Ethereum has  gains of 14% in the past 24 hours. It broke over $900 a few hours ago and reached a record high of $914 according to CoinMarketCap.com. ETH is still holding at $880, a rise of 90% from its trading level of $465 at the beginning of December. Ethereum has a current market capacity of $85 billion.

Yeah a considerable move, but I think 2018 will be a year for ETH, wonder where this can reach by December but more importantly cant wait to see good intiatives and absolute validation of Ethereum off the back of ethereum alliance group.

"The native token of the ethereum platform, ether, has started the new year with a bang, hitting an all-time high of over $900 this morning.
Having traded more or less sideways for the last week, prices for the third largest cryptocurrency by market valuation started to climb around midnight (UTC), and topped out at the fresh high of $914.83 at 02:30 UTC, according to CoinDesk's Ethereum Price Index."

I can't stand the fact that ripple passed ETH in market cap

It is just for a few days. It made the community observe that ETH is underpriced Smiley) I do not know anyone who invested in ripple, very odd pump, very odd crypto coin.

As soon as the rallying point of Ethereum continues it will reach the price of a thousand dollars per ether. As so many p2p businesses are lining up for launching, those projects that are already running and can already see the fruit of their labor continuously need gas to sustain the operations of their respective projects.

Many projects have their roadmap pointing to working products in 2018, It's not really a blasphemy to say that 2018 will be ethereum's year

I'm sure this year the ETH price will reach over $ 5000, we still have a chance to profit by continuing to buy from now on.

Any ideas what might happen to the popularity and price of Ethereum once it switches to full PoS? Have there been other coins of reasonable significance that switched from PoW to PoS and what was the effect?

Etherscan.io 14 day chart just rocketed to a new high in daily transactions yesterday. I've spent some time trying to value ethereum, I can't see it worth less than a 100b market cap in the short term putting it at 1021 due to growth expectations later this year that exponentially increase the closer Casper gets to release...if Casper goes smoothly I can't see how eth could be worth anything less than 500b which puts it at 500b/85b currently = 5.88*869[current price coinbase]= 5,109.72 each
This is why we are drifting up already....so much supply will disappear with pos requiring lots of eth to be a validator to get a chunk of the fees forever, wow, it's like being the first person landing in the USA and you just build a fence around all the land you want and you own it forever....

one thing is certain this year, the entire ethereum community knows the minute they hit the button
to sell they will be buying it back at a higher price so why bother. What happens when an entire community refuses to sell eth and has it in their wallets? And it's needed?

That comparison won't be worth much. The PoS implementation for Ethereum looks quite different from other PoS implementations. It's much more sophisticated than simple "stake and gain interest" PoS.

This is a young coin, but has been innovative, if the POS mechanism can proceed smoothly, is it conducive to people's long-term ownership? Because it will form a reward

I remember this time last year when Ripple overtook ETH marketcap.. Those were the days.
Everyone is talking about XRP beyond the ether, the current market value of the second, I have a hunch, Ethereum will not let the XRP sitting in this position for too long, too many coins looked at this location, but did not succeed

well what is your opinion about Future price of Ethereum and bitcoin?
No one can predict the price of the future, although you have a positive belief in the blockchain, will believe that the market growth blindly

But everybody saying that Ethereum will be at $2000 in 2018. in my opinion it can be happen because Ethereum perfomance very good.

By the way, I checked Coin Market Cap archive for december 2016, very interesting:

1. BTC: Market Cap 14B price 878 USD...
2. ETH: Market Cap 635M price 7.29 USD...
3. Ripple: Market Cap 229 M price 0.006 USD...

Is Casper more like BTF with validators taking turns?

Not sure about BTF, but here is a well done breakdown: https://blog.cosmos.network/consensus-compare-casper-vs-tendermint-6df154ad56ae

Hi,

About a month ago, I fully synchronized my wallet because the folder Ethereum in Roaming had been over 200GB. After sync, it was around 35GB. Now it has increased to 80GB again and I can not sync 30,000 blocks for more than 15 hours. Is this normal and what should I do to make the Ethereum folder not so big? The wallet is Ethereum-Wallet-win64-0-9-3.
Thanks!

Why is all network clogged again? There is nothing like cryptokitties now or anything.

But every transaction is having a problem. Also, some exchanges posted be patient about eth transfers.

yes eth network again clogged and transaction are now very slow
but if you use high gas in gwei then its will transact fast
right now the lowest gwei gas price is 21 gwei that's unexpected
ethgasstation is showing Median Wait (s) 125 secounds
and cost of one transaction is more then 0.4$ now
i hope gas price will not increase more and after some time it will be back to less then 4 gwei gas price

Raising funds ICO, buy an island and register a new country with UN.
Create a trading website. The government earns money from trading fees.
To attract investors. The income of the trader will be tax exempt. Money flows around the world are merging at the center.
ICO are the main currency of this country. People who hold ICO can spend it here. The government has a taxable income.
New countries are bigger than Singapore. No racial restrictions. There are only communities that connect people together.
Who do that before? Will dominate the world.
