Vitalik's statement on 2018 (inspirational) 

2017 really has been the year where hype in crypto, including financial hype and social hype in general has far exceeded the reality of what existing blockchain systems can offer. There is a lot of attention, and a lot of eager expectation, but as far as reality goes the practical usability of blockchains has in some cases even regressed due to rising transaction fees.

I expect 2018, at least within the Ethereum space that I’m best able to speak about, will be the year of action. It will be the year where all of the ideas around scalability, Plasma, proof-of-stake, and privacy that we have painstakingly worked on and refined over the last four years are finally going to turn into real, live working code that you can play around in a highly mature form in some cases on testnets, and in some key cases even on the public mainnet. Everyone in the Ethereum space recognizes that the world is watching, and we are ready to deliver.

GAS price should be reduced as soon as possible and the slowness of the chain should be eliminated. The exchange is getting 7-8 dollars for a transaction.

The choice of gas price is too random. This often refrains me from doing transactions at all.

What is the best safe/cheap ratio at the moment to set gwei on mew? ethgasstation looks random, if I reload the page every 1 sec it gives me very distant results each time.

We have to fight back. I have a video coming out that going to do just that. I'm not going to write what's in the video here but it exposes the facts and I’m just starting to fight back. Reading these post's are much better than watching TV. The bubble has burst, OK. - Now what? LOL! Opinions are like a-holes and everyone has one...he-he...I like putting in my $.02 too. The facts are that all long term hodr's of Eth are currently looking at massive profits in a free fall state and the strong pay little attention to it. The weak are most likely all ready cashed. Leaving the new comers in a tizzy of indecision. The peeps that don't wear these things on their sleeve are the big winners. Onward Soldier...

That's true, Ethereum will become stronger as the project using eth platform are also successful.
I believe if we will just hold we will see a good profit in the future, and now that the market seems back from massive dump, I am expecting another price surge.

How much gas/gwei did you use to send out the transaction? 18 hours is a long time your ETH should have arrived long back.

Etherium price is huge and it is much more that anyone can believe year ago. I think that one reason why Ethereum is still number two in the crypto world it is that Bitcoin supply is very limited and deflation component will keep the Bitcoin price on the top for along time.

cold MEW  to sign and online MEW  to send is the most secure desktop  bundle to deal with ETH. But you need extra PC/notebook to keep cold MEW.

Ethereum is back above $1k. From here it can have fresh start upward but still next few hours are critical to be watched closely to understand the market behavior whether it is out of bearish trend or not yet. By tomorrow everything will be clear as sunlight to make your strategies again.
