How do you see ETH future as currency?

The devs now have the option of getting paid in Ether.

So their entire income is based in Ether.

This is the writing on the wall people.

Ethereum will connect this entire ecosystem and all of the alts. It is going to further empower the cryptocurrency community as a whole.

I strongly believe Ethereum will be the coin to surpass all other coins in value and become the "diamond" of the crypto world.

I was all in ether and got burned when it crashed to 0.002 BTC, don't put all your money in one place. Use Bitcoin too.

I bought around that time , but i can see it go up a lot when developments start rolling out , and get more and more. Only thing concern me is the amount of coins beeeing released every year around 18 million isnt it ? So it needs to grow at least a decent amount

Also for the time ETH is around i must say the community is not huge just yet

BITCOIN ON THE ETHEREUM BLOCKCHAIN : http://btcrelay.org

BTC Relay allows Ethereum developers to interact with the Bitcoin blockchain and verify Bitcoin transactions. Relayers who submit blocks to support the Relay can earn Ether.BTC Relay is an Ethereum contract that stores Bitcoin blockheaders. BTC Relay uses these blockheaders to build a mini-version of the Bitcoin blockchain: a method used by Bitcoin SPV light wallets.
BTC Relay is open-source, trustless, autonomous and decentralized: it is on the blockchain for all to use and not controlled by anyone.

If the current levels are able to keep gains in check, ethereum price could retreat to the broken triangle resistance at 0.0025 for a quick retest. If this holds as support, price could move back up to its highs at 0.0030 and beyond.

Stochastic has just reached the overbought zone, indicating that the rally is already exhausted. RSI also checked in the overbought region and is starting to head down, signaling that bulls might need to take a break from here.

In addition, the latest candle right on the 0.0030 resistance appears to be a doji, hinting at a potential short-term reversal from the breakout if the next candle closes below its low. If the succeeding candle closes above the high or the 0.0030 level, it signals that bulls are refusing to let up and that another leg higher could be seen.

In addition, the 100 SMA is still below the 200 SMA right now, which means that bullish momentum might not be as strong yet. An upward crossover might be needed to confirm that ethereum price could sustain its climb. In this scenario, the nearby resistance levels are located at 0.0033 and 0.0040.

Does anybody else mining on Windows have periodic crashes? Every time I begin mining (single R9 290 GPU) it starts up just fine. I submit shares and everything is happy. At some point (usually 1-2 hours later) it will eventually hang everything up and crash the computer. Geth and ethminer are not reporting any errors, it just suddenly stops working. Anybody else having these issues?

Yes, constantly.

For anybody else having the same problems I was having with crashes while mining on Windows I discovered the cause (at least in my system).

The problem was my monitor would turn off after an hour of idle time, and each time that happened it would cause the miner program to hang up and the system would crash. The simple solution was just to go into my power options and set it to never turn off the display. Problem solved. I am still able to use a screensaver too.

Hope this helps somebody  Smiley

Privacy

Buterin pointed out privacy is the another major factor which makes the blockchain unsatisfactory for at least some use cases. He said: "You know companies are all interested in blockchains, they love blockchains – it's the new buzzword, it's the future.

"But wait ... You are saying we have to publish every single one of our transactions to a public database that can be read by our competitors? The question is how can you have the benefits of the transparency of the blockchain without compromising your privacy?

"There is a wonderful area of cryptography called zero knowledge proofs that is somehow magically using a bunch of algorithms involving mathematical transforms on binary circuits to do exactly that."
“But wait ... You are saying we have to publish every single one of our transactions to a public database that can be read by our competitors?”
- Vitalik Buterin

Buterin mentioned a project called Zerocash in this regard, which puts zero-knowledge Succinct Non-interactive ARguments of Knowledge (zk-SNARK) into a bitcoin-like cryptocurrency. Zerocash creates a separate anonymous currency, existing alongside a (non-anonymous) base currency. Each user can convert (non-anonymous) basecoins into (anonymous) Zerocash coins.

He continued: "There are also many other applications of privacy ranging from things like proving that you are a reliable trustworthy person by some kind of reputation metric, or identity registry system, without actually revealing what your specific name is. Figuring out how to integrate that into Ethereum is one of our primary focuses."

The move to proof of stake via the Casper algorithm and upgrading the Ethereum virtual machine (EVM) are also high on the agenda and the subject of many of this week's talks, said Buterin.

"Initially I thought that Ethereum was a thing that would be used for people to write simple financial scripts. As it turns out people are writing stuff like Augur on top of it. So figuring out how to make the virtual machine really work is another topic we will be discussing this week."

is there a way that Ethereum can and will compete with privacy / anonymous coins like darkcoin/DASH and XMR

Solo.  No reason to mine ETH on a pool if you've got a decent GPU.

alethone is the easiest way I know of to solo mine.
talkether.org is a decentralized pool that's almost like solo mining but without the variance.  I've only used it for a few days, but I like both the efficiency of it, and the fact that it decentralizes the mining process.  Suprnova is a well run & easy to use pool, but the decentralization of talkether is a very attractive trump card.

I watched the Devcon live stream last night but the link I used is taking me to the archive of last night's conference.  Does anybody have the link to tonight's conference?  I think it's streaming now; I just can't find it!

Is there an android wallet?

I don't think so but I think that it will probably be released after the official GUI wallet for PC. An android wallet for Ether would certainly be a great idea as it would attract a wealth of Android users from around the world, and thus this will result in mainstream adoption.  Smiley

Yes I do agree. A beautifully polished Android app would be a great addition to the already impressive Ethereum platform.
