark, then I will. If I do, I will only post a download link to the Windows version of the compiled wallet and a link to a Github page containing the original Quark source, the forked Animecoin source, a separate text file listing all changes to the code, and another separate text file listing the IDE and dependencies used to compile the wallet. If someone else with a trusted reputation would like to do all of these instead, then I would prefer that since that means that I don't have to.

Thank you, Relnarien, for your offer. I am always so happy when our community receives proposals like yours, because it proves to myself that I am not alone here: that there are others who also believe in Animecoin, and are willing to help it grow. It's really an honour, in my opinion, to receive the attention of people with know-how enough to improve the Animecoin network. That is the kind of knowledge/help/work I (unfortunately) do not have/am not able to offer to our community.

I want things to happen. Obviously everyone here, like me, wants things to happen. And I would do anything within my reach to help things happen. But things must be done safely, in a sound manner, in order that our community gives firm steps forwards: that is the most important.

From the laymen understanding that is mine, your proposal seems fair enough, with the intention to update our network with the latest developments of the Quark network (algorithm in which Animecoin was based).

Not having enough knowledge on these technical details, I do not feel able to judge your offer or to make a real informed decision on the matter. Once again, I will follow the group decision on this proposal. By group decision, I will always pay special attention to the opinions of some of our friend members here which, with the day-by-day participation, have already earned enough community reputation from my perspective.

Thank you again, my friend.

Success Wink

It would be pretty nice of you if it was done Relnarien, I don't see why anyone would object if the blockchain would be the same (noone loses any coins) and no spec is changed either

Who's in?

I'm constantly votes last few weeks  Smiley

So, in relation to this subject, there were some nice suggestions at reddit:

Dont forget to Vote at Mintpal, LETS GET LISTED! ^o^ (self.animecoin)

Im in for voting, don't have much BTC sadly, but have a lil over a mil ANI that i'm excited to trade and help bring value and liquidity to our market, im voting every hour.

 > libivan 1 point 1 day ago*
 > I have been voting a lot also, hourly at mintpal. I hope ANI will be added there soon Wink
 > (edit: but it takes sooooo long lol)

 > libivan 3 points 4 days ago
 > The #1 voted coin there has 1.34307475BTC. ANI is the 19th now, with 0.54039009BTC. A difference of 0.80268466BTC (803 votes).
 > If we coordinate the community, this number can be easily reached: If we get at least 10 people to vote, each paying 0,081BTC (81 votes each), that's done. It means 4,050,000ANI investment per person (with 10 people comming together for it).
 > The more people, the easier/cheaper for each person.
 > At the other hand, from the point of view of a Mintpal user, it is a good thing, because the more money Mintpal earns, the better their services will be (ideally).
 > If at least 9 other people join this effort, I participate with 81 votes (or the respective proportion, with more people in).
 > I suggest we coordinate this action for a weekend, as the voting winner is taken every Monday evening.
 > Who's in?

 >  > BurnBabyBurn71 2 points 9 hours ago
 >  > This is a good idea, one other thing you guys could do is make a donation address that people can easily donate to to go towards developing ANI in various aspects. In this case it would be availability of exchanges. We could also reward donators by giving them a reddit flair that shows people that they are a donator. People who chip in more that 0.01btc can have a custom flair with their favorite characters from their favorite anime. (which I can do if you hire me to make the reddit theme and css, costs 0.08btc though). Maybe we could have a list in the header with the top donators too. I really love the idea behind this coin and it does have a lot of potential.

 >  >  > libivan 2 points 7 minutes ago
 >  >  > Really nice suggestion. I invite you to participate at the Animecoin community at the bitcointalk (Bitcoin Forum) (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=423339) and share your ideas there with us.
 >  >  > The thing with accepting donations is that first we have to organise an Animecoin Developing Commission that will be responsible for such necessary works.
 >  >  > As I find your suggestions really important, and in order to try to help them progress, I'll forward them to our community forum at the above mentioned URL, and ask people there to participate here also.
 >  >  > Thank you, and please consider participating at our community at the bitcointalk: we really need more people with good ideas and know-how.
 >  >  > どうもありがとうございます ^

I can't afford to pay for votes either. usecryptos is free and you can vote every 1/2 hour. It would be nice if this coin was on Bittrex or Poloniex. These are mid-level exchanges that are trusted and used by a majority of people. After that you can try for Mintpal and Cryptsy.
